Please invite me to your race C p!ease. It's just seems to have got back to block or punt after a couple of good days of racing and I am getting increasingly tired of it. Think I might be done for the week and I hope we have better racing next week (though I know that probably a false hope).
You won't like this then.

Did two Race C in the early morning. STarted 9th finished 8th. Second race, Started 8th, finished 4th. IN THE WRX!!!!

Okay, just to backl trtack. The first race was ordinary. T1 fiasco as I had an F-Type behind me. We're braking for the entry. I stay hard left. CAr ahead of me is turning. The F-Type dives my inside. In the replay, an AMG from 11th brakes way late and hits the F-Type into me. I slowly naviagte the exit and bump the F-Type. As we motor to the next xchicane, in the replay, the F-Type targets ME! Bumps me and I hit the car ahead as we sail thru and get reset on track. F-Type gets 4 seconds. I pit lap one for RM to run the rest of the race.
The blocking from an RX-V, Jag, C7s and an AMG... ridiculous.
Towards the end of the race. I moved up to 6th with cars pitting. The F-Type pits and starts to catch me up. Passes and I could have served it back. Just ran my race and finished 8th. Could have finished 10 seconds ahead, with the leading 5 cars.

That second race. Started on RH(8th). Just decided to pit when a fast player(started 6th) I usually race, decides to pit. Stayed in the tow of the C7 ahead. It kept blocking. Ran me wide at the parabolica. Just rude. If the WRX is slower, what's the threat? The threat, is its braking and cornering speed. 👍
The fast player pits Lap 4. I pit. We were both on the same tyre strategy and made up heaps of time. By the time the blocking C7 exited the pits on Lap 7, I was 5 seconds ahead. By the finish, I was 3.7 seconds ahead.

Just finished a RAce B. There's that blocking again. This time, two F-Types are being idiots. I'm drafting an F-Type and it does the swerving thing. A Scirocco behind just catches up and side by side into the braking zone, the F-type goes wide taking the Scirocco with it. End Lap3, they both ahead of me up the straight and fight for the whole last lap, allowing another F-Type to catch up and pass me by the Dunlop sign. It's just the dumbest crap.

If you've just copped a 4 second penalty, and have no chance, with 30 seconds left in the race, why not move out of the way and be respectful to the people who still have a shot at winning? :irked:

pick me - pick me - I know . . .

Because they are a butthead and don't care about anyone else on the track with them. They also don't remember ever receiving any DR for respectfulness, so why give it.

Am I close?

I guess I have been lucky at Monza so far but considering I tend to stop at the weekend because of all the "Sunday Drivers" who show up at the weekend I might just run a few of the lobbies I have created which tend to be longer races. Unfortunately I have seen the mayhem on the track and apart from just 1 race I avoided most of it, some people just don't give a s**t once they get a penalty and just think they should share the pain with everyone else in the race. my biggest drop was 18 SR and the last race restored it but only because the 2 idiots I let pass on the first lap when they started to push me off and took each other off on the 2nd lap in a sea of flashing penalties so there was some justice. I was running 5-6 sec ahead for the rest of the race for a 2nd place finish up from 5th on the grid, but the winner was 22sec clear at the end and way quicker that anyone else.

Just for fun I ran a few cars, my Qual time was in the DBR9 but I find that I'm inconsistent in the race with it so I just ran the WXR, C4 and RCZ. I love driving the Gr3 C4 having raced it for 4 or 5 seasons and you just get a feel for a car when you use it so much. the RCZ likewise has better speed on the straights and that the car I got the best results in. Only did 1 Race B today and finished 3rd from 5th, not a fan of Gr4 at Fiji.

I was hoping that I could move forward this week and maybe get back into DR B which I only ever was in soon after the came out on my old account but I have gained a bit and not too sure about next weeks offerings but we never know until we start racing.

Is that not what it's all about sharing the pain, same idiots go for a mad overtake just before you are about to serve a penalty where they will fly past you.

Race A car choice - do you know something we don't??
I only wish. I just scrolled through the N200 car list and looked at likely car choices. The N200 has a bunch of really good options so I would be happy with quite a few from there.

Also had adventures with lag. Caught a 1 bar wonder on Monza and they promptly and super smooth PIT maneuvered me on the front straight. Did it so well I didnt even have a split second to respond. Threw a comment at them after the race and they wanted to know what was wrong. On their super lagged replay they waited until I was ahead and pulled in behind, where I promptly put my rears on the grass and spun. Lag is evil, but a part of the game.

If we thought Monza was bad, I think Gr2 at RBR might give another level for lap 1.

For breaking the draft, I will do one move off my line, then usually come back to optimal.

That feels valid and consistent with normal blocking rules and racing etiquette. Sometimes the move back to the racing line does not work if there is already someone there.

My biggest pet peeve is swerving to block after a penalty or error. I really wish PD would keep cars ghosted ...

Agreed on that post-pen-and-bump pet peeve. It's one of those things that you just never think of... until someone does it to you... twice

You actually don't use 6th gear at all in the Ford GT

5th gear is good from about 130mph to 163mph if needed.[/QUOT
I have been doing race B this week - Group 4 at Suzuka.
  • Got to see @rhcpeppers.
  • The death announcement of the FF is premature. There is definitely a mix of cars and the Jag F-Type and the McLaren 650s are prominent but there are others. VW Sirocco (FF), a car I have only tried once before (and discounted), has faired better than the other FFs after the nerfing.
  • What is with swerve blocking? It feels/is very wrong. It is not literal blocking but involves swerving to inhibit the draft for the racer behind. It requires multiple moves on the straight. Do not like it. Don't know how to combat it.
  • A racer introduced me to bump drafting on the straight as a teamwork thing to create more distance to the trailing pack. It was new for me but he intimated that part of the "thing" is that the bumped car might miscalculate his brake point. Good to know self-interest is the motivator otherwise "charity" and racing tend to not mix. :sly:

It's been good seeing you out on the track

If you switch to Fuji I guarantee the turns will be easier. ;):P (sorry)
I get lost on my way to the bedroom...

