I just need to stop playing SportMode daily and online Cup (manufacturer, nations, Toyota)-races.

It's very sad, because I love this game and enjoy SportMode and Cup races a lot... If only everybody could enjoy them, instead of unleashing their rage to other players. There is some other ways/games (Wreckfest, perhaps) to do that.

My DR was in max about 17000 (B) and I thought that races should turn cleaner at that 'high' DR level. But no, same ramming, bumping and pushing still going on. And when the penalty system is a pure joke, it's seems impossible to me to climb any higher in DR.

I just wonder, how these pushers has got their DR so high? Is there some way to tweak their DR?

If you do lots of FIA races you're likely to gain more DR points, and racing tends to be cleaner (because it matters more than the daily races) so you tend to gain more there. The simple way to get higher DR is plenty of races with good finishing results. As you get more and more practice you learn how to avoid the rammers and dive bombers and get clean races. I always try to make sure I do loads of time trial laps first too, to stand the best chance of a high starting position to minimise the mid-field battles and try to maintain a "top half" finish.

My tip of the week: do not assume everyone is following the same strategy as you.

This guy started behind me on softs and with a BB of +1.
I am on mediums and have BB+4.
Guess what happens when I brake for T1...
And guess who he blames...

Well, I recovered in the end...

Did Race C in the 787B(I had to :D). Didn't finish last(a Bugatti was last and another car DNF'd) and I beat the time out at the finish.

Dang, man. Race B isn't even its normally dirty self. It's players' spacial awareness. Pretty clean first few turns. It's when cars enter the final section after the Dunlop sign. That's when everything goes haywire. I'm dropping spots because I'm too cautious. As in.. I'm giving people room to recover or they are too slow through the last section. The FFs aren't too much of a bother. Mainly the players getting up to speed.

Mustang is awesome. Not quite the top speed of the VW, but everywhere else it's sound. Initally, I set a high 45 second. Did a couple more qualy laps and dropped to a 1:44.807. Starting in the top 10, but just dropping spots. Got a 1.5 second for off track, but I was barely on the turquoise at the entry to the final section. Two races with similar results.

One more Fuji and I'm done.

Edit: This race was a bit dirty up front. Players weren't happy with the winner.

Just uninstalled the game (digital copy).. Thanks for all for the replies along the way. ;)

I think it's time for Dirt Rally 2.0 again!

Tried A and was shocked that I didn't like it and that everyone was punting.
Tried B and it was terrible too, maybe at higher lobbies this would be fun, but I'm not good enough to get decent races.
Tried C and was actually surprised at just how bad I was. I didn't quali as I knew I was slow so wanted t be at the back, but I just couldn't get the hang of this at all. I usually go into GR 1 races with low expectations and end up doing OK, not great or anything, but racing and not being a pain to other drivers. This time however I just totally couldn't get the hang of it at all, the circuit seems wrong for the cars.
This is when this game really needs a decent offline mode as I want to play, but have nothing interesting to do.

I still wonder, how can these so very eager punters, pushers and rammers have their DR so high? Do they have some way to tweak their DR?

That's the third time you've asked today, and the answer is still no.

You gain DR by beating other players. The more you beat and the better they are, the more you gain. It's literally that simple.

By punting, pushing and ramming other people out of the way and take their DR by finishing ahead of them. That's why we need a working penalty system. Without it, DR is pretty meaningless.
Just curious. Where would you rate the current penalty/matching system? Better/worse than the average?

I feel it's pretty deep on the bad side right now. Especially the matching. Matching was on the right track before the last change IMO. That's gone now. With penalties, I see more penalties issued but it hasn't helped me at all, if anything it makes races more congested and makes it harder to get away from the penalized person. Same as before.

Last few penalty updates for me have been, wait a few weeks for it to mellow out, race for a week or 2 and they change it again. Repeat.

I love a good econobox race. Grinding the Alt up to well over my main this week, it seems. Might have to jump on the main account and cash in some DR that I've loaned out over the tough FIA season.

Also up to 20 CRB thanks to the SSRX event last week! Got that tough trophy/badge finally.

I've got a 1:55.x in me, just didn't put in the time to qualify better, but I love DTG and I love these FWD road car races. You definitely need to drive the Four Brothers differently in these compared to even Gr4 FF cars. It's all about keeping the balance even and the power on, but inside of the wheel slip caused by the differential.

So far, I like the Renault Clio the best for race A at the Gardens. For me, it's the least understeery.
I just wish the gear ratio was slightly different. At the segmented turn, 3rd gear and 4th gear both just don't feel quite right, and for different reasons.
I need a 3.5 gear for that turn. :irked:

I like the VW... so stable and forgiving compared to the others. Wide torque band. Hope to see McMurphy out there later this week. It's a fun track to race road cars on... can be elbows out but not dirty at the same time... rare in GT Sport!

Earlier today, I had entered the midnight slot of this week's Daily Race A. Having qualified for that race on pole position, I had won it and also set the fastest lap in the process. The car I used in this race was a 2011 Citroën DS3.

Understeer thy name is OJBrit!

Race A.
I like Dragon Trail Gardens, abeilt the other way better but this is still good. Hopped in the Golf as it's the only one that interests me. Started 10th but man the FF's have understeer to battle. I get a mega launch and am up to 7th in the melee towards the chicane. I get through o.k. A Greek comes up behind me as I chase an Italian down. Into the left just before Istanbul they shove themselves through. I'm not happy. They then shove the Italian a little wide through the last corner. They go side by side down the straight and the Italian has the inside into the chicane. They aren't happy either and make the move forcibly. The Greek holds on and hips the Italian back through the chicane sending them into a slide. I sneak past and chase the Greek down. They brake too much into the Snout hairpin and I have to go up their inside. They turn into me as if they goaded me to do it. Again the same move from before is repeated into the lefthander. I decide to go for a nudge off the track but he is now too far ahead. I finish in 7th in the end.
I call them dirty post race and they respond '1 1'. This makes me think their move in the hairpin was a way of justifying their move by making me look dirty too. Yeah not the case. Hopefully I won't see them again.

