Hey. I'm new to this forum. But anyone else been getting consistent 1min penalties in the GR3 race at Fuji. I've tried everything still seem to get the penalty. Any advice ?

Welcome
You need to use both softs and mediums as they are both mandatory tyres. It normally says it in the race details, or in the bottom right when you load into the race lobby.

Actually Saturday morning isn't so bad on the mountain. I'm in SR.B atm and the clean drivers are finally out in bigger numbers compared to the trouble makers. The start to the cutting is still chaos, yet overall much better than yesterday.

It is still early of course, and I'll be taking a long (cycling) break after the next race. I assume it will be very different again once all the kiddies are logged in...

Disconnected after finishing, waiting for other players to finish. And yup, counted me as last and deducted DR and SR. FFS PD, fix you damn net code and why label me a quitter when I get disconnected after the finish line. Oh well, time for a break, SR.A is out of reach on race A. Always something.

I'm back, and it's indeed scumbag Saturday. I dropped 7 SR in the first race, got rammed a couple times and pushed off the road, punted into the esses. And since one of the scumbags was DR.D (with the speed of DR.B / DR.A) I get SR deducted. Business as usual.
 
Well I've crawled back to around 20K and it was easy keeping SR at 99, but now I have the choice of play clean and lose or dirty and do well (or get punted so badly I come DFL). Don't want either so going to try a crazy tactic. Start on meds and do 1 lap, then pit twice keeping clean air and avoid all the fighting.
 
PD needs to set some rules about new accounts as well. Just now I had a race with one other B/B player, the rest E/B, all driving like idiots. (fast enough and know the track and where to grind people into walls, just created the account to drive dirty)

It's another match criteria PD could use. Why put me with over a 1,000 races on Bathurst against accounts that do their first races there. It's either a total mismatch, or a dirty player creating the account to mess things up.

Anyway back at 50 SR, 25,785 DR. The problem is, for some reason high SR.B matches me against D/B players, which cost me SR when they ram me. So I go back to the lower 40s, where I get matched with B/B (and E/B) players an get blue SR again. It's a never ending up and down!
 
I wonder if FF cars were banned from GR4 races would we have better racing? Always seems to be an RCZ or a TT punting everyone off at Suzuka - then they usually bin it and quit anyway.

On a positive note, my driving around Mount Panaroma has improved a lot just by having a slower class of car there. Started off around 1.37 - got down to a low 1.35 and then managed a 1.34.5 today. I have no idea how the top guys get a 1.31!!

Simple they cheat, not checked a fast guy out this time but there are track limits that make no sense and the fastest guys abuse them. Not really moaning about them cheating as if one does it the rest have no choice if they want to compete, this is an issue that PD should have fixed years ago.

I kinda think that My Panorama isn't that bad with track limits.
But will check out a replay.

You can practically take the esses straight, just touching the kerb of the kink with your right wheel is enough. It's where I make up an easy 1.5 sec on people that don't know this. The esses are basically two small right turns, no left until the dipper.

I've seen people wildly abuse the final stretch but that does trigger a penalty (up to 7 sec). But if you finish before the penalty shows it doesn't count. People get away with that on Sarthe, not sure if you can make it on Mount Panorama. I've also seen people wall ride through the cutting. Without penalties Tokyo east will be easy to wall ride through T1 as well.


Sunday morning is bad again, too many dirt bags out. I'm getting matched with D/B drivers again, low DR from resets I guess as they can keep up fine. However getting rammed by DR.D, now I'm back down to SR 33, was close to SR.A smh. It's that threshold to SR.A that matches me with low DR players for whatever reason. I'm at 27,609 DR atm, close to DR.A.

Love what PD has done with the place, not.

Thursday had the 'cleanest' racing, but I haven't seen any race where someone did not get pushed or bumped into a wall.
I did far too many races last week (231), 'easy' when it's just 5 minutes here and there.
84 victories added to Mount Panorama, 223 top 5 finishes.

I tried, I did touch SR.S in one race, which was the worst race matchmaking could produce, all SR.S...
Matchmaking is beyond broken, DR letters have nothing to do with the pace people race at, SR letters have nothing to do with how clean or dirty a driver is. Well done PD, you totally randomized your entire ranking system.

However that truck is still really nice to drive over the mountain!
I managed to get a 2:32 lap in, 2:33s with a clear track, 5:16 best finish time.

Btw, Race A is the Porsche Tycan Turbo S

Welcome to the board. There are some other nuances to Race C.
  • The pit rules will change each week - be sure to review the race details.
  • Do practice the pit entry as some are easy and some are tricky.
  • I find the icons confusing when changing tires so "know" the tires you are on and "know" the tires you want to switch to.
  • Practice pit exit and learn your breaking point for the following corner.
  • You will experience tire wear in Race C so monitor the "red" on the tire icon (normally lower left).
 