:dunce:
Correction made. Thanks.

It's been good seeing you out on the track

Hi! I did not make the connection to GTP until later in the day. I couldn't see "texas" in your in your GTP id that clearly does have "texas" in it. It stands out in your PSN id.

Man, you are fast, and no mistakes.

Honestly I've been scared of Monza ever since I got my one and only reset... it's a shame too cause I feel fast there. Qualifying the Corvette in the 46.2 never driven the car.

I'll be staying at race B where the racing feels great and plenty of places to get real racey if needed. I've been sticking to the 650s yet another car I've never driven.

Hi! I did not make the connection to GTP until later in the day. I couldn't see "texas" in you in you gtp id but I can see in in your slightly different PSN.

Man, you are fast, and no mistakes.

Thanks, you're plenty fast yourself! It's always great to run across GTP members.

People keep fighting going into T1 and whoever's ahead just pulls away everytime I've noticed. When 2nd and 3rd work together it's hard for pole sitter to run away with it.

Better racers than me may have a better answer, but my mindset is that I'm not going to chase someone around for a slipstream. If I didn't need it to catch them, then I can pass them without it too. I also think its a trap to get you out of position to make a mistake and let them get more separation. I try to respond to it only to trigger their little dance and get that person off the line that I want to use for the next turn to set up my pass. At Monza, there is a long game to this as I may not close enough to make the pass on Curva Grande, but if I do it right, I can get on their bumper out of the Lesmos to pass them before Ascari. The danger is it can compromise you from behind if someone is slipping off of you and you don't have one. I just try to live to fight another day in that situation as three or more cars swerving for a slip is almost sure to be a disaster, so I'll give up a spot...for now.

Good advice! Something else to add to the toolbox. The act of them swerving should make them slower than a straight line.

I don't like giving up so I did the usually fatal one more race before bed and for once it wasn't a bad race in fact I would say it was the best race I had all night. Position wise I didn't do anything and probably lost DR but the actual racing was awesome.

Don't want to post the entire race so I picked out this highlight when the track suddenly got very very narrow. Shout-out to CromulentDanny for the clean racing throughout and also to Xanditsch for keeping your line out of the pits.

I don't really get emotional or anything at the daily races, but this one pissed me off.
I qualified 2nd, and this dude qualified 1st. His Q time was a full second faster than mine, but I got the best of him on the first lap.
Here, at the end, the penalty system does it's usual crazy 🤬. I know I out-drove him on that final turn. I was a little bit upset. :grumpy:

All good man, it happens. Sorry for parking it on every corner over the next two laps after that.
I mean the penalty system is just beyond frustrating at this point. Earlier today I had minor door-to-door contact coming out of the second chicane which was completely inconsequential and I got a two-second penalty. That along with the general chaos of the first lap rewarded me with a DR reset. It's the third one I've had in the last few months, and I rarely had trouble maintaining my SR before that. I'm usually very good at staying calm throughout a race, but lately it feels impossible to have anything resembling a normal race without having your ratings being sent straight to hell for minor incidents.

Speaking of rating resets, that's not just me right? I haven't been active here lately and I've not been doing as much daily racing with the current state of penalties, but this feels like the worst it's ever been in the 2+ years I've been playing. I was so close to A+ back in the fall and it all evaporated after a couple chaotic Brands Hatch races...

Race B Pole/Win/FL/CRB in the WRX. Kudos to the P2 TT for being patient at T1. Same for the P3 RCZ(was too far back to try for passing).
Anyway, after T1, the FFs didn't have the acceleration. Major problem was the TT hit the brakes too early on Lap 2 T1. The RCZ had to take the position as the replay showed the TT wasn't turning in. That meant the they'd be slow for the rest of the lap. I pulled away from there.

 Monza. Started P2 in the WRX. P3 AMG just HAS to get ahead of me. it does so and then is creeping at every corner. I'm able to stay with it in the slipstream. Still goinf slow in Lap 1, I pit for RM. RAn to LAp 8 and pit for Rm again. By the end of the race, I move from 6th to 5th and my FL was .5 faster than that same AMG. Learn to drive.

Seeing several "Players" who seem to just want to spoil peoples games. Got shoved off on pit straight 1st lap, he obviously gets a pen (4secs) and basically ruining both of our games. I'll never understand these idiots. The rage at Monza is bad though, people are getting fed up with the pens, but not trying to drive in a way to reduce them. I try as much as possible to avoid hitting those in front, but can't do much about constantly being hit from behind with the far too often pen as a result.

So.... from Pole, I beat two Sciroccos with the Huracan. I lost the lead on Lap 3 T1 braking too late(just a bit wide). Got the lead back on Lap 4 T1, lost it into T2, Got it back T3 and to the finish).

edit: Tried the GT3 Huracan. Did pretty good. Still, had a loose tail with -2 BB.
Next, found the Peugeot VGT to be crazy fast. Had a Vantage in my draft and pulled it to T1. Side by side with an AMG, Supra and Atenza. I pulled away. In the draft, it catches and passes so quick. Fast versus a GT-R too. Didn't get to go up against a Mustang or C7. Been starting toward the back and finishing top 10.

Used the Viper, WRX and GT, all could be better really, shame. List updated and it doesn't look like I'm going to find another good car here at Monza. :(
