Man, I cannot turn consistent laps at Suzuka. I qualified with a 50.8 using the Alfa...but I can't string laps together that are within a half second of that time...and usually end up off the track trying to make up time.

I've tried the Megane...I can't turn a fast lap with that at all....all the other cars I tried seem to understeer.

Anyone have another car I should try that perhaps I have not thought of?
Have you tried the GT86? I managed a 50.7 in the Alfa, but I'm way more consistant with the GT86 at 51.1-2. They feel similar to me but I seem to go off less in the GT86

I have awoken from a false reality and fully realized that "it is just a game" and with GT7 just months away from release I am no longer concerned about my DR & SR ratings, if I do well all th he much better, if I fail, I just dust myself off and try again but not sweating the numbers.
I always want to do well and practice will improve my skills, but for dirty drivers that WILL punt, shove, nudge, bump, brake- check, and ram, I shall not retaliate or return in kind I will let them go and ruin others fun.

Hoping that GT7 will have a better penalty system...

Thank you for listening.

I have tried the 86...I'm pretty good with it in qualifying but it seems outmatched in the race.

It's beginning to dawn on me that I might just suck at this track lol

3 races for me tonight with 1 being good, and the other 2 bad. I also managed to get my qualifying time to a 50.958 which was a surprise to be sure.

Race 1 I start P6 and run off track twice in the first 2 laps coming out of the final hairpin. I manage to save it the first time and get reset the second time. Fall to dead last but manage to get back to P11 in the end.

Race 2, I start P8 in a mixed room of A, B, and a single A+ driver. I manage to not lose control this time in the final hairpin so that’s a win already. I get to P4 after 2 others go off track. I then defend my position for 4 laps until I make a mistake and P5 gets by me. Now it’s my turn to make a move, but I can’t as another car that went off track rejoins and hits me in the side and kills my momentum. I thought they were going to ghost, but I was in the racing line so I couldn’t really move out of the way. I finish P4 after defending from the driver behind me.

Race 3 I start P4 and stay within a few seconds of P1. But I exit too wide coming out of turn 1 and spin out and fall to P9 where I finish. Which stinks because I was keeping pace as I said. I even made a nice pass the previous lap on the inside of the same turn 1. Just disappointing overall. But I can be competitive in the Slophy so I just need to stay on track and get some good results.

Haven’t posted much of late as work and life have been a bit hectic.

Finding this week’s dailies pretty uninspiring. Race A had the potential to be great, but the lack of a penalty system means it’s just a punt fest.

Race C has some interesting possibilities with lots of cars and strats competitive, but Fuji just seems to suck the joy out of racing for me. It feels so sterile and formulaic somehow. I think there are too many similar corners with opportunities for dives that kill momentum for both cars.
You're not wrong about Race A....it's actually really fun racing, but damn some people are really disrespectful. Qualifying 2nd is pretty much an assured trip to the sandpit turn 1.

I had no problem with the old penalty system for the most part (except for the times where you could cop a penalty for being punted into a wall....). To see that some of the rubbish drivers in our region still have Sr ratings of S somehow is just infuriating - the clean drivers shouldn't have to put up with clowns like that.

I won by .006...

I had time for only 1 race, tonight. I got home from work later than usual. I did some work on a livery, and then did a few practice laps and 1 race of "B". I started 8th; finished 8th. Plus I got a clean race award. Nothing too exciting. I hit the brakes (for no reason whatsoever) going into 1 of the esses. The car behind caught me, got on my left, and I side-swiped him going into the next turn and pushed him off the track. I slowed to let him pass. He didn't gain a position, but I lost 1 (me to 10th, him to 9th.....where he was, originally). On that same lap, someone spun on the final turn, and we both gained a position. 2 laps later, he ran wide, I got my original position back, and he lost 2 positions. I don't know how I got the clean race award, though. I literally hit someone and they went off the track. I guess it's as messed up as the penalty system.

I climbed back up to 22K DR, close to SR.A (doing race A) with a coupld 4 race clean streaks, and then too many bad apples showed up together. Tonight has been the dirtiest racing I've seen since, well, yesterday... Down to 10 SR and reset to 7K DR. Can't avoid em all.

