Well at the moment I am going to be pulling out due to sheer lack of pace. I'm only just barely capable of a 2:03 flat in my ENEOS (online free run) and not comfortably at all, getting no heat into the rubber and it's just constantly fighting me on the pad. Ultimately I'm not happy with that personally, whether it's me or the car I don't know, but I feel like I'll be more of a danger then anything else as I am over the edge on far to much by lap 3 or 4.

Unlike real racing drivers, I don't have to drive with a car I'm not happy with . Just isn't working with me and I'm not enjoying it (edit: and I feel like I'm going to cause an accident ).

Edit 2: I bought the Petronas to experiment, leaving the set up default as well, and it was significantly more planted and stable. My laptime immediately dropped by 0.5 and stayed down below 2:03 lap after lap ultimately going low 2:02s quickest, is the ENEOS supposed to have more oversteer? Or is something wrong with mine?

If you wish to join please post responding to the following:
2. Have you read all 3 opening posts fully?
What cars is used for tomorow..?

??

I got just one more question, why is aero proposed, i mean how will you police that.. you can police turbo but not the aero.. this is just a feedback, nothing more..

Like Douqa said, we dont get many people joining a one make single tune race series looking to cheat. If you do, you will be noticed very easily, because everyone else runs within the regulations. The are two different PP restrictions in place for two halves of the grid tonight. If you've tuned your car instead of following the first posts you will not be able to join. Also, ANY setting changes not outlined in the Current Criteria are prohibited.

This thread is for people who like to race in equal cars. Its all about the driver not the car. I would suggest reading through the first posts again where you will learn everything you need to know.

Also, as other members have pointed out, each week the 'Current Criteria' section will be changed to include the current weeks combo. You will find everything you need to know about sundays racing there.

Would be nice if i could be designated a car so can get some practice in.

I have two questions:
-Do you run you own transmission / suspension / LSD settings?
-Also, approximately how many laps / miles do you run?

As you've missed the deadline for being included in a team, you may run whatever SC430 you have in your garage. However as stated above and in the first posts, you may not change settings of any kind. Unless stated in the Current Criteria. Default everything!

Race lengths are determined by time. I try to make races last around 20minutes. Sometimes longer depending on how many tracks are in the combo. Race meets generally last 2 hours +.

Oh and my best so after 6 laps in the Bandai Direzza at Suzuka is a 2.00.6xx. Its capable of 1.59s no problem.
After 6 laps:
Suzuka - 2.00.811

Great laps there gents. I didnt have time to do any practice at home last night. I need to see if I can match those times because when I ran my car the last time, my best was a 2'02.0. Either I'm off the pace or settings need to be altered again. See below.

I bought the Petronas to experiment, leaving the set up default as well, and it was significantly more planted and stable. My laptime immediately dropped by 0.5 and stayed down below 2:03 lap after lap ultimately going low 2:02s quickest, is the ENEOS supposed to have more oversteer? Or is something wrong with mine?

I've been saying all along that each car has its different characteristics. The ENEOS is only slightly more skitish in the corners than the others with the downforce limits I've enforced. And the ENEOS IS quicker in the straights. That said, I went to see my mate who plans to join Concours sometime soon, and it was the ENEOS that he bought to race in.

After a few laps with the ENEOS I achieved a 2'02.1. And I felt like that was its maximum pace. (My friend who is brand new to sim racing was in the 2'07's) The ENEOS is the only one that achieves maximum power and maximum downforce within the restrictions also, so it will not be able to do much more than that.

The Bandai, Denso and Petro need bringing into line with the ENEOS even more it seems. But I'm happy to take your opinions on board.

Either, we scrap the ENEOS all together, and anyone who was designated it can race another car of their choosing. Or, do more testing, which I will be doing this morning anyway, and bring the others into line with the ENEOS? I'm inclined to go for the latter.

I'll post again just before the GP with test results. If you guys are online either join me or do your own laps, changing your power output if needed to produce 2'02 laps 👍

The ENEOS would also eat tires at my hands, which is another problem, especially as reducing the output further and further makes the others even more durable. It's just a very pad unfriendly racer, as soon as you try to put the power down it begins to slide, even in 4th coming into Dunlop you just can't put the power down on the pad where I took it full throttle in the Petronas which I had at regulation here. The immediate difference, as well as the laptime for me, was the amount of confidence I had in the Petronas which lacked in the ENEOS so much so I know my laptimes were still slow as I was under-driving the car.

I wish I could just set up my G25 again , haven't had the time to rework the logistics of my room to do so yet.

I hear where you're coming from mate. Maybe you could use TC at 1 or something? Like I said though, if you do want to race, the option is there to use a different car if you want to. (the same goes to anyone driving the ENEOS) I went online to test for an hour just now but I couldnt drown out 'life' going on around me.. :grumpy:

All in all I've had about 3 hours to test the combo this week. (I still have only driven Suzuka!) And unlike all of you guys I have to test all four cars in that short peroid. Its very difficult to get a properly representative time out of all of them. My time with the Bandai is suffernig as a result. When I was on track just now my fastest was a 2'01.3. I did have a lap where I was .5 up at 100R but I stuffed it, so I havent actually got into the 2'00's yet. However I can see the pace is there.

