I don't know if I'll do many of the daily races this week.....if any. I just did some laps at each track with the appropriate car(s)/truck. Good lord the Tundra ***** slow. Like, it takes a couple seconds for it to actually change gears, slow. And that uphill section? I was ready to each lunch for how long it took to get up the hill.

Every car I tried at Suzuka was all over the place. I couldn't put in a consistent 2 laps to save my life. My best lap was a 0:53.334.....4 seconds off the pace. That was in an NSX; a car I like and can usually drive pretty well. I switched to the Lancer, but that thing handles like a boat. NO turn in, NO power oversteer (well, no power at all, really). I even bought and tried the 4C. I couldn't keep the back end from swapping places with the front for more than 1 lap. I tried the Toyota 86; it felt way too slow to me. I may try a couple more to see if I can get a better qualifying time, but it doesn't look hopeful. And who decided it was a good idea to use that time of day? The sun is right in your eyes and it's glaring so bad you can hardly see the track in front of you. Yeah, yeah, I know.....real racing simulator and all that. But come on..... Also, I can foresee many, MANY penalties being dished out for cutting the last turn too soon. People will be turning in way too soon, cutting across that little grass strip, and will be given a penalty. As well, I can foresee many people being ran off the track at any of the turns going through the esses.

And Fuji? I've never really been a big fan of that track, anyway. It always seems very slippery to me. I've never done really well at it at any time.

I'll keep plugging away on Suzuka, but I don't know if I'll do many races this week on any of them. I just wasn't having any fun.
The Race at Suzuka is a great place to try something new. I had a great time learning how to drive the (currently META for QT) Alfa... it has gobs of front end grip and rotates instantly. A much different driving experience than most other Gr4 cars and Suzuka brings out its best. Have some fun with it!

I tried the 4C. I was all over the place with it. It is definitely tail-happy with me at the helm. The 458 Italia is a much better car, for me. I'd already put a lot of miles on it, so I knew how it drives.

For race B, the 4C is the fastest, but also the hardest to control. It likes to slide a lot.

The 86GT and Genesis are good stable alternatives. The Genesis is faster on the main straight but not as fast as the 4C in the corners, you can help yourself by shifting the brake bias all the way to the rear.
I tried the Huracan (51.9), Slophy (51.8) and Atenza (51.1). Atenza would be my pick for this one. I might try the 4C, 86 and Genesis this evening...

Tried the WRX. It does handle a lot better than the Evo, but I'm still slow with it. I tried my 458 Italia. I did much better and set a new personal best qualifying time. It's easy for me to throw that car around and not really lose control of it. I think if I put in some more time with it, I should be able to have a couple decent races with it.

I also have a gripe. On the 1-make races, they don't let you use user-created liveries. It always switches it back to the stock color. Which I don't like. To me, it's a way to personalize your car/truck to stand out from the crowd.
Race A is designed as a beginner's race, so it allows a new user to hop into a race without owning the car - so everyone can participate on a fairly level playing field. I agree it would be nice to be able to use your own livery (I might have a few more N-class liveries if that were the case!) but I can see why it doesn't work like that.

Do you mind if I ask - what the heck is a Slophy?
Megane Trophy - so slow it's regarded as the Slophy (slo[w tro]phy). It's top speed is fairly laughable.

This car got me the fastest lap so far, at race B. It probably won't hold up, because I will be trying more cars, but it did a 50.6 lap.
It has a good combo of power and agility. Worth a try for those who, like me, have trouble controlling the Alfa 4C. :)

But I don't have the Mello Yello BMW.....?

😎 😉

HOWEVER.....I did create a livery for the one I had. I then went to test it. I beat my previous qualifying record; finally got it under 0:52 (0:51.875). I like the way it handles, nice and easy.

1 Race B this morning. Started 11th/finished 12th. Clean, fun race.

Thought I did well but lost a ton of DR. I guess I need to start higher. But as I said, I thought I did pretty well keeping up....damn fast crowd.

Ran a "B" in the BMW. I started 8; finished 12th. I'd made it up to 6th, but then I put a tire on the grass coming out of turn 1 on lap 3. That caused me to spin, losing a few spots. 🤬 at myself for that bonehead mistake. I was trying to drive nice and conservatively to try and get some more clean race awards. But you don't get those for spinning and going head first into a wall. Then, I got nudged off in the esses on the final lap. I saved it, but I lost the spot. I almost lost another spot due to my slow speed. I crossed the line barely in front of another driver.....like maybe 0.010 ahead.

