There have been a few requests from people for us to take this further. I understand that you are upset, but there is very little that we can do. GT Planet is a fan site and nothing more. Our involvement with Polyphony Digital and Sony begins and ends there. We have no contact - official or unofficial - with either company, or any of its subsidiaries. I will bring this up with the other moderators, but do not hold your breath. Our hands may be tied.

Thanks Interludes, I know you can't do anything really except bring it to their attention as the Entire Community having a problem with it.
Obviously, pure volume of complaints is what will get them to fix it, but having a conglomerate of users/racers in an organized body can't hurt.

They will most likely have to wipe the boards. We all know the most obvious cheaters on the leaderboards, with the most ridiculous times. The problem comes in for the bad cheaters and or semi-smart cheaters who hide in the top, with legitimate looking times. I think if they don't fix it by tonight or tomorrow then they will just keep the times because this round is only one week long.

I'm not going to stoop to their level. I wasn't expecting to make round 3 anyways with all the robots out there.

Robots? Are you referring to players who hot lap for hours with seemingly no breaks, or actual bots?

I really hope that out of respect they don't wait. Because the competition will be considered a joke once the videos get spread. I don't think Nissan would appreciate looking like fools because PD decided to make the event duration so short.

He's referring to guys who drive with "robotic" precision. Not cheaters, just really clean racers :)

Before you jump on my comments remember that I am from Canada and can't participate. I wouldn't be too hasty to ask that everybody cutting be banned from the competition. As it stands right now it's either cheat and move on or don't and be eliminated. I don't think it's fair to harshly judge contestants given that choice. It's really hard to keep your ethics when so many around you are being rewarded for being unethical. The real blame has to lie with PD/Sony.

I think the only solution is to put in penalties for going off course and disallow all times set before the penalties. Then reset the start of the competition from the date of the "fix". I think banning players given the scenario isn't right.

We can't actualy bring it to their attention. We don't have Sony or Polyphony on speed-dial. About the only thing you could do is contact either organisation independently of the forums. Although rather than simply post a link to this thread, you'd be better off sending them the video of the lap.

Fair enough, however, to get through to round 3 right now, toscana is the deciding factor. Thing is all these guys are relatively slow on toscana. So they are not the best. Plus they aren't running 1:50.4's because their splits are on a whole, garbage.

I never thought you had them on speed dial, I'm just saying that getting an email or a call from a mod (or jordan) saying that the entire community has a problem with it is more beneficial than 1 by 1. Of course thats not to say that we shouldnt complain individually.

Wow this thread has shot up FAST. The leader boards top 21 are 1.49 and below now. Seems like cutting is gaining

So what do we do? Sit and wait? Or try to learn how to cut it the fastest so we can be in the top 16 of cutters? :)

Everybody who hasnt, call the number, and especially raise hell on the GT Academy facebook page.

I didnt want a rally track for round 2 or 3, but if nothing is done, it will have to come to that. I went to sleep 16th in my region last night, and would not care if the boards were wiped.

You could put an article talking about it on the front page in the news section and hopefully it will get around.

I think it's complete bs but I honestly I just want an answer if they are going to allow it or not. I would feel like crap doing it unless I had official go ahead.

My prediction (hopefully wrong) is that PD will do nothing, and it turns into a horse race during the superbowl.

Unless Sony does something, I will be withdrawing from Round 2. I don't wanna corner cut to prove that I can qualify for the next round. I know I am a decent driver, not as fast as the other top drivers like Sigma, Spy, etc. But a 2 to 3 second difference without cutting seems pointless. You can't do that on the track, if Sony decides to let people exploit then that is just pointless to even have GT Academy at all. At least WRS is almost ready to start and I can focus my energy into getting to Gold. Oh well, my rant is over.

It's been suggested. You'd probably have to speak to Jordan.

We honestly don't have that much sway. I could call Sony and/or PD right now and say "Hi, this is interludes; I'm a moderator on the GT Planet forums and we've got reports of someone cheating in the US GT Academy" and they'd have no idea what I was talking about. Again, you'd have to speak to Jordan, but our powers are limited to the forums. Once we leave GT Planet, we have as much influence over things as anyone else.

r1600turbo - don't stop running laps at Indy...

Fast laps aren't something that you only have a fixed quantity of, and if you use them they will be gone. If you go out and run a 1:50 tonight, and they erase your time, there's no reason why you can't run it again. You do have until Sunday night to make up for any lost time.

For example - in round 1 in took me weeks to get down to my times, but if you erased everything, I could still get back to a top 5 ranking in about an hour total.

...at least you won't have to re-learn the chicane like those cheating hacks who knows they aren't any good to make it to round 3 anyway.

What these people are doing is inexcusable. It is blatant course cutting and making a mockery of the competition while the good drivers (the ones who actually DESERVE to go through) are put in jeopardy of going to round 3.

If it were up to me, these people would be eliminated from the competition without a chance of recovery. It is blatant, intentional cheating. It's a shame.

Nevermind! Thanks Jordan!

Just checked the Southeast rankings and all but 1 of the top 10 are cutting. Le sigh :(

At least the only non-cutter has a GTP tag.

I'm 24th in southeast with no cut and lots of time left, that actually makes me feel good..

Well done mate. Seriously good job. Everyone who's competitive with clean laps deserves a huge pat on the back. I'll be doing my best to get back into it this evening BIGTIME.

I have posted the sources to several news sites and hoping by tomorrow it gets out. I would suggest that we be patient and not break down like crazies and cut the track. I am not saying that is what people are going to do but you have to give the moderators of the competition time to investigate the matter.
