I'm a noob with the whole fuel saving thing, any recommendations for what to set the power meter Doodah at , lean .. Power or halfway ... or does it completely depend on what car you're driving?

Great give us 2 laps of N24, but make it so a pit stop is needed. What a stupid idea, dropping the fuel to X6 or X5 would still need to fuel save, but in a way that didn't negate the strategy. Or is there a car that can actually run the race without fuel?
I have run a no-stop in the Jag, the Scirocco and the WRX so far. Fuel map 3 from the start, hanging on as best I can for lap one, then by the end of lap 2 I can go to FM 1 or 2 for a while.

I don't get why you keep posting these videos up. The first one contains yet another blatant punt, though not as awful as the one you did earlier in the week.

Are you proud of taking wins by just biffing people out of the way and think you're going to get praise from other people?
We could all win 130 races if we drove like that!!
Some people only care about winning, at any cost. I could have easily got at least one win of the four races i shared earlier, if i had no self respect and didn't care about the people i share the track with.

And although i dont like to share numbers..... 42k dr 99sr, 320+ wins in 2100 or so races. All done with dignity and respect for my competition

I know we are not supposed to repost... but... this one calls for it.

Joe is not reading any of these responses so we are kind of yelling into a vacuum.

--------------- repost---------------------------

Hi all,

I have seen several notes go by on Joe and his latest video and from his previous postings. This is what I observe:
  • Joe sends a us a note from time to time when he gets a new victory.
  • The notes here and in other threads are very similar.
  • Once, he sent a note on his SR.
  • He never responds. He never says a bad word.
  • He has played GT for a cumulative 179 days (kudos), more than anyone else that I have observed.
  • For his last victory he pointed to a video that showed himself in a *very* negative light. It was a straight up punt. I mean, no one does that, right?
  • He quits races frequently, probably, after some adversity.

Here is what I conclude:
  • At 179 days he clearly loves the game and is probably more central to his life than for the rest of us.
  • He doesn't understand when he has broken the etiquette/collision/punting rules.
  • I do not sense malice.

What should we do:
  • When he does something wrong, clearly and simply state that it was wrong and and offer constructive advice. That fulfills the no BS nature of this board.
  • Be nice and offer encouragement.
  • Do not judge.
  • Or, don't respond at all.
@JoeDaSnow,

If you are reading this you are welcome to post anytime.

Slightly lower DR, and less wins across my accounts. But I absolutely agree. I'd rather finish second fairly, than winning a race by taking out the leader.

Unfortunately there are many drivers in the game who deem the win ratio as the only relevant stat.

Much lower DR and fewer wins and there's a significant number of drivers that don't know how to overtake without pushing the other driver out of the way. The amount of times I was put into the wall at Forest Elbow this past weekend was infuriatingly high.

Took the Megane Trophy out and it was easy enough to run no stop, 1st lap short shifting and running straight at 6 was more than enough. Went from 19th to 8th and would have finished 9th but got rammed at end of straight losing 2 places. Boring as hell and a car that's too slow to compete. The cars I like using are too fuel heavy and running any fuel map slows you down so much you might as well pit, so I might try running fast and see how it goes or I might just practice for the 3 races this week....oh yeah all 3 are fairly bad never mind.

I'm going to have a go with the Scirocco, since I drove it all last week in race A. Depending on traffic, I'll just stick with FM2 or 3 and shortshift. Hopefully that will buy me enough spare fuel for FM1 on the straight to not get swamped.

fuel saving is not something I enjoy. so even though the Nord is one of my absolute favourite places to race, I might not be doing that many. gonna keep reading the reports and we will see...

here are the replays I was gonna share yesterday, but I fell asleep. nothing really special about any of these races, there not wins or evidence of terrible behaviour. I rarely remember to save races so these are just the four I happened to remember to save, but they are good examples of what I want out of this game, which is good clean competition.

"tv" replay followed by my pov (hood cam)

I know there are a lot of you that are faster and better drivers than I am, so all comments on the above vids are welcomed

I remember the first time I raced online with you at Goodwood in the Renault v6 cars.
I remember how realistic it was, then looking at a replay and seeing your epic helmet :).
We have not been online at the same time much, but I know whenever I do see you it’s always clean professional racing, against one of the best out there, and the videos you shared are more of the same. Kudos to you, sir!

