I wonder if the Remote Racing B Spec Widget will work with the new PSN.

Cant see why not. the widget only replicates a browser.
if not, he just need minor adjust i imagine.
I'm writing this from a tent. went to National home guard today.
sleepin outside :/ :D no need for psn til I get home friday. I'll be firing my Ag3 weapon all these days to rid me off built Up Psn Preasure!
A lotta steam is allready released! haha. 250 rounds til now. I'll head deep down in sleeping bag now. later fellow planet mates!

@ time_attack
How it hard to understand?

that is called short term memory.
So far, its not like, everything sony say, sony do.

and i'm pretty sure giving away games like Fat princeess or a pixel junk wont help much.

A few more days points to potentially this weekend. One can only hope.

That's all you can do buddy is hope. It's not like sony is going to give you a definitive timeline, they did and they missed it.

How many times in how many press release's have they said " just a few more days " "1-2 days" , how many times can a company stall without giving any actual "real information"... ? They won't give us any real information because it's a 'current security issue' - wow what an easy out of having to actually answer questions that are put to you.
What a joke.

Anyone else get the impression they are stalling to give them time to catch the person responsible ? It would be a PR nightmare if they said the service was secure with all new security measures and then someone took it down 2 days later....

Is it feasible that they are waiting for the person to be caught before releasing the new PSN ? They can't just come out and say that because then the public would say " Omg bs no way you can't do that, it could be months before you catch him " - so instead they stall for a week at a time until he is caught? - Just a theory.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Either way this carrot that they dangling with the free offer when it comes back online doesn't actually sound that great?

PSN plus ... for only a month? Are they so cash strapped they couldn't do a 3month offer ? Thanks but no thanks?

Free DLC - I hope i'm gonna get a choice which add-on or map-pack i get to use. Again they haven't provided any information just dangled the carrot in your face. They don't even say if you can get DLC for games, all they say is " free entertainment content for download "

Music/Qriocity - Are you kidding me ? Your giving me a subscription to download music for free for 30 days? Cheers but i can get unlimited music for free for 30,000 days on this thing called the Internet.

Who on earth thought of this "welcome back" program ? Does this welcome back program actually appeal to others?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a shame there isn't another decent platform avaliable, the x360 just has too many shortcomings in my eye's to warrant jumping ship, but then aside from PC gaming you don't have much choice.

Anyone else not touched there PS3 for more than an hour during the last few weeks?
I come home, do 1-3 laps of the ring then get bored because there is no one to race with and turn it off.
FPS games are just worthless without online multiplayer, there's only so many difficulties to do the 4-6hour campaign on.

I'm with you Skope, but at least they are giving something up to us. I have not touched GT since the outage. TTed to death in 2,3,and 4, no more of that boring crap for me, but my I can still COD to death on my 360.

Scaff,

There was only 1 of the 8 PSN servers running 2.2.17. The other 7 PSN servers (that I listed in the previous post) were running 2.2.11. The google cache only shows 1 of the 8 servers.

Do you have the source for those (google cache would be ideal)?

If that is the case, I hope that's what they are doing.

Don't complain. The fact they are giving us ANYTHING is more than enough. The only thing I feel they owe us is the credit monitoring service, which we get as well, for free, for a whole year.

Netflix? Movies? Other games? 💡

I turn mine on every night when I get home from work and shut it off a few minutes before bed. It's not a Gran Turismo machine, it's a gaming/movie machine. Use it as such.

Yeah i mean i don't wanna sound ungrateful because they are giving us something.

But when you break it down and look at what they are giving ya, it doesn't seem to be much of anything?

New update from the PS Blog:

Just spotted thgis via twitter link.
PSN Restoration Timeline Update

May 10th, 2011 @ 09:59 am › Patrick Seybold

I know you all want to know exactly when the services will be restored. At this time, I can’t give you an exact date, as it will likely be at least a few more days. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

^^^^^^^^^^^^

Don't see it.

Both on the last page, 6 posts between them. 👍

My 4 year old PS3 chose a perfect time to die (can't read game or movie discs any more). I'm hopeful that online gaming will be back by the time my new PS3 arrives:)

I've been a huge fan of racing games for over a decade, but I had never raced online till about 6 months ago. Yeah, now that I know how awesome online racing is I do really miss the PSN, but I know I was able to enjoy racing games before and I'll still be able to enjoy GT5 without it.

