I see the new corvette's design as a great evolution instead of something to get mad about.

Haters gonna hate.

I knew you would say the window thing. We don't know what its going to look like. And, those rear windows varied a lot throughout the years. Except for that stupid transformers car, I think the window isn't really out of place.

God do I hate that stingray concept.. Looks like a little kids matchbox car. I will be moving to the Viper camp if they make that P.O.S. Thankfully, I don't think they are.

Really? The Window? Whats so significant about that? If is was going to be a C2 Stingray Throwback then I'd get where you were getting at, but come on. Looking at the posts here, hardly anyone defines the Corvette by its rear Window

Pretty sure they weren't going to.

The only thing that has really defined the Corvette over it's entire lifespan has been the dual-flag emblem. Sure there have been certain design cues carried over from generation to generation but nothing that makes a Corvette what it is.

Yeah he's forgetting early C3's, and the less obvious C5 FRC.

Pretty sure they weren't going to.

Do i really need to post the previous generations of the Vette again??

im not talking about the "Stingray" (practically every vette in the mid-late 60's were stingrays) because just about every generation of the Vette had the Rear window design with the "Targa" and "T-Top" been a favorite amongst Vette owners. This doesnt look like a "Vette" it looks like a "Calaway" (yes i know its a Vette but its unique enough to have its own name)

If you actually read my post, I didn't say you were reffering to the stingray, I was talking about how you in general define the Corvette's "Signiture" feature being its rear window.:

I don't think that the rear window really defines the Corvette, it's the fender forms front and rear that are defining.

Interesting shape to the dashboard, seems to have a very '90s supercar layout to it. The giant screen in the center stack seems to be the standard these days, let us hope it works a fair bit better than the Cadillac CUE system (although, I normally chalk that up to "old people" testing them). I do wonder if the instrument cluster itself will be digital, as it seems to be a trend these days.

However, I found this particularly interesting:

Autoblog
Not shown in the photos but thrown into the discussion is Active Rev Match for cars equipped with manual transmissions, said to match engine speed to the next gear for both upshifts and downshifts. Last but not least, an Engine Sound Management system will alter the 'robustness' of the engine note via seven settings: Auto, Stealth, City, Tour, Sport, Track and Off.

The rev matching isn't exactly revolutionary, but it is interesting that they are including it. The system seems to work fairly well in the Nissan 370Z and in the Porsche 911, could do the same in the Corvette. However, it seems like an expensive thing to put in the car that could go wrong. Surely it is an option? Or has an on/off switch?

And the variable exhaust valves? The previous model had it as an option, but it was only a two-stage system, designed more for performance than audible bliss. "Stealth" has an interesting ring to it, may come in handy for a late arrival home. "Track" and "Off" also seem to have an odd sensibility to it. Can Chevrolet really sell a car that will crack 100db+ on the street?

We'll see very soon.

It looks a lot more curved and it also doesn't have that spoiler.

You have to give some room for minor errors, "more curved" included, due to the nature of how the render was obtained; In haste, while staring at the real thing.

They hit all the details, which reinstates the authenticity of the render.

And remember, they did it in ZR1 trim, as they stated there were two models presented to them [Jalopnik].

I'm thinking that ZR1 trim is what is being shown in the teasers.

First Impression: I don't like it. Too many harsh corners and angles and that rear end has Michael Bay written all over it.

I'd like to see a size comparison between the C7 and C6.

Edit: not official renders, carry on.

I bit just after the rear wheel needs to be a bit longer but I like it.

Personally, I think that round (note I didn't say circular) taillights are a staple of the Corvette. Sure they can change up the overall design, but they should keep the round taillights (and of course the emblem) to tie the Corvette ideal to the car. It's the same with the 3-bar taillights on the Mustang. Even though they sort of lost them for a time in the 80's (granted the overall body shape was wildly different as well), they brought them back for the redesign in '94 (albeight horizontally).

It kinda reminds me of the GT-R from that front angle in the roof line area.

I think those renders look like it has got the roofline of the Ferrari FF and the side vent and rear panels of the GT-R.

Hyped

Wow it really does look different. I don't know yet though.

I wonder if I will get to go to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this year since I just moved back. Only reason I don't want to go is because of my foot. I can only stand on it for about two to three hours then the pain is unbarible (had a really bad car wreak almost 3 years ago.

As I've said I like it but I was it looked more like the C3 generation, as that's my favorite gen besides C4's.

These renders might not be official, but I'm sure they're close.
I still think they should've given her more curves and round taillights, but it looks better this way than in the first pictures.

I realize though the Vettes Tailamps might not look like "Corvette" it does some what resemeble a "Stingray" fish in a way. like how the Vipers headlights are actual "Serpent" Eyes

I actually have a concept of the Stingray from the 2010 or 2011 (probably '11) Motor Trend Car show Baltimore. Although it does look very concepty, if you get my drift, too far out there to be a final product with today's styling.
