Where exactly did you get this info? I don't see anywhere that says "Stingray" will appear on the car (nor do I see on any of the leaked pics).

There's Corvette and Stingray imagery all over Detroit right now.

As for the Stingray badging it is not an 'option', the emblem will be displayed on all models.

#Stingray

Again, spouting off without a source.

Why don't you try providing a source with that dribble.

If there is Stingray Emblems appearing on the buildings, that means it will appear on the car. Those pictures were the source.

MCNAGTROC
its very (very) camaro in the rear with the high boxy lines above the tailights mixed with a lot of viper up front. so far i like the front not with the boomarang lights and 458 LED not sure about the rear though.

i mean damn

The front I like, it has that muscular Corvette look to me, even though it has similar ties to the Viper. But that rear is horrid. Looks like a smashed up Camaro rear :yuck:.

GM got it with the front and the side of the car, why ruin the rear? I was picturing the car with C4 or C5 like tail lights. That would set the car off.

You drive a POS Cobalt for a year and tell me how you like it. 👎

Nissan, Mazda FTW.

Same here. My family had a Dodge, lasted for 6 to 7 years until it died, and it was a 2002 Durango! It was running strong even when it had some problems.

I remembered our Accord and Maxima when I was little, lasted for a long time until we sold them.

We rented a Toyota Camry and a VW Jetta, loved driving those cars. Rented three Impalas, they were boring and lame FFs. The only GM I liked when we rented was the GMC Yukon.

The best Chevy cars of today are the Corvettes, Camaros, maybe the Cobalt SS, Silverados, Tahoes and Suburbans. And that's it. But I love the old Chevys though.

RACECAR
And this thread has now turned in a Viper vs Corvette thread

Yes, it has begun my friend.

Chevrolet is the greatest car brand in the world, not an opinion but a fact.

That's not the stingray emblem. It's just a revised version of the same emblem the car has used for years now.

Provide a new source.

Good one.

What are you talking about? that is the stingray emblem. Did you not see it? Look towards the middle of the page in the second picture.

It was the one used on the stingray concept.

So apparently the REAL rear end was leaked recently, can't post pics nownbecause im on the Ipad. It's astoundingly close to the renders, though...

What are you talking about? that is the stingray emblem did you not see it?:dunce:

It was the one used on the stingray concept just tweaked alittle.
That's not a stingray emblem, that's a slightly taller 'vette emblem.

If im correct, the older stingrays and the concept had emblems resembling actual stingrays.

Ohhh :dunce:

If it's a prop for the show then there's going to be SOME sort of stingray going on...unless photoshop.

I cant trust the internet anymore:indiff:

Well unless they unveil the car on Sunday with stingray plastered all over it, I'll believe it when I see it.

This. Pretty sure its no more then a refference to the nameplate it gets its cues from.

A single badge appearing on a projector somewhere is hardly proof. I wouldn't be surprised if Chevy was going to try to resurrect that name. If so, they're jumping on the retro bandwagon a bit late.

Is it just me or have most of Chevy's marketing campaigns of late been laughably uncool?

This whole Corvette teaser process hasn't been exactly riveting, the marketing in that new Schwarzenegger movie is too blatant, don't get me started on those unbearable ATS commercials during the Olympics, and I remember reading an auto journalist's tale of GM's press day for one of their new hatchbacks. They had the journalists drive to places like some organic fair-trade food mart with little cool kidz activities set up for them. The entire thing apparently reeked of "Trying way too hard."

I've been hearing those words to describe a lot of GM's cars lately. I agree.

It does indeed look like the Stingray logo.

1001gmhtp_52_z+oc_auto_show+corvette_stingray_concept_emblem.jpg

Doesn't have to mean anything but then again I wouldn't be surprised they resurrected that name to illustrate a change.

Stingray will be on the car. It's even on that building on the left side. It's been confirmed from trustworthy members of the Corvette forum who have seen the car in person and as well as the leaked CAD images from said members.

I'm on my phone from work, otherwise I'd post up proof. Hell, we have one day left anyways.

I'm on the fence about this car. I like where they are going with it but the rear body lines are a bit sketchy with the designs they are going with.

So Jalopnik is asking:

How Can Chevy Make The 2014 Corvette Appeal To Young Buyers?

Honestly, I don't think GM can. Unless they make the car the same price as a V8 Camaro or Mustang younger buyers simply can't afford it for the most part. There's nothing on a Corvette that makes it worth the $60,000+ price tag in my opinion, especially when you can get a Camaro with a very similar engine for half the price and pretty similar performance.

Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Depends on what's considered young, maybe simply making it desirable for a generation younger than baby-boomers is what they're aiming for right now and this might just be a first step towards making a Corvette in general a credible alternative to for example an Audi R8 or similar in the long run.

They ofcourse also still want to sell it to 'old guys' but the generation they relied on for a lot of years might not be able or willing to drive (and buy) a car like a Corvette in the years to come so an image-change (which isn't easy) is probably also necessary.

Make the Corvette appeal to younger buyers? Make it feel like a 60,000 dollar car. The chassis should be refined, the interior should be great, and the engine should be flexible yet slightly exotic in feel.

Hmm, interesting photoshop.

You'd have to give me a Camaro for free before I would consider it as an alternative to the Corvette. I see it the opposite, I wouldn't consider a Camaro at all while a Corvette is well worth the price, though I probably wouldn't spend much over $100,000 for one since I prefer the Z06 to the ZR1.

Price would be an issue for most buyers though, even if they want one they would need to afford it first. As far as desirability goes, I'd think you'd have to be soulless when it comes to cars to not be interested in one, but whatever.

Would you though? I bought my used C6 for the the same price as a new Camaro or Mustang GT.

Then again, I didn't want a 4 seat muscle car.
I wanted an affordable 2 door 2 seat sports car with near exotic performance and Corvette was it for me.

The legacy of the Stingray will not be denied.

Hmm, interesting photoshop.

The headlights look nearly identical on both cars.

I have zero interest in a Corvette that's not from 1953-1962, I think many young people are probably the same way. GM's put themselves into a bit of a bind by catering to an older audience. When I think of a Corvette nothing "young" comes to mind at all, all I see is fat, middle aged guys with expensive sunglasses who drive their Corvettes to the golf course on Saturday morning. Sure the ZR1 looks like a Hot Wheels car and had some more advanced stuff on it, but it's still over $100,000 so while it may appeal to the younger crowd, it's pretty unattainable for many of them.

As far as the Corvette being worth it, it just feels like a less expensive car inside and there's nothing really outstanding that makes me thing, ya it's a $60,000 car. I mean it feels no better than a $20,000 V6 Camaro. The only thing it's got going for it is the engine and there is no way that's worth that kind of money when I can go just as fast for less.

Would you though? I bought my used C6 for the the same price as a new Camaro or Mustang GT.

A Corvette makes a great used sports car, I won't deny that, but comparing something used to something new really isn't an apples to apples comparison. I mean a used Camaro is probably half the price of a used Corvette when compared year for year.

And of course there's always going to be reasons why someone would choose one over the other, but when it comes to pure performance only I don't see the reason for spending $60,000 to get a Corvette when a $30,000 Camaro will be nearly as good. So if I had my choice between the two, I'd get a Camaro over a Corvette

I'd get a 'Vette because, I hate everything about the normal Camaro it's ugly inside and out and has only got a V6 engine sure, you could go for a V8 but I would still rather spend extra money on a 'Vette because I would never be happy with a Camaro.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Camaro is awful and wouldn't want to own one, but if my choices were to buy either a Camaro or Corvette, a Camaro makes more sense to me since I'm getting nearly the same performance.
