What a race, and what a way to finish off the Championship 👍 👍 👍

Thanks to ALL involved, now we're into the Endgame :D

Final Championship standings will be posted tomorrow, the top 3 will receive their 'Awards' too :)

Was an interesting night for me. Had a good battle at the end. About ten laps in I lost focus and couldn't get it back. Should have eaten before the race. I was making mistake after mistake, crashed entering the pits and finally totally missed my braking point in turn one and hit the wall. Was happy to end up 2nd after all that. Never had so much trouble focusing while driving before. Oh well. Will be missing next week unless something changes. Glad to have finished at least one of the championships.

Well that was an interesting race  I apologize Omnius for having to use my Pink NSX, but as you know I only barely made it to the race tonight. I had of course intended on using my Green machine and it was set-up and almost ready to go except for the fact that it was down on power by 30hp. I had intended on running it in before the race but with me being asleep and not waking up until 8:50, well it was a bit late to do that.

As for the race, I thought I was going to be in for a horrid night. I was in the wrong car with Motegi's set-up and I had just woken up  I had a feeling my car would be pretty slow at the start of the stints and be faster than the other drivers later on like Motegi. I was sitting in 4th for much of the first stint until my car came good and I found myself 8 seconds behind 1st going into the pits, which became 4 seconds as Hill hit the pit wall.

When we left the pits, I was suprised my car had actually very good pace straight away, turns out it was me who needed a few laps to get going  I maintained the 4 second gap between myself and Hill and pulled away from Fuel and Geordie's epic battle and passed Hill as he made his error into the first corner.

I felt in control in first but I wasn't able to pull away, I seemed to be faster in the corners but on the straights, there was no hope as my gearbox was set to a top speed of about 155mph for Motegi. So we basically stayed roughly 2 seconds apart until things got a little hairy as we came to lap Omnius. Omnius had nowhere to go with both of us pretty much either side of him and inevitably we lost time, me mostly, which put Hill right on my bumber for the last few laps. We had a great last few laps trading places, Hill would take the lead on the straight and stay there for about half/ 3 quarters of the lap and I'd get by in the corners of the last sector. I eventually crossed the line in 1st place to end a great race which I almost missed :scared: 👍

Congratulations Hill on your Championship victory. It was well deserved as you pretty much dominated that division of the Season 👍 I hope you can make it next week, I want to see this Season decided the best way.

The second award of Season 5!

Another classic end to another well fought tournament! Pleased to see Hillracing make it to defend his lead, rightly deserved win! 👍

Amazing work from Fuelmyfire to stay in contention all season and to make it count at the end! :D (That's a double bronze in your first season!)

:cheers:Well done to all the guys on the championship podium - well deserved!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me... would someone be kind enough to share a set-up that they used at the race last night or give me some pointers on camber, toe and suspension? 💡 My pace was pretty poor (over 2 seconds slower than the fastest lap) yet my tyre wear was horrendous, much worse than anyone else's from looking at the replay... my rear tyres smoke like crazy at the merest hint of a corner giving anyone following a huge cloud of fog!!! (LSD???).

I am all a bit at sea on my set-up, I know that I must have some pace hidden away in my modest box of talent somewhere (as I set fastest lap at the High Speed Ring - yes I know that is a less complex track but it must count for something!!! :sly:).

So if anyone could offer some advice, then I can have another go on the track and try and improve and understand the car a bit more in time for the endurance!!! 👍

THANKS!!! :)

Gutted I missed the race guys, unfortunately real life got in the way last night, as we had company. I thought they might be gone by race start, but it turned into an all nighter. Congrtulations to the podium, and to Hillracing for winning the championship. Great work Omnius, season 5 has been fantastic. The amount of work you put into running Core GT for us drivers each week is massive, I know from running SC. We all really appreciate your efforts.👍👍👍

Cheers Ade 👍

Advance News for the CORE!

S6 will be classed as the 2XX BHP Season, S7 as the 5XX BHP Season.

I will be using this terminology for all future seasons as a guide to prepare you all for what the Championship and Club cars will fall in.

The Championship cars will always be at the higher end of the BHP value stated :)

Hopefully this will translate into a more structured season, giving us 2 distinct cars within a range of 100 BHP, one highly tuned, and one almost stock but 'track' prepared. 👍

Thanks Omnius... much appreciated.... I shall give it a try and see how she feels. Interestingly, you are running the even more front camber than me yet my tyre wear was much higher.... my toe settings were neutral at the front.... OK will try and get some practice in sometime over the weekend.