I think we're just going to have to race this one. Whatever happens happens and we put it down as experience. I keep trying to bring you guys new and fresh ideas, but it may just be that Concours isnt suitable for race cars. Before I started testing this combo I had no idea the cars were so different. One week obviously isnt enough to test. Maybe I'm just trying to take on too much?

The team idea I think is a great one. But if people are carrying around handicaps due to car performance as well as balancing out skill divides in drivers I dont think the result will be a fair one.

I'm very tempted to say we all just race for ourselves tonight. Come back to the team idea on a playing field I can be sure is level.

Im open to suggestions as usual guys. I really dont have time to test this combo any further.

I wouldn't be put off, I think what we could do next time is ask someone who has ran a series in that race class so we can get their feedback and hopefully they will already have matched the cars. For example we could run Super GT premiums of all types and I'm sure there's enough knowledge out there as it's such a popular series. The ENEOS seems just a bit of an odd ball, I'm sure on a wheel the difference is not as pronounced but that's just a reality, interestingly the ENEOS, EPSON NSX and WOODONE GTR are all banned in a Super GT series here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=207137 I'm pretty sure the EPSON is the slow NSX. We could with permission follow a format like that and then assign people to teams (of 2), allowing drivers to ask for a swap if they're not happy and potentially a wildcard to who get's free choice of remaining cars.

I may show up tonight with the Petronas, I won't bother testing the others to find a fastest in the interest of fairness, the Petronas looks best to me so that's why I got it.

Like Douqa said, we dont get many people joining a one make single tune race series looking to cheat. If you do, you will be noticed very easily, :

I must warn you that im not slow.. i was just asking is the cars in opening thread always actual cars, nothing more.. i love clean racing and im probably the cleanest guy around..

There's an easy way to check for suspected cheating, one if they have noticeable acceleration out of turns caused by power limiter tuning but you can simply ask that person to gift you the car or share it and the purchased turbo (or similar) will appear even if not installed. For that reason I urge all players to use a brand new car with no extras installed at any point, and there will be no question if someone is suspected of it. Similar all cars can be PP checked before the race (lowest PP car starts on track, is checked and can't leave the track from then whilst others are checked as well by next lowest PP car entering track and changing the regs in the lounge).

That being said hopefully it will never come to that, but as all cars are premium and we can duplicate expensive cars to other players who can't afford a new one with no parts if necessary, there's no point joining a relatively casual session just to cheat and be kicked out.

I am 1 of the organisers of the WSGTC and i gave Roh our tests etc, he was bold trying to get the ENEOS as yes we have banned it as we feel that we cannot get it up to the pace of the other cars.

However the other 3 are perfectly fine to use

I think this late in the day the only option really is to cut the ENEOS team, stick ENEOS drivers into other teams and we can resume from there. I for one would like to keep the team race idea going, I think the team tactics would be very interesting and perhaps exclude the lowest extra driver if any teams have more drivers then another. I think it'd be really nice to see some team tactics playing out and such.

Edit: If CR is a problem I will buy a car for another driver as well if need, as 3 ENEOS drivers were originally named it's easy to give each of them a new car each of the 3 remaining and go from there.

Just so you guys know, there will be a new guy in the lounge tonight. He's my mate and he just registered, post awaiting moderation. His name is stall4king. He's a novice, so go easy ;)

Hi johny..

p.s. 1,59,6 6th lap whit one pitstop suzuka, 1,38,6 fuji 3rd lap no pitstop..

..

Did that in public loby.. cant heat up the tyres in private, very slipery, average pace 2,00,5 .. anyways i like the damage (im a sucker for damage..) and i hope we have some more meating..

p.s. a litlle feedback, if we are going to do in private lobby which i agree maybe switch to medium, its just for better control, handling of the car is not at his best i think on hard in private.. i was satisfate in public but not in private..

And a maybe a philosophical question, what do you think.. is the tyre heat real in public or private lobby.. i find overheating on public but not in private..

Cheers guys..

Incredible, in a word. After a dismal first race (without naming names though I did lash out during my pit stop which I apologise for), I thought it was going to be one of those nights where nothing would go right for me particularly after bagging pole in that race. How wrong I was! Epic battles with Douqa in both race 2 and 3, and a clutch pole on Tokyo with only 20 seconds on the clock left, overtaking each other pretty much every lap more then once with both battles raging all race long, we basically picked up where we left off at Fuji .

Very impressive, top racing Douqa probably the best battles I've had on GT5 full stop 👍.

Fuji was my best race in a long time; enjoyed the racing with firstmivec and Rotarist 👍; fun to have company for a change :)

I'm not even going to say what I thought of last night.

