So who is interested in being a part of Concours Club 2.0 ?

No time for me, just as towards the end of the last Concours season I no longer have the time to spare to play GT anymore regularly. At best I could show up sporadically and I would if I could.

I'm sorry to hear that Shin.
I'm also glad to have been part of the Concours club. We had some great times.

Best of luck with your career mate. I hope everything works out.

Also, i hope we can all get together once in a while for some messing about.

I'll be checking this thread to see where BlacqueJaques, or anyone else for that matter, take this club in the future.

Be well friends.

V

Well it seems little message traffic here; no one has stepped forward; so me thinks the Club has closed it's doors.

See you online somewhere; on some (real life :)) track 👍

I have a couple of ideas actually Ken. I'm on my phone right now but I have a bit of spare time this afternoon, I'll message everyone and have them come to this thread to see where the future of concours lies. Ill explain better when I've got a keyboard in front of me ;)

The day I get internet back at home, timing could not be better for me to keep track of the thread. Subbed to the thread, though time is still limited for me I'm beginning to think I might be able to attend every other week or something even if my performance would be a little lacklustre it's not all about the winning as we all know 👍.

Well.. when I actually thought about it I realised Concours is more like a race series than it is a club. The criteria and schecule are very rigid and unless you make it to the official lobby its more than likely that you cant race at all.

Since the updates, and any time I've been online since we took our vacation, I've very much enjoyed prohibited tuning lobbies on low grip tyres. Basically Comfort Softs for low powered cars and Sports Hards for everything else.

My idea was to branch out into two seperate threads. One could be a race series thread, exactly the same as this one was, but we would need to find a host. Weekly criteria could be chosen by the victor for the following week, and everything from race tyres to custom suspension can* be used, but obviously still under the proviso that everyone race with exactly the same setup.

The second thread would be a place for impromtue lobbies and for meeting friends who enjoy stock cars with realistic grip levels and lobby settings. Basically a forum for meeting like minded people and for letting people know you're online and what you're planning. This is the one I would frequent most often (although thats not often at all) because I cant guarantee certain dates and times, I'd just want to find a lobby and get to a race.

Any thoughts on the above gentlemen? Anyone keen to host a weekly lobby for the race series?

I would set up the thread initially and after that the host would take over on a week to week basis. If there is more than one person interested perhaps sharing the burden would be a good idea.

Anyway thats what I had in mind for this place anyway. Comments and criticism welcome chaps.

👍

I personally lean stronger towards the latter than the former of the two, I don't have the time to put in to practising for a specified race each week or even to attend weekly and consistently. I like unplanned shenanigans with cars that are closer to stock as I find them ultimately more entertaining, especially on a wheel where you are trying out a few different cars and just hooning around really.

Though I fully understand the pull of an organised and regulated series, I was loving them during the summer, there's nothing better then going from racing something like stock 458s (IMHO one of the most entertaining cars in GT5 even if everyone says so ) and then someone going 'hey, lets have a Samba Bus race around the ring!' and having some utterly ridiculous race which just turns into hilarity before turn 1.

My internet is a problem right now, but timing wise I don't have time to practice for a series and run a motor in, or set up a car for other series, and such. Could I make time to just have some casual shorter races at a specified time each week? Probably.

Depends on timings, if it fits for me then yes I'll be a part of it.

Agree with these two posts. That's pretty much where I am, stock cars, reasonably full grid, good times.

I also agree with stock cars. I'm in a few quite serious series and Damn they give me headache with setups etc it will just be too much with another series Lol.

I enjoyed what we had, only needed an hour max practice and then a fun race which I always enjoyed

👍

I totally understand Roh as I think everybody is looking for that full grid and hoping to just turn on the PS3 and find a place to race. It would be great to have a community of people that would post where they’re racing and what, so you would then know where to find that good clean full grid of racing.

Nice thoughts Shin! I tend to like the second league more, as it would be more fun and without much need for practice it would be easier to attend.

Second choice for me to, working shifts is a pain and most of the time i'd miss the start of concours. Switching on the ps3 and finding where you guys or others like us that like the whole clean and realistic racing thing would be great, most of the time recently i'm switching mine on and staring at the screen, lol and ok i'll say it i miss racing with you guys, shins crazy machines and the strange car colour choices helped make it great fun.