I quite enjoy the trophy collecting side of the Playstation, and am on a couple of forums to that end. I draw the line at ruining other people's online experience though, and promised myself that I wouldn't even reset my DR by quitting for easy wins in GTS.
This exchange will make your blood boil (Fair warning in deference to our AUP, there is colorful language used by me).

I really never realized that the trophies are such a big deal, I’m sure it explains some of the behavior online.
I think one of those posters had it right though when they mentioned the penalty system being partly to blame.
If you could imagine an excellent penalty system think how amazing the online would be.
It’s already good. But with a great system it would be fantastic.

Edit @barak181
I feel your pain with getting punted at Forrests elbow.
The proper response when you sense the guy following you is a frantic racer is pointing towards the inside track limits and braking 30-50 meters early, imo it’s something you have to do online in certain situations.
Luckily they have changed the impact physics some so when you do this you won’t get stuffed.
If people are on my six and not backing off or taking an outside line AFAIK that is intent to punt, and deserves a brake check and apex park.

I just had a quick look at the post history - I can't find a single post that isn't along the lines of "Here is <photo or video>" with no additional comment or discussion.

He's fishing for YouTube views nothing g more, much like his racing only numbers matter. I honestly couldn't care if he posts video after video here like he has boasting about his wins but I'm not going to not comment on his on track behaviour in case it offended him, its not how 99% of the people on here behave in the game and why should it matter how long someone has played the game that we should except the way they play and throw bouquets at them.

Me neither, but maybe he doesn’t know he’s in the wrong.
Obviously a lower ranked player like him lacks car control.
The more car control a player has the more obvious it is just how easy it easy to punt and divebomb using others as a brake.
People hate it because it doesn’t take any skill.

Earlier today, I had two additional victories at this week's Daily Race A. I had used the Volkswagen Scirocco Gr. 4 and Audi TT Cup in these respective races.

Ok first off congratulations on the wins. I know from experience they are hard to get as I am still trying to get my first and you earned 2 in the daily races - not an easy task.

I am NOT posting this to call you out BUT I was wondering after performing a superb NASCAR Martinsville maneuver why didn't you slow down and relinquish the position back to the racer you "moved out of the way"?

I watched it, you were at slow speed with a little throttle input but at that point in the arc of the turn a car is vulnerable to rear collisions which result in the resulting "punt" (or sometimes a spin).

After that the racing (for you) was done and all you were doing was TT laps. Is that how you want to win? Again I am not judging but I hope my first win on GTS isn't like that. I would rather settle for second place and the knowledge I did my fairest and best to win.

Good luck and enjoy your racing!

@Groundfish Thanks for the kind words. I have tried from day 1 to have a reputation for racing clean. I'm in it for the competition, not for stats. Better to make a new friend with good hard racing, then to make an enemy to get the win.

I loved that helmet. It wasn't my desing (cuse i suck at that) but it was an Ed roth style monster head, which i really liked, because i really like his stuff. Sadly it was deleted a month or so back, so now i have one thats just been sticker bombed.

Hope to see you on the track soon, my friend. You are right though, we are almost never on at the same time anymore.

There’s a suspiciously fast time at the top of the Daily C EMEA leaderboard, nearly two seconds faster than anyone else. I had a quick skip through the replay and didn’t notice anything obvious that was wrong.

Hope it’s not another wall-riding affair!

I’ve no stopped a couple of times on race C in the M4 using a combination of FM 2, 3, 4 &6 throughout the laps. It’s on an alt account but my best has been 19 to 2nd thus far
How much time did you have to spend on FM6? The Gr4 BMW is thirsty.

I bet it is legit. It is 1.0 s ahead of the Americas top time. I expect the times to go lower.

Last time with RH the top time was 08:38.237.

Usually when stuck behind someone on the north loop in high speed areas, run down to sx, kesselchen, 1st lap on DH behind someone not fuel savingetc... I forgot to add that I was majorly short shifting too (red bar just starting)

No need to qualify for this week's A race.
Although, I did 1 lap this morning for fun on my main account, and got #4. :D
I damn sure won't be entering the race with that account, though.
It's good for a K' Speed Score nudge! But yeah, as far as the race is concerned, pointless! I am glad it's back, though... a fun one. (on the alt...)

