How long would you like to race the CRZ's

I'm happy with a 15-20 second or even more difference between the cars, in the WSM last season the difference between the cars was massive, on an almost all flat-out created track, I was pole with 1:06, Alfa Zagato pole was 1:25, which is nearly 30% difference in speed.

My best lap, so far, in the Honda is 1'59.512, so assume I would probably the slowest on the track.

With some alluded to times above, that's a 15+ second gap at this point.

The battery will not be recharged from pitting, what recharges it is braking. It's fundamentally the same as F1's KERS. Except, you have no control as to when the energy is released.

Any time you are braking charge is going back into the battery. Not sure about off throttle - the charge indicator shows charging but there isn't really any energy to use, so when off throttle probably best to assume that it's not charging but not depleting it either.

That makes sense, as I was braking and changing brake settings prior to the pit stop. However, that's interesting about the "off throttle" you mentioned.

I will try and replicate the scenario.

Thanks, Zorrin. 👍

Ill have a go in the Stock CR-Z to give you guys something to aim for and yeah 1:45s are possible in the Spoon Josh ;).

No, it will not charge just because you have the brake pedal pressed, it's all about converting energy from one form to another.

If you are stationery then there is not a lot of energy available. You only have potential energy, if you like, in the form of the idling engine. And if just idling does recharge the battery in this case, it would be so minimal, at a guess, that you are not going to notice it.

In this case the system is using the energy created by slowing down, quite how it harvests that energy I have no idea, and converts that to potential energy stored in the battery.

To be honest the battery is going to become ballast pretty quickly on the race track. So best bet is to not really worry about its charge as there's no control for when you use the extra power it can provide.

Any boost to the battery you try gain by being off throttle you're going to lose in lap time.

At a guess I'd say the smooth drivers will get more out of their batteries, whether this is noticeable or not is another thing. Either way come midway in the race it's likely to be a level playing field.

Take the above with a pinch of salt, I'm not an expert!

Did 2 quick 3 lap runs and my pb with the Honda CR-Z is a 1:55.855. I had a lap where I was .3 up in S1 but screwed up the chicane so there is deffinatly another few tenths in it.

That would make the gap around 11 seconds to the Spoon ;).

Just done two 10 lap runs.

Spoon: battery ran out at the start of Lap 7. Tuned to max BHP (not broken in) ran ballast to meet PP. Wrong gearing so missing 6th running very sloppy 47s.

Standard: battery ran out around lap 6.

Interestingly the Spoon regained charge on lap 8 and for 9 and 10 seemed to be self supporting.

Standard, hadn't regained enough by lap 10.

Ran sloppy 57s.

The battery does indeed charge anytime you are off throttle. So yes, it recharges in the pits but only because the engine is idling.

Funny I ran my batteries out within 5 laps in both cars .

Doesn't look good for me on May 20th. Good luck guys.

Looking forward to the next 3D3 event, Tim! I do believe I have my internet problem solved......and the mic as well.....XP500!

Thanks all for signing up
@Wes I hope you get your wheel sorted soon 👍
Well, I'm finally getting a new one.:)

Now it can't go wrong anymore, can it?

Thx to JTV's tip yesterday, i was able to cut about 1 second off my lap time. The line i was using for corner 3 and 4 was making me lose precious time and after he had noticed it, he told me to adjust it. And behold, im now almost competitive. Cut my time from an average high 47-low 48's to very low 47s. So i have to thank JTV once again. Or else would be racing by myself come 20th of May.

And from the practice runs we had yesterday, the Honda Division will be very close. Very Very close.

I guess I'm a little slow on the registration; if it's already full, but me on the reserve list, Hass.

SagarisGTB / sagarismic / Poland / Spoon CR-Z / Matte Black / Black

Theres still room 👍

No problem, cya in 3D3 races

Just in time for the Acadamy for you 👍

A point w-g-e came up with is that the Honda's seem a little slow, especially if they're racing alone. Any possibility they can be upgraded a little?

I understand, but the main reason behind it was to keep one class tuned and the other untuned, also the Spoons should be around and about after a bit. If I was to introduce an upgrade to the Honda there is always the chance of someone exploiting it, even though all the drivers who have signed up I trust that they wouldnt do it. Also I would have to up the PP on the Spoon to.

I hope to do a quick race this saturday at about 7.30PM (GMT) 8.30PM (BST) night, 15 laps before the WRS (3D3) race. Im busy next weekend so I cant make plans for then.
Its not mandatory to join, and you should be able to get an idea of what the full race will be like. Then if there is anymore questions or queries I will be able to get them sorted over the weekend and give 2 weeks till the race 👍.
Ill run another quick race during the week before the race around about 8pm (GMT) 9pm (BST)

Also regarding the BHP of the Honda CRZ, the one I was testing with was at 126bhp, when I did some runs with JTV he was at 128bhp so I got a new one and sent bob on his way, and it is 128bhp stock sorry about all the confusion.

Weird, mine is 123 BHP and it's fully run in for sure.

w-g-e you've been driving pink cars too long its turning you into a woman :P.

Paul, clarification; when you say "stock" and "no tuning" on the Standard, that means no customizable transmission, suspension, drive train, etc., correct; even though that has no effect on HP or PP?

I would think those would be allowable. Just my thoughts. Damn, can't redline anywhere in 4th on that track in the standard!

Premium Honda CR-Z '10

This car is stock with no upgrades so its all up to the drivers skill.

Premium Spoon CR-Z

This car is tuned to however u like add ballast for more hp, keep the weight off for the corners or use the engine limiter its up to you.
If you compare these I think you know the answer.;)

Nevermind, it can still be confusing.:dopey:
The car has to be completely stock, no changes in the setup.

Hey guys, looks like I have the 20th off, I haven't had a chance to run ether car yet. If its OK I would like to run them this weekend, and I will pick and sign up by Monday.

No tuning at all is available for the honda, when the Hondas enter the track tunning will be Prohibited so it wont let you on track if any tunning parts have been added 👍.

No problem 👍, Im doing a little race tonight at 7.30pm (GMT) 3.30pm (EST). If you want to come by and try them out in a race.

Ill be hosting the race in my lounge today so if people would like to join you will need to send a FR to GTP_Hasslemoff.

If you do that, then even the Spoon CR-Z cannot have any tuning parts, and then they will not be able to hit the track.

I'll be adding you right now, but I'll not be able to make the test race today.

Once all the Honda's have entered the pit the regulations will be changed for the Spoon's PP limit. As the Spoon has a higher PP the Honda's currently in pit will not be kicked off track.

Dont worry about not making the race today its only a little test race if not many turn up i'll probably just do some shorter races. To try out each class.

Thanks Jon.

I'm running some practice laps for a bit now if anyone wants to join me in my lounge. Probably be in for about an hour.

Never thought in that way.
