are they clean or were they clean for that race for whatever reason?
No way to tell. But generally if I see a driver that brakes when trouble stirs ahead or back out of a double wide through a chicane that's a guy I will trust until otherwise proven wrong
And if he does these things and the get down and dirty with another racer I'll assume they got history as long as it's not something they spread around.

Another top 5. Started 5th. Fnished 5th with a .5 penalty.
P1 - Supra
P2&P3 Beetles
P4 GT-R again(it is fast on corner exits after Seaside hairpin and through TFB). The early braking is killing me.
P6-P9 were RSRs. They couldn't keep up.
could race B be a SR recovery race?
👍
4 clean races in a row. No divebombing. It'll slow you and the cars around you. Players know they have to keep the momentum and not lose touch with the leaders. Big difference to Fuji.

Ok another video (from last week) so we can discuss an issue which comes up from time to time at some tracks. :)

Now the game shouldn't really let people run down below white lines (without penalty) but it does, so should I have let them in like I did or should I have carried straight on and made them go on the grass? Is being nice like I was just encouraging moves like this that people shouldn't be doing? :indiff:

Since it's not just Monza where this sort of thing can become an issue I'd like to know, stuff like this should really be covered in the videos you have to watch before you race online.

Also more light-hearted stuff.

The overtake of the week, done to perfection I must say and the penalty system worked. 👍

Woo! Yeetle for the Bradbury win!

I was on for P3, then P1 and P2 both binned it on lap 3

To Polyphony: can you please stop the specially provided car races?!

We have a garage, let us use it!
I wish they would make it garage cars for this, as requested by @NAXEHT. Then our non-race garage cars might have a purpose other than lobbies or career mode.
Can't wait until the next McLaren P1 GTR/Ferrari 250GT garage car race.

You were being generous. Personally, I would have held my line and forced them off or to slow down. You were following the line and they thought they would force you to give them space. I would have let them eat grass.

I just don’t understand why people don’t back out when they see they are running out of space...

My take on the first video is that the other driver should know the tarmac runs out and it’s up to him to pull out before that. You are not in the wrong to hold your line.

However, the practicality of it is that if he does just hit grass he’s liable to end up in your right panel as the result of a loss of control. This is one of those times where your courtesy probably benefits you both, even though he’s being an idiot.

Hot Hatches for Race A

GTI
Clio
208
DS3

Edit: Used the 208. 4th to 2nd. GTI has good acceleration. Might be the DSG(if that's what the default transmission is). Anyway, the 208 is good everywhere. DS3 seems to be the favorite. Couldn't catch me on the straights, even in the tow. A couple of Clios, but they weren't really in the race. It was just a three-way battle with the VW/Citroen/Pug.
Done a couple of these. Good fun. The DS3 is definitely the popular pick but I can’t drive it well enough. So much understeer and wheel spin. The 208 is a great little machine and I’ve had a win in it over a VW and a field full of Citroens.

I ran one at SR 99. The whole room was 75% Porsche and Beetle.
I got hit repeatedly, people parked on apexes etc. Came out SR 61

Had another clean race A, well some guy tried to drive me into the pit but then he divebombed at the first corner so didn't see him again. 4 more SR. 2 races and 2 SR gains, don't remember that happening much last week.

I had this exact situation and held my line. Was called a dirty driver after which was funny as I had no penalties (me & leader only no pens). I didn't force the driver off nor was I weaving or otherwise trying to put them into the grass. They made a bad choice and suffered a self inflicted wound but of course they are perfect drivers so it must be my fault. Sigh

Good morning friends,

Well this morning I sat down early for coffee and qual on this weeks race B.
I used the Perrier Mustang which turned in a 30.6, the BMW Mcclaren F1 Lemans car which turned 30.5 (tcs OFF on this car. ABS WEAK), next up the Peugeot RCZ - 30.4 tcs 3 bb0, my vette which ran a strong 29.9 tcs3 bb0, then the BMW M6 tcs3 bb0 for a slow 30.9 (tcs 3 in this one is very hard to use in the first chicane-its more blippy than some cars systems which is very good for some tracks but not here imo), we had the Mercedes Benz ‘11 GT3 with a 30.7 tcs3 bb0, then we had the wrx at 30.6 tcs3 bb0(car is nice here), my Supra turned in 30.2 on tcs3 bb0, and that was all the cars I ran over the course of the last hour. Good luck if you dare entering up here. It’ll probably be a good one to use a throwaway identity...
I hope you all enjoy your day.

