I'm finding the same thing with it. Strange, because I never got on with it before. Looking forward to trying it on different circuits now.
It' a funny one because I used to love the Ferrari yet now I feel like it wants to snap around on me at the slightest turn. I don't if it's because I've been using the Corvette almost exclusively and got used to it's weight and needing to put more effort into turning but going back to the Ferrari has me feeling skittish going into turns.

I've been enjoying the TT on Race C, really stable through the long turns and hairpins if a little behind on the straight.

@D_Dragline it was nice to see you on the track.
I didn't expect to see anyone I know in the Asian races at this time of day. Good racing, dude.
I had a late start at work today so got a couple of races in. The racing is always a lot better in the mornings here.

You are genuinely quick my friend and it was a privilege to be overtaken by you.

On a related note, I’ve finally found a car that agrees with me around that track. The Cayman is a wonderful match for the layout and allows a spud like me to turn consistent lap times. Prior to it I’ve tried the Slophy, Corvette, WRX, 458, 86, Huracan and Scirocco. I couldn’t make any of them competitive (although my qualy time was a one lap fluke in the Huracan)

I did one race B last night. It was a great one. I was close with an American for most of the race to the end. We swapped positions a couple times, but mostly I was right on his tail until he got a little ahead but nicked 0.5 sec at the chicane. I narrowly passed him again at the penalty zone and now he was right behind me. No contact, perfectly in sync.

Then a Brazilian came up in front of us. I used his draft to get a little gap on my pursuer yet unfortunately I was very close to the Brazilian for the final chicane. I was on the inside but still a bit behind so chose to brake a bit early, hoping I had put enough pressure on him to brake a little too late. He didn't and dove for the inside, good thing I broke a little early so he could pass in front with inches to spare.

His very aggressive turn in slowed us both down a bit and my pursuer saw chance to get a better exit. We ended up sprinting to the finish side by side, I barely managed to stay ahead with a 0.07 sec difference at the line.

Clean race bonus, great finish, no contact (the dirty stuff was happening at the front this time, plenty cursing after the race) so I figured, it's not going to get better than this nor even close and left it at the one race :)

I thought I was pretty quick until I got humbled in a late afternoon C race, here in the American region.
There were 18 drivers in the race, and I was one of only three A rated drivers.
The other 15 drivers were all A+.
I don't think I've ever seen that many aliens in a daily race. I blame the FIA hiatus.
Anyways, I got a thorough spanking. :embarrassed:

I have never enjoying using Alfas in this game, but they are wonderful if you know how to race them.

tldr version:
Short wheelbase cars can't be thrown into corners.

Must have just missed you, I tried one Race C in the same DR (top split) range, in the late afternoon/early evening as well. I need to do a better job understanding the strategy implications because I lost out that way, big time. And the Subaru, while good for my best QT, is not an ideal racer. Might try some other cars, but likely to bleed DR until I lose by A+ rating, oh well.

Have you watched Fraga's 2:25.3 lap in the Lancer. It's impressive. He makes it look pretty easy.
I'm gonna try some Q laps in that car.

No I only did two sessions of about a dozen laps. One in the Slophy to get acquainted with the track, and then a faster session in the WRX. That weird turn in the first connector to the two different tracks really takes some practice. The second one, too, but that first one, with the false double apex is sneaky hard. Have to square it off like Andretti, take it in deep to one point, turn, and then come straight out, ignoring the double apex of the curbs. At least that's how I played it. The second one is all about avoiding upsetting the car on the hump just before the apex as you turn in... really hard to do in practice. Staying wide helps, but it compromises your time through the whole turn.

I actually typically don't watch top-10 replays... at least not until I've worked out the best ~I~ can do with what I already know. Then I'll look for things I might have missed. But I find the monkey-see-monkey-do approach of that, and chasing ghosts to be both unrealistic and less effective for me, which I know is against the norm here.