Yeah, but you should find (and this is driver preference - it might not suit your style) my set-up allows for a bit more oversteer to counteract the understeer, even with my increased front camber, I don't need to worry about the turn in as I control it with how much of the rear I step out with a dab of the right foot

I find that I have pretty much an even tyre wear across all 4, my lack of pace is probably to do with my gears were set (and have been all along) too long...5th gear was more of an overdrive in some races

I would love to find a set-up that is fairly neutral in terms of oversteer/understeer... not too keen on having the back constantly step out... my set up at the moment feels nice enough balance-wise, but it's slow on the twistier circuits and with huge tyre wear!!!!

New Season Update II

Remember, if the parts haven't been specifically mentioned, this means you don't fit them :)

If it's mentioned, you fit it :) as there will now be mandatory parts we will all need to keep to the SPEC tuning requirement 👍

OK I just had a 10 lap stint with your set-up... I was able to better my lap time by a whole second with bit more in it I think. I quite like the feel of it, but seems really easy to "over-cook" the tyres... i.e. they were lighting up red quite a lot, which I understand increases tyre wear...

So, with your set-up, my tyre wear looked far more substantial than yours was after about 7 laps... perhaps it is my driving style then, but if I don't push so hard then my times are not as good!

I would suggest much lower Accel numbers on your LSD. I have mine at 11-14 depending.
Try going for 11/12/10 for your LSD this will kill the oversteer but if the car feels too "tight" you should increase them gradually. I also have a higher rear than Omnius with stronger springs. Thing is that I am on a controller so the numbers might be bad for you guys on wheels...

If you're lighting up the tires on exit you should look at where you are in the rev range. As an example if I know that I only have about 1000rpm left in the gear I'll short shift up to decrease wheel spin. Also gradually increasing the throttle on exit will have the same effect (I say gradual but this must be done over 0.25 - 0.5 of a sec, there is a big difference between nailing it and easing into the power).

Another thing could be your turning angle when you accelerate; try to straighten the car as much as possible before applying the gas and as long as you aren't in 1st you'll be fine (few corners require 1st and if it is needed I would make sure the car is straight before accelerating).

Make sure the exit of the corner is where you do very little with the car, all of the corner should have been dealt with on entry. This means that when you hit the apex you should be able to accelerate without having to ease off to finish the corner. If you are messing about trying to do both you'll wreck your tires and your lap. This is where the slow in - fast out theory comes in (http://phors.locost7.info/phors17.htm if you wish to get technical about it).

I would recommend reading that web page in its entirety, its very helpful and you don't have to get involved in the maths if you don't want to.

Hope this is helpful mate, kinda threw it together at 3am 💡

If you'd like I can share my NSX for a few days if you wanna try it out :)

Thanks Fuel :) all great advice and I really appreciate the help.

It would be good if I could try you car out yes, perhaps you could make it available for a few days?

It's not a problem, I'll share it now.

By now I meant when I'm home from university... So in about 30mins. :dunce:

It's up!

Mental pictures Omnius, just made me even more gutted I missed the race now.

Cheers Ade 👍

Apart from the Season 5 Champion (Who automatically has his place 'saved' unless the Champion wishes not to take part in Season 6) Can everyone add their name and if possible car photos (Championship & Club) to the page from the above link 👍

Remember, there is a max of 14 places, minus myself and the Champion, so get in early :D

Just signed up, still a bit unsure on BRZ or 86GT. Color depends on car choice as well.

#48 Matte Black on Matte Light Red for the MX5

I'm going for the 86GT in Orange pearl with black rims. Yellow with black rims on the MX-5 and of course #98. Will get pics soon!

I'll be using the MX-5 and the Subaru BR-Z in the usual colours  👍

Excellent choices guys 👍 It's nice to have as much colour on the grid as possible, but I'm ok if we have 1 or 2 cars of a similar colour (I know how some have a favourite!) Having said that, I'm with Third_Reign, some cars 'choose' themselves

Anyway now that we all know what we will be using, I think I should post what spec you'll need both cars at!

Championship/Endurance

MAZDA MX-5 TC

285 BHP @ 800 Kg

Oil Change, Fully Tuned & Engine Break-in*

Racing Hard Tyres

Club Racing/Northlander II

86GT - FR-S - BRZ

216 BHP @ 1230 Kg

ONLY THESE PARTS TO BE ADDED!
Sports Air Filter
Sports Exhaust
FC Gearbox
FC Suspension

Full Aero Kit MANDATORY!

Oil Change, Engine Break-in

Sports Medium Tyres

* The engine break-in on the MX-5 can happen pre-season or during the course of the season. You will notice that the initial BHP is around the 275 mark, my MX-5 has done only 62 miles and is sitting at 280.

This is the new aspect to the Championship cars, I will set the BHP limit to the next 'notch' above the initial tuning (after oil change) but before being run in - so don't panic if you see that your car doesn't match the set limit from the off 👍
