That figures on BMI is the most telling on life expectancy I've ever seen.

Seriously obese at 30+ BMI means you are nearly 60% chance of dying when in ICU with Covid-19, regardless of age.

So Denmark has just decided to send the 1-5 grade elementary school students back in class as the first step in slowly reopening our society next week. I struggle to see what this achieves other than being an unnecessary risk for all affected families.
I read that your government had said measures against large gatherings would be in place until August and then in the next sentence that they were potentially going to reopen nurseries and primary schools next week. Seem's like a very strange decision.

There's this really harmful idea in the US that you're weak for admitting fear of this virus and that the government is controlling your rights with the stay-at-home orders. People feel that continuing to go outside is their "rebellion" against "the man". Or even worse, their religious right.

A lot of people in charge are trying to spread a false sense of optimism. Optimism is great but not right now. We need to be realistic.

You think the eldest students would make more sense as they have final exams, better immune systems, and a better understanding of personal hygiene.

Or you just need to get outside. I went for a drive earlier, never left the car and came straight home after a trip through town. Shouldn't be anything wrong with that.

Or walking and making sure you have 6 feet clearance. I did a 2.1 mile walk just now (did 3.1 miles on Thursday) and I'm having no issue avoiding people.

That's fine, but it's the religious nuts that are purposefully disobeying the order to gather at church. The pastor of one church was arrested and fined, and then said publicly he will continue to disobey.

Then make the fine more and more upon each further fine (repossess the church if you have to) and do not make him eligible for any payment from the government. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

It won't stop them. They'll probably gather at one of the church-goer's houses or something stupid like that. Because Jesus is more important than self-preservation or preservation of society...

Something tells me we may be heading for a tinfoil shortage soon as well...
You are right. Its not as if we are living in times where you'll be called a bigot for saying a man cant be a woman or where italian mayors started a stupid 'hug a chinese' campaign' (Propagated by china btw } to prove they're not racist a couple weeks before the virus exploded in italy. Everything is a conspiracy. Next you're going to tell me police the police didnt cover up muslim rape grooming gangs because they didnt want to be called that word racist.

Remember when Trump was racist in January for stopping travel from china? and now he didnt act quick enough according to those who called him racist. Perhaps the tin foil comes from china and thats why the shortage.

Exactly. It's so infuriating to those of us with rational minds. Religion had a place ages ago when we didn't know what happened to the dead and we needed to feel better about the unknown. Then some other crap got involved and tried to tell people how to live their lives. It was all downhill from there.

At this rate, I'm gonna have to add some stabil to the gas tanks of my daily drivers.
Wouldn't it be fine to turn the engine over and drive around for a few miles once a week? Would that be enough to keep the car running well?

A tank of gas can still go bad. If you think that your gas tank is not going to empty in... like... 3-6 months, you might want to add stabil.

Mine is actually sitting on low fuel right now. I haven't filled up since I haven't gone out in a week or two. Hmm... I think I can put gas in and use it up in the next 6 months.

I filled up right at the beginning of all of this mess. Having gas seemed more useful than not having it. But I'm using each of the cars that don't already have stabil in them for about 2 extremely short trips per week... total... between the two of them. It's been a month already, and if this drags on for 2 more months, I'll have basically 2 full tanks that are 3 months old. Not terrible, but if it looks to extend past may I'll probably add stabil as soon as that's evident.

I want to give you some advice as someone who just went through all of this at my store & ended up laid off anyway.

I was told all this as well; extra PTO, 40 hours guaranteed, etc. if we didn't feel comfortable. There was a deadline given however, up til' today, April 4th. After that, if you took time off and ran out your PTO, the job was no longer protected.

Our company bragged about us staying open as an essential business and they appreciated all of us & promoted member safety. We were told we had a hiring freeze to protect us, that we would run business as usual, but with appointments needing to be made by clients beforehand, for our benefit. Leadership sent emails everyday at 5pm about constantly talking with local officials about the virus. And we did the whole sanitize everything, too. But that was to keep us all busy as they would threaten to send hourly people home if they didn't do anything. Many of us had continued wondering why they didn't heed any warning about closing down.

Despite all this, sales & service still dropped drastically. Sales staff schedules were altered to one-day on, next-day off. Service teams were staggered to combat lack of cars coming in. Service lot dried up & the client parking was down to 1-2 cars throughout the day. Leadership emails stopped coming 4 days ago. So, despite everything we were reassured about, as today's deadline approached, they had already made the decision in advance that they would do a company-wide lay off. I was 1 of 100 or so to get a phone call, that I already had a package coming in the mail. My store is now running on just enough to keep it still going & it has severed the relationships people once had as far. Even clients have shared they won't do business with them anymore with the way it was handled.

Watch how your store's business is doing & don't buy into anything your management tells you. The chain of command is watching their numbers drop, and will either take a hit to keep everyone or they'll start furloughing/laying off people to save their bottom line.

I get the feeling we could possibly be heading that way. But the higher ups play like they care, especially doing the daily updates at 4PM. Pretty much always saying "we have 0 confirmed cases in the company!" The CEO even gave his personal cell phone number to show that he "cares" about everyone's concerns.

Sales has been selling a few cars here and there, although most were ordered units. Service is very slow, but somewhat steady with a few appointments here and there. They were saying that people "wouldn't be laid off," but who knows how that will go.

What hurts even more is that management bragged that they advertised to people out of state, like Massachusetts as those dealers were shut down. Obviously, as we know, that's not a good thing to bring people from a larger state with a higher number of infected into another....

Slovakia is introducing temporary travel restrictions within the temporary travel restrictions. Over the coming week and long weekend, it will not be permitted to leave your county. Slovakia is divided into 8 counties:

It is to prevent people traversing the country over Easter, potentially spreading the infection nationwide. There is a cultural context to consider; it is very common for everyone in Slovakia to return to their family's original village to celebrate Easter. Absolutely everyone does it multiple times a year. Mainly, it is those who have moved to the more metropolitan west of the country, where there are currently more cases and better infrastructure, returning to the more rural east of the country, where there are currently fewer cases and less infrastructure.

The inter-county ban will be lifted on Easter Monday.

I'm still trying to figure out what Utah is doing differently than other states. Right now our cases are not climbing very fast, our mortality rate is fairly low, and we have one of the best testing per capita in the nation. We're also projected to have fewer than 200 deaths, have more than enough ICU beds, and not run out of ventilators, although PPE is coming up short in a big way. Despite all this, we are still one of the 9 states that do not have a lockdown order and we had a whole flock of Mormons come in from all over the world. We also have Utah County which is a special kind of stupid and still has people congregating.
