Tried Race C for the first time. Only to receive a 1 min penalty because I was blind to see the mandatory pitstops, only thinking that there were only tire requirements in every daily race C. Tried again and this time I pitted when the race immediately starts, only to receive the same penalty from a decent position.
Should I pit in at a different lap or at each lap? I don't want to lose another 2k DR anymore. :grumpy:

You can't duck into the pits without completing a lap, otherwise you're just starting the race from the pits; likewise I don't think you can pit at the end of the final lap - so drive an opening lap and pit, or pit before the last lap.

Not that I thought it would let me, but I had such a bad race I had to try it and no you can't pit on last lap either. End of 1-7, but no need to actually change tyres. Only saves about a second, but can leapfrog an opponent.

Well it's totally weird now, just had a dirty race and I was bad and punted a guy even hit the wall doing it. Was I red? No I got a CRB. Have been wondering about this as yesterday I was blue every game even the ones where I wasn't too good.

I saw a driver do it in a Manu race last season, tyre management the whole race and finished the race in the pit lane somehow. Other than that I've never seen it work.

Well it didn't for me, so they have fixed it or maybe it's still possible on some tracks?
It was on the Sardegna track, I think B layout. Unsure if it was a glitch at the time or something particular to that track. It's the only time I've ever seen it done and was quite stunned by it. He won by some margin too!

I had no idea the circuit was so different once upon a time! Looks like it would have been an insane place to drive back in the day, with some incredibly fast banked corners and very little safety margins involved! It would be awesome if PD would add "Classic" versions of the circuits, like this, so we could race the classic race cars on a classic circuit for proper classic feels!

Original Spa circuit would be nuts, like a Nordschliefe style circuit:

The original Silverstone would probably be boring but insanely quick:

And the original Monza circuit would be just pure flat out fun!

I was going to post this up but realized you had another layout up.

When we talk about classic layouts don't forget this one

That picture doesn't do the Masta kink justice. Go look on Google maps as the route is still there just repaved public roads. The layout is still the same. It was the fastest section and flat out. Sir Jackie Stewart crashed his car there and ended up in a farmhouse. Lucky to walk away without any major injuries.

Spoilered for gory details:
That Masta was lost to F1 racing after the 1970 race was partly its own fault. Jackie Stewart's crusade to improve safety in motor racing was to a large extent set in motion by his crash here in 1966, when his BRM ended up upside-down in the cellar of the farmhouse on the outside of the corner, with fuel gushing out of the tank directly on to Stewart, who had broken ribs to add to his misery. Thankfully the petrol did not ignite.
Another particularly gruesome story comes from the 1973 24-hour sportscar race during which three drivers were killed. During one of his pitstops during the night, Hans-Joachim Stuck shouted to his co-driver Jochen Mass over the noise that he should "look out for body parts at the Masta Kink". Mass arrived there expecting to see bits of car all over the road but was appalled to discover it was in fact bits of an unfortunate marshal...

Have been running a few Race Cs but the standard of driving is making me seriously consider giving up the online mode

I’ll happily admit I’m not great on this track, so I try to get out of the way when guys are faster, but the amount of punting, pit maneuvers and general push to pass racing takes all the joy out of the game.

I’ve just had back to back races where I was divebombed turn 1 lap 1. I held on to it and got a better run, so the guy pit maneuvered me. I then got divebombed by different driver a few laps later. He had just left the pits as I went past and simply decided to use me as a guide rail rather than brake. A few laps later I get punted at the left hand hairpin where the tracks meet.

Next race started better and I thought it might be ok but oh no. In the space of 2 laps I get pushed into the grass on exit from the first hairpin. Then, later a Ferrari has a better run and is drafting me into the downhill esses. He inexplicably decides that since he’s carrying a bit of extra speed he’ll get an overtake done through there. Sensing disaster I lift and that’s his cue to swing hard right and smack me off track and, ultimately, into the wall.

I have now dropped about 8k DR and the frustration is just getting impossible to bear. Why oh why can’t we have some sort of penalty system reinstated?

That Spa track looks amazing! I really wish PD would add more longer tracks like this one and the Nordschleife, those are the most fun to drive. I saw a post on the General GT7 discussion thread that combined the best sectors and corners of like 10 tracks orso, that one looked insane and would take like 10 to 15 minutes to lap.

geez, imagine if that happened today, with all the media and such...

So Spa, I am in a really awkward spot pace wise. GT Blade says I am faster than 96% of B drivers so likely DR-B a bit below where I am. However in DR-A and SR99, I am starting last except for the guys that don't qualify. Awkward.

I got a great run from STavelot through Blanchimont and did not QUITE allow enough room under brakes into the chicane and tagged the man in front of me, resulting in me dropping from SR99 to SR92. Next race, I started 6th, much better, I felt in the race rather than just circulating at the back waiting for guys to fall off the road after i let the A+ non qualifiers pass me.

Problem in the US, at the pointy end of the DR scale, is that even with a 'respectable' QT, you'll start mid-pack or back, because of such a limited number of players. It's frustrating to put in a QT that's in the top 25th percentile or better for A drivers, only to be gridded with A+/A drivers and starting in the second half of the grid in most Dailies. Makes it tough to move up from high-A DR, for sure. That said, I enjoy the challenge (but it's a grind!).

100% happy with the challenge if it was say 4 races from 5 but it is more like 19 from 20 if I am SR99. I simply cannot run with these guys even mid pack, i just can't.