GT Sport will "match players of similar skill and maturity levels" is total false advertising at this point.

Scratch that, SR.E now, 3K DR. There is no point in trying anymore, it's payback time. Nothing left to lose.

Managed to get involved in some of the most chaotic Race Cs I've ever had in this game (that I can remember). Sector 3 is a nightmare and that means it makes really good photos/clips. You just need the stars to align. My first two races were in the 911 RSR and being in not top split meant that most people were driving what they wanted. Truly a beautiful thing. I know about the C7s

A Quarter of the Grid in a Single Photo

For the third race, my mood was between -- Yhorm the Giant -- and -- Take a Load Off (Gladiator Remix). Not really... But the mindset was mostly about survival than anything else.

Drove in the SLS and dragged it roughly halfway up the grid. Given the circumstances, I think that's just fine.

name and shame...

When I dislike a track it's usually because that track is probably a pain in the posterior and therefore I try very hard to master that track. The current track I'm talking about is Bathurst, it is the esses that always trips me up. Well I have not mastered this track but I am better in the esses than I was before...
After many attempts of the daily race A, finally I do have a victory and funny it is my first on this track with any car.
I started in P4 and after T1 I was in P3 and because P1 & P2 went a little off track shortly before the last turn I slipped into P1 and all was mine for the final lap.
I don't think it improved my DR much but im happy for my victory. 17c35ba0cbf10-3fa315B375F96579043.7F0DCD06C091CCF5_message_418045136696369_1632988815220.jpg17c35b9cbbf20-3fa315B375F96579043.7F0DCD06C091CCF5_message_418045131552249_1632988795125.jpg

P.S. I had blue S in all my races but I dropped 4 SR points??
How?

You lose SR for quitting? This would explain my dramatic loss.
If you quit, you essentially give a load of DR to everyone else who finishes - you're finishing last (if you're the first to quit or d/c). The DR system is basically a point share system - the guy finishing first gets loads of DR from everyone else in the pack, the guy who finishes last gives his DR to the rest of the pack. In a nutshell...

And quitting is a 5 SR loss too

The best advice I can give is use both throttle and brake simultaneously going over the edge and down. Stables the car tremendously.
For the essess I go the far left for entry, steer in smoothly at full speed aiming to 'straighten' it out so that my right wheels are just touching the curb (on track) and brake in a straight line to 3rd gear to take the dipper as straight as possible.

The worst I found out is getting disconnected after the turn one and two mayhem. Not only do you get the -5 SR hit for 'quitting', you also miss all the SR ups for finishing the race. 'Disconnected due to data loss' after getting caught in a chaotic race start brawl had me reset yesterday.

Study a good track guide on YouTube. I recommend @Mistah_MCA for track guides and @Tidgney for all that is GT sport. They have helped me out immensely. 🍻

I think you guys are talking about going down the mountain not the esses. I assume you're talking about the dipper through forrests? The esses themselves are easy if you get the dipper right, just flat chat, it's the dipper that makes it tricky.
Is there a forum or section with all the tracks and corner names? It’s embarrassing my lack of knowledge considering how I love racing. 😬

The esses are the small kinks before the Dipper after Skyline on top of the mountain.

One thing race A is good for is identifying the trouble makers. I did a couple races this morning, already put another 6 people on my block list. Cleaning house before GT7 lol. The ratio of trouble makers to those wanting a clean race is 5:1 :/ Race A always attracts the door bangers due to lower speeds, trucks on the mountain on racing tires without penalties is the perfect storm. Also why only 2 laps, it's 11 minutes between races! Actually the race is under 6 minutes (which does make it easy to multi task)

Just google it, there's a million bathurst track maps. And watch the 1000 in October, Supercars a have a ton of power (well over 650HP), ridiculously small tyres and not a lot of downforce so offer a good guide on how to tackle that section.

Looks like @Qyn is way to the outside in your photo. I know that paint job.

I shall not retaliate or return in kind I will let them go and ruin others fun.
I understand and respect your stance on driving cleanly.
However, you kind of owe it to the other clean drivers on the track to "take out the trash" when it's warranted.
Think of it as Batman stopping the villains from committing their dirty deeds.
It's heroic. :D