Pretty much agree with what's already been said. I liked Concours because it wasn't so serious, and the random practice races were sometimes just as good as the ones on the Sunday evening. Stock road cars, with a few exceptions, are cool. 👍

Me and my group are going through the same thing right now. Our season just finished and I need a break from the rigid structure and schedule or weekly points racing. But I don't want a break from clean, spec racing. I've been trying to think of a way we we can create some kind of lobby system that has regular loosely organized racing with "tuning prohibited" so you just grab your car and go without worrying about a good setup or schedule. I've recently become a fan of the harder tires too, like SH and CS. Combined with stock settings, it makes for some very exciting racing.

Both of our groups share pretty similar interests in spec racing and are looking for a new direction, if we worked together we would have a very sizable group of good drivers to build from. The ORCA Concours Club has a nice ring to it. :)

Encouraged by the responses so far I think I'm inclined to just continue this thread but shift it's role from a weekly race series to an informal club. I'm on my phone again at the moment so will respond properly when I'm off the train, I hope to be online this afternoon and into the evening though so look out for me and we'll get a lobby going 👍

I'm on late shift today so I might be on later if your on...

I leaned more towards the race cars; real tracks, and performance tyres; but enjoyed the clean race racing regardless of the cars or tracks combo's;

My preference, I think, has been the reason I have spent so much time racing the F1 game and less so with GT5.

Of course I will keep the friends from Concours Club on my PS3 and will try and join you in a race occasionally, eh :)

Cheers everyone 👍

Hey guys, sorry for the shameless advertising(Wait, why would I be sorry if it's shameless?:boggled:) but anyway, as the break between Season 1 and Season 2 of my Suzuki Swift series, I'm running an hour long race which may be a bit recognize-able to some of you :sly:. If you're free to run it, by all means sign up for it, Friday March 2nd, 8 PM GMT.

Please note that I'm not just copying his combo, but it did take some inspiration from Concours.

The Swifts took no inspiration from Concours as I wasn't at that week, but I have loved the car ever since I bought the game.:sly:

Ahhh I remember the ISF RM week well, my last Concours appearance and my only overall win 👍. That awkward moment when a group of drivers pull in to the pit in a sprint race thinking there's a mandatory pit stop when there isn't! Even outside of Concours the ISF RM is the only car I've won any series in, and I've never lost a series with it either, any other car some cruel twist of fate has always left me runner-up or 3rd if I've been in with a chance. Alas I don't think I can commit to attending such a long race at this time.

Moving on, if I may make a suggestion. I would really like to have a grid of different stock cars to race, as in restricted so only 1 or 2 of a car can be used. In other words sort of like a shuffle race but with some choice (first come first serve?), sure it will mean some cars have an advantage but I think it would be refreshing to have all the different cars together for once rather then either one-make or restrictions which pretty much force you to use the fastest car in a given class, as we're generally in agreement on a more casual outlook the Concours is the perfect place for such a race.

Thoughts?

Quick draft car list off the top of my head:
Ferrari 458
Ferrari 599
Ferrari F430 Scuderia
McLaren MP4-12C
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Ford GT
McMerc SLR
Lambo Gallardo
Lambo Murcielago (both?)
Nissan GTR
Nissan GTR SpecV
Dodge Viper ACR
Mercedes SLS AMG
Lexus LFA
Audi R8 V10

That's all I can think of by memory that would be suitable.

Nice idea IMO!

What about putting LFA in your list too?

Will do, I had remember the LFA when I was thinking about it in my head earlier in the week, if there's any others (premium) by all means tell 👍.

Guys! I have some free time this evening so I shall definetely be behind the wheel for a while. I plan on opening a free lobby with settings akin to what you're all used to and also what I plan for concours in future. If there aren't too many people around then I may opt to join the boys over at TCR for a bit, if thats the case, you registered and verified concours club members are more than welcome I'm sure.

Race ya later! :D

Hello

Hi dude 👍 Just keep your eye on this thread, I'm going to try and get things sorted in here either tomorrow morning or on.. erm, tuesday?! Yeah tuesday. :D