Did a morning Race C. Finished 9th. CRB/SR back up.

1 player was glitched/jumping/at 1 point just disappeared. Other than that, good race.

ANyone else getting really laggy/jumpy/glitchy effects exiting buxelles and into the T9 left hander if there is a lot of cars near you? Seems like the PS4 cannot handle it.
Getting it everywhere, though the connection was really bad. So my PS4 is struggling? Fan isn't howling though????

Been having some fun with C, random car. AMG was ok, Viper was great and now in the Aston. Doesn't seem to mater much what I drive, now is that cos I'm brilliant or so bad it doesn't matter?

...and yeah, that Race C at the combined Kyoto layout... what a fun challenge of a track. Really have to string together a bunch of good sections to get that ultimate lap. Really a lesson in concentration. I like that place anyway and this is a fun new way to race the track.

Also, monitoring BladeGT to see where my QT stack up... it's amazing how consistent my performance is, relative to others. I'm nearly always at 70% faster than most A rated players, no matter the track or configuration. It's telling, and a useful mark to measure yourself.

Thing is, that isn't at all good enough, because at 40k+ DR, you get matched in the 'top' split in most Dailies, so you are up against the very best A+ guys and finishing in the top half of the grid is a trick.

I've been racing more today at Spa. It's fascinating to see the race quality deteriorate as more schools are out across the American time zones. From nearly squeeky clean earlier in the day to wreckfest after 5 pm. Matchmaking has plenty to choose from with race C keeping everyone in SR.S. I haven't seen anyone below DR.B (SR.S) and still B/S myself. I managed to get to the podium (3rd) once from the back, couple fastest laps here and there, yet overall, not enough passing opportunities at Spa and only 3 laps.

It would have been fun to have GR.3 at race C. I have no love for GR.4, is it still dominated by FF cars? Meganes in particular :yuck:

I had a pretty fun race at Kyoto.
I entered the top split race without a Q time, and it was decent. The last lap was when it got pretty fun.
I wasn't close to winning, but had a good time dueling with a couple of guys for 6th place, on the last lap.
We were all fairly aggressive, but nobody got punted. This is good racing. :)

Just had a couple pretty good races.

1st Race: "B"
I started 16th; finished 7th. I moved up a few spots on the 1st lap thanks to a couple people running wide at turn 9 and taking others with them. I made a clean pass on lap 2 coming out of Eau Rouge. For some reason, I can take that section very fast and seem to always catch up to people who are just ahead of me. I never brake, just lift a little bit after the right to make the left. BUT.....I had 1 penalty for running too far over to the left coming out of Eau Rouge. I didn't lift like I normally do to see if I could carry through it full speed. I can't, lol. No worries. When I had to slow down on the next lap, the car behind me was too far back to even get close to the slipstream. I've been using the Beetle for the "B" races. I really like it. It handles pretty well, has decent turn-in, and decent acceleration. On technical tracks, it's pretty good. For tracks with a long straight where you need a good amount of speed, it does lack a little bit in that department. But it's a pretty well-balanced car for what it is.

2nd Race: "A"
I started 12th, finished 2nd. ON the 1st lap, at the 1st corner, I passed 3 thanks to them banging each other and them running wide. On lap 2, at turn 2, a couple more ran wide and went into the gravel and up against the wall. That allowed a good many of us to go by. Later, in the esses, the person in front of me ran wide and I went by; that moved me up to 6th. On lap 4, I gained another position thanks to someone else running wide at turn 2. I held that until lap 5 when a penalty allowed me to catch and pass another one, putting me up to 5th. On lap 5, I passed another one that had run wide at turn 2 (seemed to be a pattern, there); up to 4th. On lap 6, I caught someone who'd had a penalty that allowed me to get close enough to catch the slipstream on the straight. I passed them clean; that put me up to 3rd. On lap 7, the 2nd place driver ran wide at turn 2. That got them a penalty. I got right up behind them, and was OK with staying there. I didn't want to battle and take a chance at losing my position on the podium. They ran a bit too wide coming out of the next to last corner (the one right after the penalty area). That got them another .5 second penalty, for a total of 1 second. I was close enough at the finish that it put me ahead after it calculated their penalty.

