Cutting corners in Indy

I reported this post to our GT Planet admins and asked in my report if any mods/admin/site creator may have some connections with Sony/PD and could help us out. I was feeling jest about the situation earlier but this could really ruin things this week if its not taken care of soon.

My post on the playstation forums:

This really needs to be taken care of. The top times in Indy are from drivers cutting the last 2 hairpins. By doing this they cut up to 3 seconds off of their time. I, and quite a few others consider this to be cheating. I would imagine that Sony has all of the laps recorded on a server for review. Another note to this, I can't imagine that this would be ok at the finals in Orlando. The participants that are cheating should be booted from the competition and the remaining people should have their times reset. The playing field should be of people that truly are capable of winning the prize ethically.

If nothing is done about this, I will get rid of my PS3, GT5, and my Nissans. I will also never buy another product from any of those companies again. I feel as this is a very large black mark on the sponsors of this event if this is allowed to continue.

I have to imagine (hope) that PD/SCEA are scrambling right now to figure out a solution to this. They may be trying to find a way to do it without stopping. It's also possible that all of the times have replays on a server but they only allow us to see the top ten. If this is the case they need to let us know that they will be going through them to DQ people after the event.

Every person on this list ahead of me is cutting. Does that mean I'm technically in first? :sly:

I just downloaded and am in the process of recording all of these times:

They'll be uploaded in a couple hours. Going out for a bit. I'm gonna call Sony and Tweet to Kaz. Unacceptable.

I have reported everyone of these users on the links given in the posts before. Everyone should do the same! I am glad to see we are taking action.

I mean hey.. if they do nothing about it i am sure a nice handsome lawsuit that forces Sony/Nissan to fund a starting career in racing to 500 people would be hilarious :).

For what it's worth, i am going to contact RaceDepartment, Virtual R, Blues news, and other gaming sites about this so at least it pressures them even more.

So 19 in all cutting right now. Everyone above fix right?

I'm at work and haven't checked any replays other than the videos that were posted so this is all speculative but I'd guess that it is pretty close. I'm sure there are others that are cutting as well but are further down the overall list because their times at Toscana suck.

I know this isnt everyone because Racer_ohms was the first we noticed but here

And great job camasi!

I'm checking only rankings in 2-1.
Also if anyone is calling Sony or PD or whoever, they should direct them to come to this forum!

Someone in the midwest should watch THEGREATONE's replay. He's at a 1:50.54 so it definitely could be clean, just want to make sure

Just contacted Sony and got the same response as everyone else: Go to the PlayStation forums and post my complaint there.

It sounds like typical corporate bureaucracy BS if you ask me. Aka just keep handing the problem off to someone else until it "disappears".

I really hope Sony takes notice before it's too late. I wonder if there were any problems like this in the other GT Academy competitions?

I'd say its probably a pretty good bet that everyone on the leader board who is ahead of Fix has been mowing the lawn. And he has been bumped al the way down to 19th. 👎

Whoa - don't use that as a basic rule of thumb...double check first. After 6 laps this morning I had splits a tenth or two faster than Fix, but no cutting here. If I put up a 1:50.4 or .3 I don't want my name blindly sent over...

Definitely, check first so noone gets falsely accused.

This is extremely lame and it makes me sad : ( I wish we could get a final word that way we know if we have to cheat or not to move to round 3.

To all you people that cut FU

Not bad for my first thread! Anyways, badboy_etc took over first place in the northeast and he is def cutting both corners!

Most of them are mid 45's+ at Toscana.

Hey! I'm still in the mid 45s at Toscana. Jerk. :sly:

Seriously, though, this is an embarrassment. I really hope something is done, otherwise we will not be seeing a true representation of each regions fastest drivers. I think every driver that has cut that portion of Indy should not only have their times stricken, but should be banned from the contest. If it is known that they will cheat to win, is that someone you want representing your products?

I was also quite saddened to see Doctor_Ill stoop to this. Seems he was fast enough on his own. Too bad.

I never said that everyone ahead of Fix was cheating. I was only pointing out Fix because he was consistently up near the top all of the way through round 1. There are people that are capable of running right there with Fix, yourself included. I think most of us who were watching the standings up top know who those people are. And I don't recall seeing a lot of those names near the top through round 1.

i noticed you could cut the consecutive hairpins when round 2 first opened. i didn't think much of it at the time. now that i see the leader's ghost for midwest, i definitely feel outraged. hoping sony/pd will do something about this.

+1 - right on.

Sparklefresh said anyone under 1:50 is cheating - that is an obvious threshold to use. However, make sure to check those 1:51's if they are top 10 in your region. Getting to 16th is just as bad as getting to 1st since either way you are bumping out someone who is more deserving.

i'm seriously selling my GT5 and prolly convert to some other brand as well other than nissan because driving a 240sx in the snow is just risky.... i'll have to convert to the all wheel drive cars like mitsu or a subie..

but yeah im not selling my ps3 though because i'm an avid gamer as well... if anything it's PD's fault and neglect that caused this.

Come to think of it, these sort of results are coming to be what I expect from PD and Sony... Cutting corners, that is. I mean, just look at the game at release.
