For those becoming disheartened by the cheating, I would say that you should continue to drive honestly because I'm sure common sense will prevail. If, as many of you seem to think, these guys' times are otherwise unimpressive, then continue to use them as a target, because you will get all the more pleasure from beating them honestly, I know I would :D

If the fastest people remain those who have cheated, it will look terrible for PD and Nissan, so I am almost certain they will have their times removed. So don't be too disappointed if on deadline day you miss the cut by one or two places with corner-cutters above you, because chances are you will be invited to the next round in their place.

The times ARE impressive in the long run. What's not impressive are their split times. They are all running laps that at best would get them in the 1:51 flat region, by cutting those corners they are gaining an unreasonable amount of time. However I agree that if you come 18th or so, you probably will get through to round 3.

After searching through the GTP members database, it would appear that NONE of them are GTP members. I guess thats a good thing...however I was kinda hoping to flame one or two of them....

Jeez his first split is a 1:29.8 thats .8 slower than my pb and .5 slower than my current lap. And I'm like 43rd. If a controller user makes it out of round 2 it better be because he's insane with it (or she ;) ) That lap is total BS.

It's too bad that PD didn't do a better job of outlining the tracks ... that's the source of the problem. They could have, at least, chose a better track, like madrid, that didn't have any places to get off the track.

Not to be negative completely ... I LOVE TOSCANA! and that car!!

"If the game allows you to do it, its not cheating, its taking advantage of every tool in your shed, if you decide not to take advantage of this for a chance of a lifetime that's your loss, but I don't mind going off track if its allowed. If everyone can do it, noone has any real advantage and its not cheating.

Now I am seeing just about every single person now eat their own words because this is so bad. You all set the example in round 1 saying that the "whatever it takes" attitude is the way to go and "if its allowed its legal".

You see that feeling you all have inside when you see these guys cutting? Thats the same feeling you gave several people who did not want to drive off in Cape. Just sayin.

I know this is much worse than Cape, much worse, but off track driving is off track driving and you guys all defended it to the death, and now your all saying "oh noes he's cheating ahhh".

So if we go by what all the top guys said in Round 1, we would be "stupid" not to cut the track because then we wouldn't be "Taking advantage of every opportunity."

Don't bring up an old topic man. We're all agreeing on this right now because it's corner CUTTING. Which is making the track SHORTER.
We weren't all on the same page in round 1, but you could easily make it through by not swinging wide, I know I did (even though I was an advocate for running off).
We are all in agreement that this is wrong, can we just leave it at that?
 
I think the easiest thing they could do is wipe the Indy boards and give us a different car with RWD.
 
maybe PD left this out in purpose because it will make it for 'better TV' if they show the GT Academy on SPEED channel like the reality shows.... with fights and stuff

seriously though, i hope that a lot of people won't start copying the cutting to the point that the aliens themselves are in the bubble.... because then the aliens will have to do it

I think they should give a different track, personally. I think it's messed up that they're running the same track as last year, gives a real advantage to those who ran it last year.

Either way, I agree they should wipe the indy boards, especially as its only day 2.

Sure thing, it's just a bit funny that's all. Going wide, or cutting the track shorter, it was all going off track in order to gain time and was admitted that without going off track you couldn't get one of the top prizes so why not do it.

We can leave it alone. :)

I gurantee by the next few days all of the top times will be cutting, several people in the top 128 are not on these boards, and will cut once they see the replay because they feel like they have to and its now part of the competition. Just like they did once they saw all of you guys off roading at Cape.

Yeah, I despise this track anyway. Was really looking forward to Madrid.
 