Race B.
McLaren was good around here last time so I went in that. Felt good in all honesty.
Qualified 11th.
Had a good race with the German ahead and a Turk who came through from the back. I felt as if I didn't quite have the pace. In the end I finished where I started in 11th.

Race C.
I like Autopolis. This time of day looks gorgeous too. I don't have the Toyota so popped in my usual Audi. Good for qualy, not so much the race.
Qualified P12. This started me half way around the last corner. This meant I could go full throttle for running instantly wide, but I had to or risk being a sitting duck down the straight. Predictably I run wide and decide to cut across the last corner towards the straight. Tank slapper and by the time I recover I was a sitting duck anyway. Down to 17th. Then my cold mediums decided to throw me off out of turn 1. From here it is a recovery drive. I pass a few cars who get into trouble but I'm way off the pack. Throughout my first stint I am fighting understeer on corner entry and exit. The mediums are horrible! A Swede passes me out of the hairpin as I run wide. He has 2 second penalty to serve next lap. However they are quite slow. Next lap they break into the double left and I nudge them wide. I'm on the outside of the hairpin and they try to nudge me off. I have enough and hip them heading into the long left. The guy behind me who pitted gets past them. I let them pass going up the hill. Into the hairpin the Swede goes for a takeout and misses us both putting him into the gravel. I pit lap 6 and the car feels better on the softs but they wear quickly with the car the way it is. I pass 1 Frenchman in trouble and cross the line 16th to go 15th due to a tyre penalty.
I may go to the Porsche instead as the Audi just isn't comfortable here.

so I have to drive like a rude bloody **** and run everyone off the road so i can increase my D points?
I don't bloody think so, I admit i want to do my best but I wont resort to the behavior of those buggers, sol i guess my racing days in SPORT MODE are done

Up until recently I thought I had hit my glass ceiling. But since the recent penalty update my races have generally been cleaner. Look at my last few weeks.
upload_2021-5-24_23-18-44.png

I have doubled the DR I was generally hovering around. I never thought I'd get this high a month ago but here I am.
You will gain DR by racing. Hit the FIA as they are generally cleaner and the qualifying is better. If you start towards the front you can get a cleaner race and gain more DR. If you play dirty you will encounter repercussions. That will only drop your DR. Concentrate on your own race and you'll raise that number.

You don't have to. You can increase your DR by driving clean, assertive and not being too polite.
And then you can stop focusing on DR and focus on how the races feel.
Are you having a good race for p6-8? Then enjoy that.
The DR is meaningless anyway as long as the penalty system is non-functional.
Edit: also, most times I am getting punted or am the victim of dirty driving it turns out differently when I check the replay.
The vast majority of times it's a missed brake marker or maybe a different strategy with other tires etc etc.
There are dirty drivers around but they are not that common.

No.

Do you really think everyone above D is just ramming?
No, its the others (like me in respect to D points <2,000 ) who are in my opinion don't bloody care. I have been in enough races to see how the higher rated drivers are (decent ) it's these lower rated drivers do "brake checks"* and rub others off the sides not hard enough to get penalties themselves, and when they feel that they have been wronged they tend to actively bash and dive-bomb their opponents.

*Brake Check - when a driver gets in front of your car and slams on brakes, you tend to hit them and they go on while you will win a 2-3 second penalty.
I will post video evidence of this crime later tonight / tomorrow

I posted this earlier today. I am the Swedish car ahead of this guy.
I am sure he thinks that I brake checked him. In reality I was on mediums, they where cold and there was traffic around so I brake earlier than him. I also have BB at +4

He got a 2 sec pen, but it wasn't a brake check

I watched your clip and yes i did not see yours as a brake check, but in the one i am referring to (will post tonight) it's obvious what he did...
the driver i am mentioning had done it long before a proper braking point before the next curve

I have been doing ok in my races, i understand I am not the better driver, my skills have improved and still need improving, for example i qualified poorly and usually started in the tail end (13-16) but improved my position to 4-8 (little to no penalty, at most a 2 sec for being brake checked) and therefore i believe i am doing well, i drive assertive but not rude and shovingly, i even move aside if the other has the driving line legally... and still i see a decrease in DR points.
i do appreciate all of the encouraging words from my betters, Famine especially, for I have been following his advice since GT3 - GT4
thank you

I'm sure you will see an increase. If you finish in the upper half of the field you will gain DR.
Good luck, hope to see you in race one day.

Renegaded on my claim to only do Race C, sort of. Decided to try Race B, then realise that I actually hate Fuji. I am still in love with the 80s and 90s version, and therefore still hate the current format, and I am crap at that section.

Fuji in GT4 was my Bane, i disliked it so because it was a pain but with all hard things i kept on it until i mastered it as best i could, its been a nice track.
i always have to remember to take the last set of Esses slow and wide to make the apex to get on the straight correctly

Honestly, if you can spend the time to learn a slightly different line around Autopolis it seems like there is DR for the taking there early in the week. People take a few days to change to a smooth line and learn to avoid curbs like the plague.

I finished p4 and p1 in 2 races last night. Both times I beat a bunch of players who are faster than me in almost all combos. The difference here was I was consistent and on track. They were all struggling with that and spinning out at least once or twice a race.

If you can lap without getting the death wobbles you can undercut or overcut and really make bank here.