Race one was good, the other two lasted about 30 seconds....enough said!

Let me just start by apologizing to anyone who had a Concours experience that was less than they have come to expect this weekend. I thought all around it was a poor show if I'm honest. Members joining the lobby, still not knowing wether individual settings are allowed to be changed. People unaware of PP restrictions for their designated car. New members who on the face of it hadnt read the opening posts, at all! Then incidents on track, the amount of which I have never seen in a Concours event before.

This combo was difficult I appreciate that, but the poor preperation and disrespectful racing ends now!! We've been through this before and Concours has moved on a long long way since then. I dont want to have to repeat myself.

Crispy, I know you had a bad race weekend and I'm going to apologize to you personally. I made it known how proud of Jacque I was for his continued participation, but I havent forgot about you. You're my right hand man in here, Concours wouldnt be the same without you. Infact without your willingness to help test every week there wouldnt be a Concours at all. I cant do this alone, and with your help I dont have to. It really gets my goat when you're the brunt of a bad race. I'm sorry for this weekend.

I also want to apologise to John. Race one lap one I had no idea how much trouble I put you in. From my point of view the contant was a tap at best, but I did recognise the fact you'd been pushed wide. I slowed down ready to stop but the rest of the pack behind me was in danger for it. Crispy had to escape to the grass and so I put my foot back in and got clear. I didnt know to what extent you were put back so I continued. I planned to retire and apologise in the lobby but Karma made sure I paid you back early. I was also distracted from sending you my regrets by having to deal with personal messages. Sorry John.

Incorrect Registration.
Caused 3 avoidable incidents and didnt slow down for one.
I had thought about banning you on the spot, but after watching your replays completely it is clear you are capable of clean and fair racing.

GTP_Johny recieves a warning

Read the opening posts again, fully! Re-read the OLR, and re-register in the appropriate format.
DO NOT repeat last nights performance. Participants receive only one warning.

WARNING! If I see on the replay that you've used your car as a battering ram, you will be warned, then you will be gone. If I see you using another persons car to slow down or make a turn, you will be warned, and then you will be gone. If I see that you are driving in a generally too aggressive manner, you will be warned, and I'm sure you get the message by now.

I thought all around it was a poor show if I'm honest. .

For me first race was a blast, sorry for not taking full 20 min practice, id probably take pol position, in race i spoon at the 130 loosing positions, i was last but i manage to overtake almost everybody except paginas.. pace betwen us was 11 sec after pitstop.. at the end of race it was 6,5 sec..( 4 laps)

As for tokyo i must say it was a lack of experiance driving whit full damage.. one to late hard braking was enough for me, very good batlle for pole position but last lap of qualy dragonistic take over me by 0,100 and taking the pol..

Sorry guys for fuji i couldn stay more but 22,00h is a start for me, il just prepare next time..

I hope i didnt hit anybody and coused a colision.. i even few times let go of position just to not couse coalision, hope your satisfite..:sly:

1st Race was epic, had a good battle with Johny untill he spun around lap 6 (pit time) which was good, then after the pits i had a good 10 sec gap from Decho so i just did steady laps to keep it on the track (was 2 secs off my fastest lap, but kept me from spinning)

Race 2, i did do too well in quali, but on the last lap i pulled a good 1 wich got me up to 4th or 5th. Start was good making it to 3rd or 4th but then on the long left hander i taped the wall and then put my foot down which resulted in a big spin (with cold tyres) onto the racing line, i closed my eyes and i could just feel the steering wheel being bashed about, Very sorry to everyone!
After that i just put some good laps in and ended up quite well as some people left (thanks lol)

3rd Race was good, not sure what happend on lap 1 or 2 there was some silly moves by some people after the long right hander which resulted in some damage (on my car not sure on any others).
As the leaders were fighting i started gaining time, after the pits i put some good laps in as car had no damage, i got right up close with 2 laps to go and then made some silly mistake which put me back to square 1 ARGH

Overall was some fun races.

I would also like to put out that GTP_Johny, you are known to just quit out from races when you are doing bad etc, please just deal with it and carry on

Seems fair as the receiver of 1 if not 2 of those incidents which ultimately, I think, probably cost me my first overall win in the concours. I'd like to discuss the lap 6 event for the benefit of all, put simply if you crash and your car is hanging on track stay completely still until it's clear even if you're on the racing line so long as people can get by. Johny pulled out across the track to try rejoin quickly I assume right into my path, completely blocking the road at Dunlop and I ended up flying off track at speed with crippling damage costing me over 30 seconds, around 40+.

Just as a side note, double or triple posting is bad practice on GTP, if you click the little by quote and select multiple quotes (then click the quote button on the last one you want instead), you'll get a post like this so you can answer to each quote all in one go 👍. Though I've also ended up with a quote inside a quote when I fixed the slightly broken quote (it happened because you had the bold tag at the end in the wrong place.