Although I used the pit exit on Cape ring to help my position, I feel as this is a blatant disregard to rules and for Sony, Nissan, and PD to allow this as acceptable is wrong. I have called and left messages to the marketing departments of both Sony, and Nissan USA about this. If you guys want to do the same, The numbers to the corporate offices are

i'm about to test this in practice mode to see if it's going to be redlapped or not.... if it is then PD totally did this in purpose
 
I feel the same way as many of you but if they allowed the mowing of the lawn at the cape then this will probably sadly be allowed also. I will wait for Sunday night and if nobody has been wiped off the board for cutting and i still need some time to make up, then corner cutting here i come. As of right now i have a clean respectable 1:51.495
 
Guys this thread should be saved and documented somehow as something to present to the moderators of this competition. I have the upmost confidence that something will be done and that these jokers that enter the top 10 will either have THEIR time removed or will be completely disqualified from the competition. I definitely would advise everyone to not do something like this. Not only is it degrading to your character but you will probably be disqualified :).

Having said that... if the moderators of the contest are blind and are not noticing this, then the only way we will get their attention is if we all organize a movement to point this out in a very VERY quick manner. None of us can afford to sit here and think that someone else will call/email/etc the proper authorities on this. So it would be in our best collective interest to go ahead and have EVERYONE email/call/etc and get this matter fixed in a proper time frame. If this is allowed to continue, then any of us can easily take legal action... which will probably be enough to fund a racing career anyways :).

Wow.......wow.....I came in here expecting a bunch of slow cry babies .......but this.....this is ridiculous cheating. I'm against the John Deer Club but the advantage wasn't enough for me to complain...... but this is on a whole new level of cheat.

Thankfully it looks like nobody has done this in the North East yet as fixbywire is still at the top...... but it's just a matter of time I think.

Here is what PD/Nissan need to do. Wipe the Indy times, sucks but if you can't repeat your time then you shouldn't be here anyways. Next they need to set the system to store the videos of EVERYONE, not just the top 10. Why? Because now PD can go through the videos at the end and kick people out of the top 16 for cheating, without people complaining "well how do we know the guy in 17th didn't do it too???!!!".

This is what should have been implemented from the start. Imagine knowing that PD is going to review your lap after the event is over...... makes you question if cutting the corner or putting 3 off is worth the risk. This would def make the John Deer Club think twice about mowing yards like in round 1. To do this event properly you need to review the top 16 vids and look at further videos if needed.

If clean keeps you out of the 16, I'd start rolling up my sleeves and getting my hands dirty:)

By the end of the week, I expect to be in the 1:50.4 and 1:43.x range. If that's good enough to get top 16th in the Northeast, I'm not going to touch that grass.

Unless ALL the top drivers start cutting, I should be fine. It looks like a lot of the cutters thus far are absolute hacks who are 2nd tier drivers anyway. There are about 7 guys right now who have put up times that are "too" fast, yet only 2 of them are faster than me overall right now.

EDIT - Jordan mentioned that a respected source indicated laps would be reviewed. However, since no one was DQ'd from round 1, Jordan concluded that either A) the source was wrong, or B) it never came together. There could be another possibility: C) laps were reviewed, but deemed "good enough" - this is probably NOT going to be the case for round 2.
 
it should not be hard to code parameters on what constitutes cutting corners. Any other racing simulation can do it quite well. two tires have to be within the white line at any point.. THAT IS WHY THERE IS A FRAKKING WHITE LINE lol!

Besides the complaint system sent above, i think it would be in our best interest to contact gaming news sites, blogs, etc about this . Blues News, Virtual R, RaceDepartment, etc.

Most of them are mid 45's+ at Toscana. Almost laughable if there wasn't so much cool stuff on the line.

What a shame! I plan on harassing the NA GTAcademy facebook at least. Phone calls and e-mails are next. :ouch:

And why can't people cut track while racing but they can do it during time trials?

I already commented on a post - my name is Nick Fontana...feel free to pour more fuel on the fire. One of the cutters posted on facebook claiming he just followed the ghost across the grass... Really...you just "followed" the ghost?! 👎
 
I'm not going to stoop to their level. I wasn't expecting to make round 3 anyways with all the robots out there.