I guess it all depends on your point of view, and I'm pretty sure we're all allowed to have our own. 👍

F1 top gear track or just doing arcade races is fun. I can't do any B-Spec because I set all my bobs to share before the outage, so I can't take them off share or retire them to make a new one :(

Yer you can enjoy it but not for as long, and true onliners just can’t at all. You can race online on tracks you really know and win a lot but someone always comes along that blows you away. You go away and practice and shave off the seconds you need then the tenths then the hundredths. The replay value is now 100 time that of offline because of this, and once you go back to the offline Ai, they just aren’t a challenge any more. I only play racing games and been doing online race series on the ps3 for nearly 4 years now, and like some of the others i race with, i am thinking about going to Iracing. This shut down has turned a lot more people away from PS3 or thinking of doing it. The ps3 hardware problems means you can pay as much as a good pc over 3 or 4 years any way, and now the hacking issues has made me rethink my loyalty to console gaming. As i said before I only play racing games and with the delay of Grid 2, f1 2010 bugs, gt5's 6 year wait and now no online why should I stay loyal. Some have gone out and bought an Xbox and some have upgraded their pc's, some may stay but some won't be back the way they were before all this happened. My kids have got control of the ps3 at the moment and i'm getting my pc up to scratch to better make use the new Iracing2 out soon. This whole issue of hacking then theft has cost Sony entertainment more than they think I feel, any way my kids are happy they got the PS3 cos I can’t play it for too long against those crappy AI racers.

Like you i am considering the jump to Iracing. Watching the Aus/NZ V8 Supercar Iracing battles in the Iracing Video's thread gets me all excited.

And all the reasons you mention above.

Yer that’s what’s got me in and a local lad Mitch won the last div one v8 series, so hopen to get straight into that series. Probably not div 1 but it’s still a real good series to get into and backed by the real deal V8 supercars. A few of the racers are real supercar drivers, be good ego boost with bragging rights to beat a real driver in an online race i feel.

When you look at the fact that, as of March, 2011, the total sales for the PlayStation 3 are 50 million, you would think that there are only about 50 Million PlayStations kicking around.

By the way, I am sorry that the default web browser for the PS3 doesn't play the free porn from the internet very well, but it is really worth attacking the PlayStation network and disabling the online game play for (77 Million?) people because you can't watch porn anymore?

So it's only 50 untill you want it to be 77?

The ps3 browser is lame but that does not have anything to do with porn. Are you sure people disabled the psn because of this?

Its likely to be more than 77 million PS3's, given how many people including myself lost their PS3 Fat to the YLOD.

Also I agree with you sk0pe, 1 month free PSN+.. wow I'm so grateful for sony to give me 1 free month when my name and address and potentially CC number is in the hackers hands... I totally appreciate 1 month of PSN+ when I could potentially face some serious issues of having to clear my name when bad credit starts coming in and I receive debt letters etc.

Also ( with some google power ) The fact that it's been reported that :

A. they were using out of date security software
B. None of the information stored on their servers were encrypted
C. They refused to spend money to protect its customers in order to ( IMHO ) project
higher profit margins at the end of the financial year.

Does not surprise me in the least, I mean think about it, I would not be surprised if the Japanese Government in some way or another, Told large corporations to pay additional taxes in order to help rebuild the towns and villages close to Fukushima and of course the area's that got absolutely obliterated when the Tsunami originally struck.

A rebuild operation like that will come into the tens of millions of dollars and surely the average Japanese person would not be able to cough up that kind of cash in a short timeframe to pay for building materials, Electricity grid being reinstated, New sewage works, Re-Laying of tarmac to build a road infrastructure again, On top of the insurance claims that is likely to come out of all this.

Not to mention that it's possible that IF at some point that people's credit card information starts getting used by whomever is responsible, that those affected will also in turn Sue Sony for their lack of protecting us and our confidential information.

My answer give the offline ai a handicap to suit your ability if that means racing Ferrari's with a Fiat or pushing a street spec Skyline to its limits in JGTC. there is always an answer ! ! !💡

R1600Turbo - Don't complain. The fact they are giving us ANYTHING is more than enough. The only thing I feel they owe us is the credit monitoring service, which we get as well, for free, for a whole year.

I paid $799 NZD for my PS3, thinking it had Other OS feature which means i can use my own browser not the terrible one they forced upon me, and also so i could play Online games with mates.
Currently i can't do either of these two, one of them i never will be able to do again and the second one still doesn't have a time as to when i will be able to use it.

I'm pretty sure spending $799 + the 8 games each $109NZD each entitles me to have some half decent compensation when i can't use the 2 main features i bought it for in the first place... Think about it.

Just me alone, one little guy in new zealand has spent $1600 NZD on his PS3 + games. There is 70,000,000 thats 70million people who probably spent roughly the same as me, and this is how they repay us? . They don't owe us anything when the system goes down, or they take features away permanently? Hmmm
They can't give everyone $10-$25 in their PSN wallet to spend on DLC that they actually want ? It's a joke mate, even the most ardent Sony Supporter can surely see that.

Edit : this was removed, i removed the one swear word. Fair enough scaff.

It's all a big pile of steaming shame.

I never thought I would say this, but the breach and Sony's ineptitude & arrogance dealing with it have made me think about joining the other side when the next generation of consoles comes along.

In the interim I even upgraded my PC's processor, video card and ram so I could play games without feeling slightly annoyed. I call it my Playstation 3.5 (Motionjoy drivers enable my DS3s to emulate X360 pads).

I am just one of a massive number of people let down by Sony. Maybe they should just concentrate on making TV's.