I'm in the same spot. My Q is always decent but I haven't developed a good race pace yet. I was in two lobbies yesterday no Q with the number one qualifier on the leaderboards and a bunch of fast guys. FL was in the 1:15's but the back of the pack was actually slowing me down.

I really need to work on things. I don't mind the challenge and running mid pack as long as it's clean. I set a 17.4 Q today to see how it goes and might try some C races. I'm a big fan of more laps but haven't raced GR4 yet.

I think if I shift my vision forward more and work towards being less reactive to what the car is doing I'll get better. It almost seems like the fast guys are way ahead on their inputs. Ot I'm getting old and my reflexes suck. Lol

Yeah I can usually Q okish, but that's at 11/10ths and i use every mm of road. In race though my Q is pretty accurate, guys behind a bit slower other than the no qualifiers and guys in front too quick. I'd be fine starting a bit higher but relentless race after race at P15 is wearing on me. I might nudge a wall here and there to keep SR at 90ish not 99.

Did a few "A" and "B" races. I had a good streak of clean races going for the "A" races (still stuck at 5 in a row). But that got messed up, again, by other drivers wanting to pull over in front of someone else and just come to an almost complete stop before a turn. WTH is the reasoning for that?! Is it just to be an a-hole? Or are they mad that other drivers are faster than them and can't stand being behind everyone else and refuse to finish in last place?

For the "B" races, twice I managed to raise my position pretty well. The 1st race I started 16th (by design); and I finished 7th. The next race I started 12th and finished 6th. I also got a clean race award for the 2nd one. I don't know how, though. Twice I hit other cars that had spun out in front of me.

You know, I always heard that DR.A races were worse than DR.B races when it came to punts, shunts, barging and ramming but good grief, I was not prepared for the sheer stupidity of it. Maybe I'll purposely tank my DR back to mid-B just so I can enjoy some actual racing for a change...
I think DR A folks mostly fall into two categories:
  • people who are naturally that fast and don't really care about rating, they just want to drive
  • people who live for their rating and will stop at nothing to avoid falling to the 'shame' of DR B.

Sadly, it seems that a lot of the first category have given up as a result of the unpenalised actions of the second.

That has been my experience for years. As soon as I get with the A/S crowd again things start getting stupid. Currently I'm racing with the B/S crowd at Spa and races are fairly clean (Compared to last week it's night and day difference). Sure you still have plenty dive heroes, but a lot less shoving and barging.

So I'm fine without qualifying, got some good fair races in today and enjoy the variety of cars used on the track. I imagine A/S rooms are Supra onemakes...

Started getting a little more aggressive on the exit and managed a 17.0 and 16.5 optimum so it's a step in the right direction.

On another note I was thinking.... We have less people playing, lots of gripes about bad drivers and so on. Personally I'm practicing for GT7 and competing on a larger level and I'm sure others want to practice.

What if I did a weekly lobby of the daily race stuff on a Sunday or something? That way we can race during the week then have some good clean sessions to work on stuff for the future.

If anyone is interested send me a message so this thread stays on topic.

I love the Daily Races with Friends series but I'm typically not available Friday nights. I'm available most Sunday afternoons - but not all (like this Sunday is bad for me) - and a friendly Sunday lobby would be nice. I'm in AZ, BTW.

Could've finished the last race in 7th. But the driver (heh....driver, lol) I passed, after he ran wide) didn't like that and rammed me going into the final chicane (race "B"). That caused me to come back on track just as another car got there, and I collided with him, too. Why can't people just accept where they are. If you can make a clean pass, then make a clean pass. But when you ram another driver off the track to take their position simply because you don't like that they passed you after you made a mistake, then you're a POS.

Will do. I'm in MI. Was thinking Sunday night but I'll see how the response is. Im even up for practice lobbies during the week too.

True. I was thinking something geared more towards rookies like me and others in the same range.
That sounds a lot like

I managed to get my time down to a 2:30.444. I’m happy with this time with the little time I’ve had with this combo. My only fear with the race is others diving inside and using me as an assist whenever I might run wide in all the hairpins. I’m still not the best with my lines, but I should be able to hold my own in the race. I do feel more confident with the Ferrari and am starting to trust the car more with everything. It’s probably going to become my new go-to GR.4 car depending on the combo.

I'd run in some practice lobbies if I have the time. Running laps by myself is boring and some others to drive with would be fun.

Hmm, my internet messed up, dropped to 1 bar during the race and although I didn't hit anyone and it didn't seem anyone around me was affected by my car (everything seemed to run normal) I lost 20 SR in that race. 5 races worth in race B... There goes my clean streak. Yay Rogers Cable Crap Net.

Ugh again, didn't touch anyone, things look normal, but it shows me as 1 bar and a red A again after the race. Testing network speed the ps5 gives me 54 mbps down, 10 mbps up. One day the internet will start to work...

3rd attempt, still one red bar. This time there was some suspicious movement from a car ahead, my projected car might have bumped another car off :ouch:Yet I got the clean race bonus and +4 SR. Speed test says my ping time is 23ms, tons of bandwidth, no clue. I'll go play something else instead of probably being a hazard on the road.

Cool. I think practice lobbies are a good idea too. I'm also tired of solo laps.

If your entry speed is good hairpins need a quicker turn in most of the time. I try to hit a late apex with the car pointed at the exit if it's really tight.
