I'll listen to the medical experts rather than a Daily Mail columnist thanks.
To be fair, he does cite some medical experts in the piece.

I remain unconvinced by his argument, but find it interesting nonetheless. Here was his column from last week.

It does remind us of the fallibility of scientists:

In a pungent letter to The Times last week, a leading vet, Dick Sibley, cast doubt on the brilliance of the Imperial College scientists, saying that his heart sank when he learned they were advising the Government. Calling them a ‘team of doom-mongers’, he said their advice on the 2001 foot-and-mouth outbreak ‘led to what I believe to be the unnecessary slaughter of millions of healthy cattle and sheep’ until they were overruled by the then Chief Scientific Adviser, Sir David King.

But considering there was an error in his reporting of the statistics coming out of Imperial I remain skeptical of his conclusions.

And the link leads to the Daily Mail - Really, like anybody is going to take anything published in that fear-mongering anger porn rag seriously. Not to mention that Peter Hitchens has a brain that struggles to function as well as a half developed amoeba. Edit - and to state that he actually has a brain is giving him unreasonable credit.

Get outta here - LOL.
So people can't question anything?

Interesting :)

It's very amusing to see wildly dissenting points of view in the midst of a crisis. Not everyone is going to be right. Out of the chaos reality will emerge. There will always be a few chickens running around in the barnyard after their heads are chopped off.

You will recognize your leaders - the elite few - by their genius, vision and discipline.

If we could trust statistics from Belarus, their approach could be used as a control arm

As the world scrambles to discover a cure for the coronavirus, the strongman leader of Belarus is promoting his own unique recipe for staying healthy: drink vodka, work hard in the countryside and visit the sauna.

President Alexander Lukashenko has mocked what he calls the “panic” gripping countries that have imposed lockdowns to minimise deaths.

“The world has gone mad from the coronavirus,” he said. “This psychosis has crippled national economies almost everywhere in the world.”

In Belarus, a former Soviet state of 9.5 million people, shops and markets are bustling, theatres are staging premieres and the borders remain open.

Anti-vaxxers I'm sure will have a say in that. But maybe this whole deal will change their minds?
I saw a woman tweet out an analogy against corona-naysayers asking if the percentages being so low to make it nothing to worry about, could they pick 1-2 people in a 10 person family to die? Would it be a big deal then?

An anti-vaxxer responded to that by saying "switch corona with vaccines" to come up with the narrative that we should approach vaccines the same way. Asking, why are we fine with pushing vaccinations then, if "2%" of them develop other complications. Just completely ignoring a bunch of different things that play into that conversation.

I stopped reading at this part. What journalist preemptively starts out on the defense before even sharing his opinion? "You guys attack me, therefore I know I'm right". Quality justification for an argument right there.
Next, I would like to thank all those who disagree with me, who choose to abuse me, often with lies, personal smears and swearwords. Your childish, intolerant reaction has strengthened me in my conviction that mine is the better case. If your policy is so good, why can you not defend it like civilised adults? Do you really think that I regret needless deaths any less than you? Can you not accept that I also have good motives?

If it was one scientist's opinion against another's then I'd be more inclined to pay it heed. However, the overwhelming consensus from the scientific community suggests we are doing the right thing or possibly not going quite far enough so I can't take the ramblings of an arse like Hitchens seriously.

That ought to do it

I saw a female Russian doctor being interviewed on Channel 4 last night and she stated that it's ok to go to church because you can't catch Covid-19 in church.

How? How does that kind of thinking also allow someone to be a doctor? I could see that silliness coming from a pastor.
Pastor Ronnie Hampton of New Vision Community Church, a Free Methodist Church Planting Project targeting the communities of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Washington, D.C., died Wednesday evening, a day after he tested positive for the new coronavirus also known as COVID-19, close family members told KSLA12 News.

Days before his death, he told supporters in at least two videos on social media, including one from his hospital bed, that Christians should not be afraid of the coronavirus and perhaps God was just using his infection to help him “get a little rest” or would use it to spread the Gospel.

Trump using the number of people viewing his daily briefings as proof of quite just how awesome he is

Shouldn’t his numbers be substantially higher than those examples considering Presidential speeches are simulcast on several channels? Only getting MNF level viewership seems rather low considering the circumstances.

I don't think he realizes that this White House and America thing aren't the next season of his show and he's all about them ratings. Shhhh nobody tell him

Lol common guys, it creates lots more problems on so many levels than it could ever help, if ever it did any.. Modern society of alcoholics or what? Jeez
