Apparently the tires are already fixed? Only half the grid got pens in my race...
Well that's about normal, it's the fact it's still the same by Sunday that gets me.

LOL did an A, it was sort of fun, 5 of 11 got an SR down I lost 18 points and only bumped a few people since I was so slow I couldn't do it very long. Fun but not worth doing unless you set an account just for this, I wouldn't even risk my alt here.

Whelp, Race A was fun while it lasted. Got in for a few runs and it was a bit messy as it can be really hard to pass clean, but the penalty system was turned down low so the side contacts weren't causing problems.

Then they fixed the Monza tire screw up and apparently put the penalty system back up a few notches for A as well. Any contact where 1 car touches the wall and the other car seems to get a penalty. And the penalty zone location means penalties dont slow you down much so as soon as you drop to lower lobbies people are just wall slamming others and shoving them wide for passes as the penalty risk is there but it only hurts SR and these guys dont seem to care. Going to have to go to Monza to actually clean it up.
That is saying something.

Such a shame as the battles we had the first couple of races were awesome as there were some contacts and wall bounces, but as there was no penalty we were able to focus on just keeping racing. It was fun.

Anyone know if the WRX will be any good around Fuji? I used the kudosprime random car selector in Gr.4 and got the WRX. Thinking it'll be great through the second half of the race but fairly slow for the straight and nothing special overall... ?

Oh, and I got the RS.01 for Monza. :scared: I think I might try that out for kicks but then jump into the RX V instead.

Look the penalty system actually worked. Nice dirty driving beforehand too, I was lucky to avoid them.

There's definitely a "no grip" hack too, there must be because I found it on my US account, couldn't go anywhere near my usual times yesterday (tyre wear was even worse too) and then I was punted, will add that video later.

It's not a good idea to brake later than normal in a massive slipstream but they did it anyway. At least the penalty system works here again. 👍

I'm going to leave this image here

I guess the early risers didn't get the message.

Think my weapon of choice for race C this week will be the Corvette. I can do a reasonable lap time in it to remain competitive and the tires are manageable so I can keep it on the track (assuming no outside interference.)

After racing pretty much every day last week in the SF19 the Corvette feels like I am driving a tank in comparison. Going to take a few races for me to get in the groove I think.

Done 1 of each and wow lost 33 SR. 18 in A because they stupidly have pens in a fun race, 10 in C because I didn't brake at chicane (other things not my fault, but I deserved that) and 5 on B because some idiot turns in on me when I'm overtaking, I get 4 secs for that too and in that race 1 sec is game over.
So A and B are out, will see if I can tame C, but if not it's a burner and fun on A.

So what you are all saying is the dirt race has contact penalties.:lol::lol::lol::lol: I wasn't going to try it anyway but that should make most people avoid it, everyone will get reset, they should only be wall penalties (if not pushed into them) to stop people just bouncing off them.

I'll be racing at Monza mind, it probably won't be any better.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Waiting for a track guide for race A.
Use the Subaru, set diff to 50/50, anything else to 0, follow the road, don't cut too much. Run in as high a gear as you can for speed, downshift to corner faster..
Brake before the turn leading to the road along the timber, there's a bump just in the corner that will send you left so keep right. Also release throttle right before every jump to flyas short as possible so you can gas on at landing

I couldn’t have had a better start to the week. 2 races at Monza in the Vantage.

Race 1: Door 16, pole. 1st from start to finish won by over 11 seconds. CRB. Not used to that kind of thing

Race 2: Door 16, Q3. 1st and 2nd build a gap over the first few laps, 4th catches up on lap 5. We work together  for 3 laps until I pit and he stays out. He pits lap 8 and I get track position as he exits. Last 2 laps I build a 3 sec gap on him but can’t bridge the 2 seconds to P2. Finish 3rd, CRB.

What is happening? I’m competitive AND getting CRBs at Monza.

Is this real life?

Don't forget to brake at the 100m mark. :dopey:

Quick question for race C at the start. Is anyone else having issue in the first chicane at the start with FPS. It seems to drop into single digits for me and once past everything is fine for the rest of the race. Never had this happen any other time racing on this track

Sure does make the start even more of a lottery than normal though and sorry in advance if I clip anyone while I slideshow /sigh

Are you playing on PS4 Pro in 4k or using super sampling? If you are, switch PS4 into 1080, turn off super sampling, and select prioritise frame rate in GT.

Race A seems good fun - took 2 seconds off my Q-time just by following everyone else, but I was still 3 seconds off the low B/S guys in the room.

It's very strange going from several laps of Race A to Race B - it feels like there's too much grip! Which is very odd, as I use motion control.

*Slaps forehead*

I had a stupid I guess and didn't even think of that. Thank you I will give that a try in this evening's session.
I think the game runs better in 1080p, the replays are also 60fps, in 4k/SS the replays are only 30fps. There’s a bit of reduction in shadow draw distance but overall it just runs more smoothly.

I'm a bit late with this one, but I had a great time last week in Race B. It took a bit of trying, but I set a 1:32.0 in the Corvette, and it was good enough to start me in the Top 5 for most of the weekend. Ended with 4 wins, 3 of them from pole. I could've had 6 wins if not for a stupid collision penalty that I got for trying to avoid an accident in front of me, and being nearly spun after glitching through a curb in the esses in another race. I used the Corvette the entire time, and could mostly keep up with everyone in front of me in Supras and GT-Rs, just waiting for them to make mistakes out of the slower corners and the chicane. Unfortunately that also got me quite a few penalties from running into people who made mistakes in those spots, even when I took avoiding action and made only slight contact that benefitted the car I hit. I think I could've avoided penalties had I just slammed into them without trying to avoid. In spite of that, I still got 8 and 9 race clean streaks. When I finally switched to the Supra to improve my qualifying time last night, just to see how quick I could be, I only gained a little over 0.1s over what I managed in the Corvette, putting me at 1:31.89.

For Race C, I managed to put down a 1:36.2, and could do similar pace consistently in qualifying, but I had barely enough pace to stay in the Top 5 in the race, and could barely get under 1:40 on a good lap while everyone around me could easily do at least mid 1:39s, even without boost. I only did 2 races on my main account there, and I went backwards from where I started in both. So even when I'm quick in the SF, I can't ACTUALLY be quick in it in race conditions...

I thought I did a decent lap then looked at the times, 5 seconds off
I was all giddy for race A but yesterday I smashed my thumb full force with a rubber mallet helping my wife with an art project... 8 seconds off from the top times.