I'm getting a lot of victories at race A as 80% of the people seem to be playing wreck fest. However my SR will not move up and just got reset again. All the side swipes and brake checks still trigger red SR now and then (I'm trying to avoid it all but it's chaos) which ways far more heavily than the couple SR points you can get at race A, with CRB and all.

It's fun anyway, and I met some clean drivers to have a great second lap with once the wreck fest players have fallen back.

Managed a 2nd place at Fuji, which is a best ever result for me - DR back to 20k. The first time I raced Gr3 at Fuji (2020 I think) I was lapped with 2 laps to go.

I still seem to wreck my tyres there, far worse than anywhere else (motion control user) and that last godawful section loses me a second or more per lap once the tyres start to go. Even on fresh tyres I just can't seem to turn tight enough.

Great racing at Suzuka in the 86 - bit slow on the straight maybe, but it's fun in the corners. Managed a few 2nd and 3rd places.

I really love Fuji. Got my quali down to 1:37.3 which has been good for midpack. But I keep getting knocked off track.

For example, I do the gentlemanly thing and give ample space to someone on the inside and they pay me back with a nice sideswipe to end my race. Time and time again. It may have been better in DR B. Three races, two rage quits and a last place so far today.

Insurgency comes out tomorrow. I am seriously considering putting down GT Sport and waiting until March and hope they put in a penalty system in GT7. because this isn't even remotely fun.

Edit - And somehow my SR went DOWN from 99 to 52? What? But of course!

Tried Race B again. Quit after the 2nd punt. Not doing that again.

Kind of glad to lose the DR. I always get matched with worse drivers the higher I go and get punted down.

Did you lose any SR? I'm not understanding how I lost 47 SR in one race. I refrained from revenge punting so maybe there is something wrong with the latest update?

Lost -1 SR.

I pretty much only lose SR when quitting. Although last week I lost -6 at DTS, no idea why but was back to 99 after the next race. Before that maybe 2-3 weeks without any -SR.

Oh yeah you can lose tons from quitting. Never quit. It always works out better if you at least finish.

Says the guy who quits frequently.
Ok, well that's good to know. I'm a hair away from being reset. I'll try to get back to 99 before I consider giving up. I can't leave my stats looking like that.

I managed to get my qualifying time down to 51.088. And, try as I might I could not find that extra tenth of a second to get a 50.9XX second lap. Still happy with my time and I'm hoping it will put me closer to the front so I can avoid the potential mess of turn 1.

Decided to run a quick "B" race (I'd been working on liveries for a while). I started 6th; finished 3rd. It was a pretty good race. I ALMOST spun at the end of lap 5. I got on the throttle a bit too quick coming out of the final turn and ran a little bit wide. There was a Scirocco right behind me and I figured he'd make the pass since I lost a lot of time and speed. But it didn't happen. I looked back, and he was nowhere in sight. I know he was right behind me going into the turn, but I didn't see him after that. After watching the replay, I see that he went off the track and into the sand right behind me. He cut the corner (not a penalty cut), got onto the grass on the right hand side, did a bit of sliding, and couldn't hold it to make the rest of the turn. He went off to the left and lost 2 spots. If not for that, he could've easily passed me on the straight.

Overall a fun race. There was a bit of banging and pushing, but thankfully I wasn't involved in it. A couple people got sent off the track and lost a tone of time and spots. There was one driver, started 14/16, who spun on the 1st lap.....at the beginning of the race! It's a terrible way to do the start on that particular track. It should be a grid start, not a rolling start. Some cars start in the turn and if you don't have your wheels just right, you take a big chance of going off at the very beginning.

Haven’t posted much of late as work and life have been a bit hectic.

Finding this week’s dailies pretty uninspiring. Race A had the potential to be great, but the lack of a penalty system means it’s just a punt fest.

Race C has some interesting possibilities with lots of cars and strats competitive, but Fuji just seems to suck the joy out of racing for me. It feels so sterile and formulaic somehow. I think there are too many similar corners with opportunities for dives that kill momentum for both cars.

Man, I cannot turn consistent laps at Suzuka. I qualified with a 50.8 using the Alfa...but I can't string laps together that are within a half second of that time...and usually end up off the track trying to make up time.

I've tried the Megane...I can't turn a fast lap with that at all....all the other cars I tried seem to understeer.

Anyone have another car I should try that perhaps I have not thought of?