BMW .... like the vette but worse for me. Nice lap, feels good, solid, good turn in, nice exits ..... go across the line .... 1 second down on the AMG ... like what.

I love the m6, but it’s just not great, here. It’s very difficult to transition through the chicane and get the hairpin hooked up without sliding. It’s almost too torquey down low and the tcs on it oversteers it nice with the blipping but there’s so much torque it upsets itself and prevents getting the good exit.
The Mustang felt surprisingly good here. I’d never use mr except for qual here what with that chicane, and the curbs here. Jmo balanced track but I like dominating the curbs not being super paranoid of them in something like a Mcclaren.
Those handling cars are like roller skating way too much here...

Edit the car I like most here far as drivability was definitely the GT3 GTS version of this guy...

On another note, I had three runs at Fuji last night - my first of the week. I opted for the Subie, which I found faster than any of my friends in the 650S, by some margin!

First race I was Q11 and managed to get two clean laps before I ran into the back of an M4 through the twisty stuff towards the end where I had so much more pace than anyone else around me. Trying to keep things clean through that section was so tough, and eventually I picked up a 2s penalty and which dropped me back to P9 after running 7th. I kept the rest of the race nice and clean and finished in P9 without any further incidents. I was hoping to take 7th watching a Scirocco and the M4 fighting through the twisties on the final lap, but neither picked up a penalty (miraculously) or quite took each other off enough for me to take the position.

Second race was pretty clean and simple. Q8, stayed out of trouble and ended up P8 after a McLaren tried to run me wide on the final corner and I only just hung on to 8th.

Final race I had to take some avoiding action on the last two laps when a Bugatti and an RCZ were clearly having a bit of an argument, swiping at each other, brake checking and generally making each other's lives difficult. I managed to squeeze past when the Bug brake checked the Pug coming into Coca Cola and snuck through to take 4th, holding on to the place and keeping the RCZ behind me until the end with a 0.006 gap between us on the line.

4th was my best finish here and I think I actually had my cleanest races of the week here. There was definitely lots of argey bargey going on though, I just managed to keep clear of it.

Hoping I can get a few more races in this week. RBR and Dragon Trails are both great circuits!

Fuji was an unexpected joy and the racing was intense.

PD did a good job with the recent BoP if Fuji is an indication. The fastest cars in the top 10 were Atenzas (4WD) followed by the McLaren 650s (MR). In the races, the Jaguar F-Type (FR) was always dangerous. The VW Sirocco (FF) was very competitive along with the RCZ (FF). Each of the drivetrains had a winnable variant.

Kudos to those racers who were able to lug the Atenza around and set top times. They ran OK in race trim but were beatable.

Personally, I am poor at running in packs - racecraft just not *there* compared to other parts of my game. This week, there was great pack-running up against clean and fast runners (there are always a few dirty ones). More times than not, I wound up at the backend of the pack but there were times I was able to emerge at the front with no pens and no contact. There is hope.

I saw some fellow GTPers and got to meet some new ones. It was a good week.

Ran a couple of race c last night to test things out. With tire wear up to x10 I pulled out the trusty old Lexus. Easily got 8 to 9 lap south of mediums by working on being smooth instead of lights out. Was able to leap several GTRs that were pitting by lap 6. Scary getting into packs with these cars as people dont seem to brake much and like their chances at a good dive, but wasnt super dirty, just a little messy.

Race A was still pretty clean, but definitely a bit of bumping and banging there. Despite that I still made SR in both races. Ran the 208, but it was always 3 different cars up front so it looks like it could be wide open to run what you like.

Raced 1 C race this morning, my first Gr 2 race ever. Started 17, finished 8 with the Lexus...I'll take it, especially with only 2 qual laps. While in pit I heard a "buzzing" sound I've never heard before. I don't know if I needed to refuel and the game did it for me, or I refueled by accident? I don't imagine refueling is necessary?

