Duman changed the setup then. There's no way Sai would be putting -3,5 rear.

No, duman didnt change it cause i asked him and he said it wasnt touched because its no use to him.

I dont know what the hype is all about with these Spirit R's? if i can keep up too my team mates FD in a Miata, im sure you can keep up in anything else.. and trust me.. hes no push over..

Well To be honest with you ... you should do a competetion with all participants using just one car or allow all other cars ... not saying allow a RM or a Race car , just Allow all street cars ;)
The same discussion was done in all the other competitions and ended in allowing the banned cars ...

About Sai's setup, Yeah he uses -3.5 on the rear
I've drifted with him many times ... Its not obvious because both front and rear have high camber so you cannot compare and see the difference , plus he uses soft iwith that high camber which when left foot-braking while redlining behind the lead car will make him stick to its tail like a bug ;) You can check some pictures @ my team photo gallery of his car when tandeming ... Camber is Clearly visible ;) Or you can check out my video thread where there is a video of me and SAi and also there the camber is clearly visible ;)

Now thats off topic ...
D-Max just allow all street cars and if someone complains about a car being faster than his ... well you can always say to him "NO ONE FORCED YOU NOT TO USE THAT CAR" ... And if he replies with "I DIDNT KNOW THAT IT WAS THAT FAST" you can always reply with "Well it Seems that you didnt do enough homework for the tourney" ;)

That seems a fair argument.. but, if i get a mass number of people using RX7's there will be a change in rules!

Rules have been changed but it is still subject to change!

these kind of competitions need to be more about skill rather then who can get to the line faster. If you wanna be fast go to an online racing thread. If you want to have close tandem action, you are going to either learn to drive you favorite car fast. Like me...if i cant keep up with a corvette on the game while tandeming....that shows me i need to tune my car better and get better at drifting on the game.

This/\
I tuned my ISF like a beast and made it 50/50 weight distribtution...
Now, when I drive like a nutter, I can keep up with vettes and rx7's

See its all about tune, tune and tune some more. Eventually you will get it and not try to be like everyone else and haev a vet or viper. Personally i do not like thoughs cars and i would never own one. I LOVE my Z32, I may not be able to keep up with some but I try my hardest i can, and hope they make a mistake. That my friends is real world racing!

In my opinion - drifting is supposed to be fast! Obviously it will not be as fast as grip, but drifting is not supposed to be pedestrian either. I do a lot of my personal drifting in Japan lobbies and they all drift fast as well (Team Mixi is very fast) as a comparison to drift styles. If I'm going to fast, I'll slide off the track and if I'm going to slow I'll drop to the inside of the corner - there is balance that is needed during drifting. Drifting is all about adaptability.

Tuning is helpful in that you are tuning the car to YOUR preferred style. You could have the best tuned car possible but if you can't drift that car and adapt to how it drifts - it doesn't matter...

In my opinion, the best drift skill to have is adaptability. If you have that - then you will be a very good drifter!

Would it not solve all the speed issues by making a customised scoring system in which speed and distance scores are half what other areas are, for example line and angle. That way actual drifting, not racing, remains the key aspect of the competition, participants and judging criteria.

I agree, a good set of pre-mentioned criteria would be great.

Technique (Style, Angle, Transition efficiency) = 4

Accuracy (Line, Proximity to leading car) = 4

Speed (slow, fast... or equal [Both receive 2] )= 2

Maybe?

Gambino you just made me want to give you an award for that speech lol. Adadptability, is that going from a silvia to a Zonda R and drifting epicly ;) lol just kidding.. well said my man.

LOL!!! Thanks Jimmy...

I don't have a Zonda in my garage but that is a good example!!

No, Thats not his real setup

Camber is tho, umm Sai is able well anyone I should say is able to go full throttle with pretty much any BMW with my FD its a whole other story, I'm not going all out every run I get lazy...

Gambino. Yeah they drift fast.. but 90% of them aren't using CH tyres. I've been in some Japanese rooms with CH.. they would all overtake me.. but when i took the CS tyres ON, i was always on their bumpers.
=) "just my opinion" i only like drifting on CH tyres.

I only go into the CH restricted lobbies... I don't bother with anything else because my only goal is to do some tandems... :sly:

Sry bout doublepost =)
Yeah me too. all i want is drift and i rlly dont care what they're doing and what tyres they're using. aslong as i do my drift without getting crashed all the time

My team room last night was trying to tandem on Mediums... Didnt work so well

we tried this but put high powerd cars on Ch and low cars powerd cars like ae86's on CM the drift is a lot closer. as a ae86 can keep up with an rx7 due to more grip.it gives a lower powerd car more of a chance to keep up with fast drift cars

This debate about RX7 Spirit R's and all others cars is giving me a sore ****ing head. I swear to god. Listen up noobs. Drifting is not all about your speed, what tires your using or how much damn power you have! Drifting is about your agility to be able to TUNE a car to YOUR style of driving. For instance, I like to go all out, pedal to the metal and never lift, so I spent at least 3 DAYS tuning my Z4 by TRIAL & ERROR (< key phrase). At first, the Z4 seemed really gash and unstable to me but I preserved with it, and noticed that my usual style of E-Brake - Lock - Full Throtle didn't work for that car, so I "adapted" my style around the car and tuned it so I was able to have somewhat a car that suited my style. Now, I give a little Scandinavian flick and away she goes ripping up CH tires, at just under redline. However, - and I'm sure Warren & Jimmy will back me up here - when I bought a Jag S-Type and dotted in a tune all I did was spin out.

So, again I spent 2-3 days tuning like mad with a little help from Warren (merci), I'm now able to fling the Jag through corners at speeds an RX7 Spirit R, ZR1, E92 M3, IS F etc etc are able to hit or even faster. I'm not the greatest drifter, or the greatest driver ever, but it's being able to understand the car and understand how to adapt your driving style to it is what makes driving on track successful.

Once you've got your tune down to perfection, you'll be able to enter corners backwards at 100MPH smokin' 'em tires like nothing else. For you to be able to tandem, pull angel whilst having the speed/momentum, you need practice a lot. I'm only starting to keep up with others, which means all I have to do is find the perfect line for me, whilst learning the car(s) better.

Now, my rants over I shall get back to moving house. Lulz.

Warren - Twin/Triple S-Type session sounds awesome man. I love the Jaaaaaaaaaaaag, British Engineering at it's best tehe. Plus i'm running Matte Dark Green on it.

Jimmy - I'm in two minds whether I wanna use my Z4 now. The jag appealing to me an awful lot just now.

Bare with me ladies and gentleman. Qualifying track layouts and a cut-off date will be released soon along with a list of drivers and judges :)
