Confused veteran GT player

Hi,

I don't understand the GT7 interface at all. I've played previous versions and they were simple - get a license and then race in events you are eligible for. You were also able to go back to tests/events you wanted to improve on.

GT7 didn't give a me series of tests. It gave me a cheap Japanese car and threw me into some races, then some 'beat this time to get a medal challenges'. I did a few and won, but kept getting silver when all I had to do was beat a similar car around 1 bend on an oval track. As I was drunk at the time I decided to shut everything down and try again later.

So fired it up today to retry that challenge. It's not there! I can go race around the world but cannot reload that challenge. I've looked everywhere but it's missing.

Can someone explain how to reload this particular challenge and the best way to start/restart a GT7 career so it makes more sense? I'm not really complaining - the racing is fun. Just raced at 'northern isle speedway'. and won. But have no idea how I got there or what it means to the game as a whole.

Sounds like you either are looking for a License Test or the Circuit Experience at northern isle. Check both of those areas.

If I remember correctly, until you clear mission 41 (?) you just follow the mission (the little gold medals), you get 3 objectives to do each mission if my memory is right, I did those a long time ago.

As a new player, you would be spending most of your time here:

in the Cafe you will be given directions like "collect cars, race, do license tests" and familiarize yourself with the game that way.

If you ever feel lost and dont know what your next task is, look for this icon:

If there is no such icon, navigate to the cafe and "start" the next menu - you didnt hit the start button there yet.

Ok, clarifying question:
Was this a challenge where you had to pass another car?

If yes, that's in the Challenges section (bullseye with arrow icon, top left of the Home Map) and probably in the very first set of challenges.

You haven't unlocked the licence tests yet.

In GT7 the career hub is the GT Cafe. You're given Menu Books to work through, and you unlock more things to do as you complete them.
