Cutting corners in Indy

Sadly thats how Iam feeling also. I'd rather just not race if this keeps happening. It didnt bother me really in the 1st round, but with these later rounds its just ridiculous. Yea I know its for a chance to become a real race driver blah, blah, but when you get to the real track jumping corners isnt gonna be good for the car. Even in Orlando they probably aren't going allow it.

Sponsor may have one or more race judges on site to monitor contestants during competition. The race judges (whose judgment on all race matters is final) may monitor races and may issue warnings for behaviors that violate standard rules for professional racing. Examples include:

• A slower driver that is holding another driver up can be asked to move over. Failure to comply would result in a warning.
• Any driver that is overly aggressive or hits another driver
• A driver deliberately cutting a corner
• A driver not moving over when asked

I was messing around 1 lap and botched it a few tenths... and I took that detour straight past turn 10, and put a second on my ghost scoring up to 2nd place in my region(at the time). I don't know why I finished the lap but I was pretty stunned how mowing cut a second off, was hoping no one else would figure it out.

But instead of letting the time update I shut down my ps3 and dumped the time... I would have felt so bad. That is explicit cheating to their rules, and should be punished, as I'm sure it will.

This is exactly why I didn't put the effort into round 1. What is PD doing?? I do not recall hearing such funny business for the U.K. GTA or did I miss something? Good luck guys, just when we thought it would be better... BTW, I read somewhere that people are dropping tires in the dirt on Toscana to slide around the track as well.... I haven't seen any replays but I will definitely check it out when I can.

Thanks for looking it up. Now only if they would enforce it online.

Edit:
Its worst than I thought. I believe that has made my decision for going on with this. Until something is done about this Iam not wasting my time with this joke. :banghead:

In the last GT Academy there was trouble with people cutting turn eleven. I believe that after the issue was raised it was established that anyone caught doing so would have that lap invalidated.

I'm not sure anyone even thought to cut turn nine though, it'll be pretty shocking if anyone gets away with it...

 I think no one in the last academy even thought about that  I surely never did.. :P "good" thinking!!

:ouch:

There is another guy that has just done it also, but even worse. He skipped the next hairpin also. Putting him .4 over 2nd place with a controller overall. This is just a joke. Also Iam rendering the video using the racer_ohms guy replay.

omgwtf @ TUNERUSA...hes got a 1:49.8xx with the grass cuts.

I hope PD says something about this. If this is allowed then I'm gonna start mowing, because anyone who doesn't won't advance to the next round. I don't wanna sit back and just hope PD will DQ the cutters, because if they don't then all the people who kept it clean will be screwed.

There wasn't a problem on this track during the last Academy. It never crossed anyone's mind to do it. They are looking for a racing driver, not a gamer. I'm not going to judge anyone on their decision on whether to do it or not in their efforts to progress but I would suggest that the more people who can resist cutting corners the better. If there's only a handful of people doing it, it should be fairly straightforward to highlight this to the organisers and have them removed from the competition based on the rules highlighted in a previous post. I remember something similar happening in the first GT Academy when there were a couple of people bouncing off the walls at Eiger. However, if a lot of people give in to the dark side the task for the organisers becomes much more difficult and complaints may be less likely to be a success if half the field are involved. If the spirit of the competition is not upheld and the outcome is that Sony and Nissan don't get a suitable winner I suppose the future of the competition might even be called into question. That might sound extreme, but if you abuse it you might lose it.

It's in the hands of those remaining in the competition to make it a good one - remember that you do have a choice.

Good luck all.

It took alittle longer from a dumb move on my part. Iam just going to not do this Academy anymore. If they do something I may put in some work, but with this taken place it just takes all of my drive away.:grumpy:

@Slap - This was all developing after I turned my PS3 off for the night and I seriously under estimated how bad it was. I've had a couple laps where both front tires are in the grass on the left before the hairpins and I've gone 3 wheels on the grass around the hairpins.

For some reason, probably because the time wasn't that fast, I just didn't expect such blatant cheating.

While this clown won't get far in the finals, if PD doesn't do something about it he'll take a spot away from someone deserving.

@TRC_Hunk - TUNERUSA is by far my favorite cheat! 2nd quick overall time, with a controller no less, and his Toscana time is 1:47.8, 3.6s slow. That dude has some huge balls.

If they end up having to wipe the scoreboards because of this i'm gonna throw a hissy fit. I did my fukin lap at tuscana with no ABS... Hopefully they will just clear those idiots off the scoreboard.

A 1'49.3 has been set at Indy. Surprisingly he is isnt close at Toscana.
:dunce:

@Conman - great laps. Is ABS:0 faster with the GT500's? With street cars it's terrible, but I think with rally cars it can be better not to have ABS at all.

That is ridiculous cheating. When the John Deere Club was goofing off last week we were at Top Gear Test Track and someone (with others following) straight up cut off an entire corner - I said "wow, that is REAL cheating," ...and that was the John Deere Club.

That is exactly what we have here. I suppose the purists could blame it on the Cape Ring drivers in round 1 for setting a precedent - but at least we actually completed all the turns on the course...

I won't even bother attempting this cheat - there's no good prizes on the line anyway. 1st place has the same prize as 16th place: welcome to round 3, enjoy another copy of GT5 that you don't need.

EDIT: LoL!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahah scrolled up the thread and saw the vid and it made meg go LOL!

LoLoL

Just watched the replay for TunerUSA. 1:48.869 with a double cut of the hairpins. I won't run another lap in this mess. Not because I can't win because I couldn't anyway. But seriously what's the point now?

Its gotten to double cuts? wow. I got a little frustrated at the double and just wiped the wheel over out of the first and now im pissed its my fastest time. ON the bright side of things im proud I can run 1.51.5xx without it

TUNERUSA, CHEMDOGX420, racesimmer - congratulations, you posted top times at Indy. Now everyone can download your laps and see how bad you are at driving.👎

None of you even have good splits until the double-hairpin cut. You are tentative with your braking points, you don't have a good handle on weight transfer, your line isn't very good, and the worst part of all - you aren't even that good at the shortcut!

Wow, holy cow!

Hey, do you have a picture of the car somewhere? I want to see what kind of mower deck is on that thing. :)

For the record, the John Deere Club does NOT condone this kind of activity.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Has anyone tried to contact "authorities" about this?

It´s horrible, but at the same time, if Sony doesn´t do something, doesn´t reset those times, then i think most people will put up a "dirty lap" on the last day so they won´t be disqualified from the competition.

By this evening i´m sure the entire top 20 will be cutters and at least one good driver will make it (with a 47 or so).

I think we have 2 options at this point.

Option 1: Run CLEAN laps at Indy, contact "authorities", and let the cheaters cheat. Publicize the issue (it makes PD/Sony look pretty bad) and hope that something is done about it quickly.

Option 1.1: Is there any chance that reporting the drivers doing the cheating using a complaint form: http://np.us.playstation.com would work?

Option 2: If, by Sunday night, there's no acknowledgment from Sony/PD/Nissan, join the cheaters... :yuck:

I would be quite shocked if this was condoned and the laps upheld. I will not even attempt to cut a corner like this. If they actually let this stuff happen, and I don't make the top 16 because of it, then I don't want to be part of the competition anyway, because the Academy would be proven to be a big joke. I REALLY hope PD does something about this IMMEDIATELY.