Exhausted, frustrated and annoyed. Capable of more but just couldn’t quite string perfect sectors together. Two hours and seven minutes. 76 laps. I think it’s probably the longest quali session I’ve had, ever.

That's determination!
I usually run 2-3 before I race.
Today I actually ran a few more on N24.
Still only second from last on my friends list.

Used my Daughter's account(B/S) for Race C. Qualified with the Cayman. Pole position by 10 seconds in a mostly C/S and B/S with only seven cars having qualy times.

I get smashed into the tyres at T1 by 2nd place GT-R. Gathering myself, I get smashed down to 10th, by T4. ce caps by so many players.

Head onto the Nord. A red 86 is getting battered by the mid pack. A Scriocco with two seconds is harrassing me. I'm moving out the way a bit and it's still smashing me. An Atenza buys in to pass. I don't even have the elbows out.

I'm around 8th, heading uphill. Scirocco gets ahead again. Smashes the Atenza. 86 is now following me. Big Karussel, Scirocco goes wide. I slip underneath. 86 follows. Entering the straight, Leader is about 8 seconds ahead. Of course they're going to pit. Scirocco passes the 86, but serves its penalty. It must have hit the 86 because it's further away.

Sure enough everyone but me, the 86(now 4 seconds behind) and the P2 GT-R stay out.

I'm catching the GT-R in seconds. It moves over. I pass it before the chicane that enters the Nord.

From there, I'm gone. Won by 22 seconds.

The dang Scirocco pitted and still got 1 minute penalty. Atenza, fell to last and timed out:rolleyes:

Congratulated and thanked the GT-R and 86(which passed the GT-R) for clean racing. They reciprocated well wishes.

Everyone but us three, bounced out the room post race.

Took the Megane Trophy out
Hold up! Hold up! You took a French car out? I feel like I don't know you anymore.

Must be cheating - it's nearly 30 seconds faster than I can manage.....
It'll be a decade faster than me!

You are mad sir!

So it was a bit of a meh evening in the dailies.

Race A. I'm 0.2 off the top time. Any hints on how to close the gap? I think it's more luck than judgement.;)
Start third and the train begins for the first half. Then the carriages split along several tracks at the first corner. The usual madness happens at the last corner and someone tries to lean on me and I almost spin. I hold off a car to take P6.

Race B. I enjoy DTS but can never get close to the other's times here. I don't know what it is. None the less I qualify 11th. Another Brit welcomes me with a message I did not understand. It looked like a pathetic attempt at an insult but I have no idea. I've never seen him before so it's even more strange.
I survive the first lap and the COD. But that's when things kick off as shown here:

We go 3 wide into the final chicane. The Aston with all the awareness of a turnip turns into me and bounces into the Lambo. This obviously annoys the Lambo who gets a run on the Aston who I am holding off. I give them room at the kink but the Aston doesn't and cuts across the Lambo. To be fair the Lambo should have backed out. The Lambo shoves the Aston into me and I am forced onto the grass in the braking zone. I hope that I can slow enough not to wall it. However I hit the invisible wall and career onto the track. Thankfully I stop there and can get going after leeching positions. Thanks to the COD I make back up enough places to finish 10th one up on my start place. I could have finished higher without the silly driving from others. I at least finished ahead of the Lambo.

Race C.
Didn't have time to set a time. I couldn't see my Viper so jumped into the Cayman. (I obviously need new glasses.) I set it to 6 for the start and then spent the rest of the race on 2. Lap one went o.k. and I did the lap on 0.6 laps according to the metre. But then lap 2 drained at different pace and I had to move the dial along a bit. I had the stoppers hunt me down on lap 2 and I binned it a few places trying to let them through. Most notably Adenauer Forst. The spins obviously didn't help my fuel as I had to spin around to get going. It cost me a few places as I would have probably held the gap behind I lost in the spin there and at Metzgesfeld. The car refused to brake at times. I was about 100 meters from the line when the game decided to finish the countdown so I only did 1 lap damit! Finished 12th in the end. Hopefully I can qualify and do better across the week.
