Meanwhile somewhere on an abandoned Detroit warehouse......

You can see the car's outline which is pretty much the Jalopnik render we all know its gonna look like.

Not really sure where you're getting a charger from this.

"going by the outline"

it looks like a Coupe version of this, i guess i should had said a Charger "Concept" Coupe

Hmm, it looks good, but a bit odd. I said the same about the new Viper, but damn, that's grown on me. I think I'll like this 'Vette.

The Viper grew on me to where I love it. That pic above of the C7 side view is hideous in my opinion.

Every time I see the rear quarter panel and the rear of the car, I see a GT-R.

I see what you mean, seems the GT-R's styling had a huge impact on car designers everywhere (a bit like what the Audi TT did in the late nineties), that recent Zagato Aston and Mercedes SLS being a few notable examples where the influence can't be denied, at least in some details.

It used to be that the Japanese were accused of simply copying European and American designs but now that they've finally found a confidently Japanese design language (same for the Lexus LFA) it goes the other way around.

I dunno..besides the fender vents i dont see any GTR in it at all really. hopefully some time spring/summer i will have a direct side by side comparison shot as ive got a deposit on the first one our local chevy dealer is getting.

will do. its more something im helping my dad with for his 66th bday as he is a lifelong vette fan. Im a fan too of the platform as i had a C5 for a couple years back in 98 and shared a C6 with my dad for a while before the GTR arrived. but its not really my "thing" . Im diehard GTR for life.

but with that said I will be giving it a good thrashing at the track this year so am excited about that. Unless it drives like the GT5 version which will leave me wrapped around a tire barrier somewhere lol.

Its going to be an auto version which I wish we were getting a manual as i sort of miss driving one every now and then. havent touched one since 2008. The auto in that C6 back in 2004 was the early 4 speed and was really bad except for highway cruising. when you floored it i remember a big pause then sudden burst or power.

This new 8 speed from asin( used for lexus) they are supposedly gonna run until the in house 8 speed is ready should work nicely. I do wish the actual transmission designed for the car would have been available though

so all in all really looking forward to the unveil here in the next few days!!

as far as styling from what weve seen so far it looks like modernized C6 with some viper and camaro queues thrown in for good measure. I know its been ran into the ground but the interior is really what i cant wait to see as the C6 was just not up to par in that area. the digital gauge and the peak of the seats so far is promising

I sincerely hoped the rendering were wrong from the first time I saw it.
Given some renderings for the C6 were totally off, I hope it holds true now too.
It better look like a Vette'! Since the first one they each had their own unique styling appeal, this better not screw it up.

I think it looks pretty damn cool. Looks a lot leaner and better than the renderings suggest. Would love to see it in anything other than silver.

First of all, interesting Leaked magazine scan there.

Second, two interesting pics:

The hole in the hood seems to indicate a ZR1 trim level car.

Just thought this was interesting purely because of all the things underneith.

I believe all trim level corvettes have the vent in the hoods since all the mules had the vents on car's that looked like base models.

Hmmm, interesting then. Guess I was just going off what I saw with the way the variations of the C6 were differenciated.

Okay, here goes. Why is it that I am never excited by the exterior design of American cars? It seems that while everyone else can build good looking sports cars, Americans can't get away from retro designs or, like the C7, Cadillacs of all sorts, or anything else that is a good car underneath, unoriginal looking angles. Maybe my tastes are too European, but the more that I see this new Vette, the less I like it. I think that it will be like the Camaro SS 1LE for me: a brilliant performance bargain, but too unattractive to look at and as a total package, to really want to own.