Also some advice, practice approaching the pits and don't do it for the first during the race hahaha.

Really looking towards race A and B as well....great week ahead.

Got the Lexus all ready to go, but still hate RBR so not sure I'll even bother. Tried B and as usual I suck, but that's what practice is for. I recon I'm about 3 secs slower than I need to be to play and checking my K speed it agrees. Lost SR in a fairly clean race because the guy in front braked till he was nearly stopped for some reason.
Going to try A and it's got to be VW, since I'm not using a French car if I don't have to.

I'd mention the clean drivers, but there are many (too many dirty ones though). The thing is are they clean or were they clean for that race for whatever reason? Met a brit who seems clean and it was 2 races so does that make Some_Numpty a clean driver? I think he probably is but then I had a game with a Turk (sorry name escapes me) and he was clean and respectful, but I saw him later doing some dirty moves on another player. Was it revenge or was I just lucky? Now I always try and thank people at the end if they're clean, but I also try my best not to take grudges from one game to the next because I honestly think most people try to be clean, the biggest problem being many don't actually know how to do that.
To be clear I'm not suggesting I'm great and don't do stupid or even dirty things, just that I try to be clean as much as possible.
I try not to pay too much attention when people call me out for being dirty. Happened in a Monza race last night while I was in the GT-R. An R4M guy was running from the back, and after my pit he was behind me (about 3 seconds). I was doing a good job of keeping the gap above 3, when I came out of Ascari and caught too much curb, and spun. Got straight, and beat him to the Parabolica, covering the inside. Also covered going into the first chicane, and he bumped me on the brakes at the 100 marker. I almost went through the chicane. He became very aggressive on the way to the second chicane, and bumped me twice through the right hander, so I blocked the inside, and braked at the 150 marker and he kissed my bumper. I held him off for the position if I remember right, but he called me dirty after the race. Too bad! You can't pass me clean, and you try to put me off track, I'll play the same way. It's funny how some guys you can pass, get passed, re-pass, and go this way though the race and have a ball, but some get passed, and then it's like it was a personal affront and anything goes. I get the frustration. I got stuck behind a Vette last night that was slowing me by 1.5-2 seconds a lap, and I had to follow him for 2 1/2 laps (blocker) I finally got him in the parabolica. He covered the inside, I went wide outside and got a good line, he got wide and I went underneath. He actually came back in just after the apex and hit my driver's door as I held it tight. Luckily the game ghosted him and he flew through me at the apex of the chicane. Never hit his brakes at all by the speed he went by.

Well I did a little practice of RBR and my times were looking OK, not great but it's a bad track for me, so I decided to run a race if my time was better than my K speed target. So since I'm a massive 0.051 faster I'm heading in. Wish me luck. I better not lose loads of SR as this is really me for a change. No idea about strategy, so meds till they fall off and a short (hopefully) dash on hards. I take it a 2 stopper is out, long pit but can't remember the lose.

Ok so race B not at all familiar with the track (I had to put on the race line marker) but it's fun. Lots of fast bits followed by some pretty technical corners and off camber corners that certainty reward patience, slow in fast out. Saw a lot of self inflicted crashes with folks running in too hot and not being able to make the turns.

Race C bit more familiar with the track but the tyre strategy makes this one interesting too. Trying 1H/6M/6M for now and while I lose time in the pits I feel I run better maximising time on mediums. I tried a 1 stop but tyre wear when using a controller is no joke but I expect you fancy wheel folks will have more luck with that one.

Running the Lexus in both races just because I want more wheel time in the GR 3 Lexus for the FIA manufacturers and may as well keep repping Lexus in GR2 as well. Not going to set any fast laps but they stick to the track as long as you are not being silly.

I know I can find more time in both race B & C so my goal will be to get within a couple of seconds of the aliens and hopefully have some good racing too. So far I have had much cleaner races than last week's Monza madness so that is a bonus and I hope that continues.

There is a little round dot on your fuel meter (while pitting) and you can use that as a guideline for refueling. My guess is no re-fueling required based on x2 for fuel consumption. That is not always the case. Sometimes they setup the race to force a stop for fuel but not this week.

And "yep", on practicing the pit entry. A second saved there counts the same as a second on the track.