Two years of playing Sports Mode and I've finally achieved DR.A! I'm sure it won't last but man, there was a point that I never thought it would happen. And the crazy thing is - if I had to guess what track it would happen on, Fuji would have been pretty far down that list. Something just clicked this week, I guess.

I ran Race C a handful of times yesterday and had some good fun despite the constant barrage of dirty drivers, blockers, weavers, punters etc..

Tested several cars and only re-used a couple of them. Seems there are a lot of decent choices outside of the meta's. My favorites in race trim were the RCZ, Genesis and Vantage.

I really like the Vette in time trial but it just didn't feel as good in-race. The Genesis and Vantage surprised me. They both hold their own pretty well in terms of top-end speed and acceleration, especially in the draft, yet they still maintain some pretty decent handling characteristics.

The RCZ is definitely the best race car, hands down. You can brake so late in it and it's not the fastest on the straight but it's not terribly slow either. It's very easy to drive for an MR car since it doesn't oversteer as much, yet it still rotates very well throughout the race even after tire wear kicks in.

Just ran a few "A" races. What a **** show. The last race I did, 3 times someone came to an almost complete stop at a turn. That caused me to either also slow way down or hit them. And in that same race, I was doing well, not hitting any walls, staying on the track.....on my way to my 6th clean race in a row. Then I get hit from behind from someone who didn't like it in last place. That ruined my clean race run. 🤬 He knocked me into the wall HARD at the start of the downhill section. That caused me to almost spin. The stupid thing was he had a penalty. He passed me and another driver with that idiotic move. The other driver did spin, so I went passed him easily. When the driver that caused it served his penalty, I caught him pretty quickly. I saw he was on the left, so I moved over to the right. He moved over to the right, so I moved left. He moved left, so I moved right. He moved right, again, and at that point I was right on him. He hit the brakes causing me to hit him and causing him to spin and rage quit. I then get passed by the other driver he'd caused to spin earlier that same lap. Coming up to the left-hander after the long back straight, he stands on the brakes and I almost hit him. We make it through that section, then are coming down the final straight. At the final turn, he's on the right, so I move to the left to try for the inside line. I'm gaining on him and know that I can brake late going into that turn and still easily make it. As I come up to the turn, he brakes HARD, moves over right in front of me, continues to brake, then slowly pulls away. I had to come to an almost complete stop to avoid slamming into him and running him off the track. I'm catching up to him, again, on lap 2 and he brakes hard, again, at turn 2. It's like he thinks the truck is going to break in half if he takes the turns to quickly.

And he was all over the track, too. I could tell he was using a d-pad controller. I use one, too, but I'm not all over the track like that. At least I don't think I am. Any replay I watch I'm never driving like that. I try to be as smooth as I can to avoid any issues with unsettlnig the car.

My current clean race award streak is 5. I was working on #6 when some idiot decided he wanted to play bumper-trucks. I was rather enjoying the trucks at Panorama. It was actually pretty fun. Until this last race.....😐

Had a sticky beak on kudos, looking at Sport Mode participation. For the next Race C, it reads mandatory stop:1.
Had a look at the Race C at Fuji, Mandatory stop: None.
 
I had returned to Race B at Suzuka East and won three additional times in a Volkswagen Scirocco Gr. 4. I also entered Race A at Mount Panorama Circuit, where I had won it twice.
 
Quick question, is this the first time the Taycan gets used in a Daily Race? Because if so then interesting.

Either way I would've had fun with Daily Race A but my PS Plus sub has been expired.
 
Just tried race c and it definitely is a mandatory stop, half the field got a 1 minute penalty. I used the Scirocco, but it looks like the Meganne Trophy and the Ferrari are slightly better. Not by much, maybe a few tenths.

Don't think you have to take tyres, just stop and go.

It depends on your level. A and up might need to use the meta, but lower classes it's generally just the car you do best in. I usually find the meta isn't the best car for me. I'm starting out in the Genesis as I find it very stable and I'll probably try and find something that is faster later.

Was going to play some Spa to get better, but once was enough. Even though I was competitive with the guys around me, there just isn't any good passing places. Yes you can pass people if the make a slight error, but even then trying to do it clean is nearly impossible. Or I'm still not good enough there?

Maybe this is PD listening again. Not enough for me to boot up the game again, but hopefully, it‘s a feature we can use in GT7 Custom Race and Lobbies.