Been there earlier in the week. I was happy to finish 15th after a start from 10th. Every car in front of me were A+. I was able to put consistent lap trough out the race and my best lap of the race kinda match the position I finish, good enough.

You should give it a try. The track is good with lots of fast corners and good flow. Good variety of cars too. No FF domination, Megane Trophy (MR) is a popular choice (still less than 50% of the grid), really good in turning, good on tires but lack top speed. My weapon of choice is the Ferrari. good in turning, good on tires and good top speed.

The bumper to bumper downhill part

I had a much better time tonight in the single race I did. I started P13 again and expected the worst. But everything was clean from what I saw. I took my time and was patient with this race and it helped a bunch. My turns were better throughout the race, and had one major off track when I got throttle happy in the turn before the main straight on lap 2. I pit at lap 3 again and took tires which was the right call I feel. I did drop to the rear of the field in P18 (lobby had 19 but someone dropped out) after the stop and was waiting for others to pit, go off track, or mess up a hairpin turn. All 3 happened and I managed to get to P12 due to the misfortune of others. The last 2 laps I was 4 seconds behind P8-P11 who were all fighting. I’m thinking something is going to happen because they were all so close together. They all race clean with no major incidents, and they all were congratulating each other in the post-race chat. I do manage to close the gap to .8 seconds. If I had another lap I might have been in the mix. Thanks to a penalty for someone not pitting, I come home in P11.

Honestly, I’m pleased with my effort. This combo is fun, but I still had some trouble with my lines. I couldn’t get the esses down and had moment where I hit the kerb wrong and almost lost control. The problems with the esses probably factored into me not being in that 4-way battle in front of me. I also went deep a few times and that slowed me down through the race.

I link this experience back to the Gr.1 at St. Croix a few months ago. I didn’t want to participate but had a good time in the end. It’s good to get out of my “comfort zone” with the Daily races, it helps improve my skills. I won’t so Spa this week so no more racing for me. I do need to play some more Tales of Arise to get my JRPG fix in for the week. Back at it next week for the next set of races.

Had some good clean lobbies at SPA this afternoon. After 60 races I was a missle for the first time at the last corner and t-boned a guy because I was late on the brake. I felt horrible and stopped so he didn't lose his spot on the last lap. I think he knew it was unintentional though. Other than that it was good. Had a race lap at 17.5 and got my quali down to 16.7. Managed a couple podiums if my slot was in the top split. Want to try race C but I'm nowhere near comfortable yet.

In other news.... I started the practice session thread. If interested check it out. I'll friend request those who spoke up in this thread soon.

I did 2 races there the other day, yet fell into a matchmaking no man's land. No one to race, driving with growing gap in front and behind me. Maybe I'll give it another go tomorrow, there were a lot of Trophies in those 2 races.

My mistake was to pit early and clicking the wrong thing changing tires in lap one lol. Hence driving by myself. The front did get rid of the pit stop early (without changing tires I assume) yet the back moved on and stayed out of range after they pitted (in front and behind). Those were 2 lonely races!

Pretty happy with the racing tonight given how rough of a time it was yesterday.

Jumping to Race C was like escaping hell, but its not like I wasn't miscreant the entire time in B. Got taken out few times and saw red for about 3 races or so - improved my quali time in the anger but didn't amount to anything - except maybe a special cameo in IOTW if my luck is bad enough. Shoddy driving in other places.

Whatever. Didn't really want to be there. Cool three wide moment, though:

Kyoto was a different beast. Killed a guy by trying to not get in the pits & I gained the wisdom of Spinoza driving the 4C. Some other driver argued the legality of their 52-blocks technique in motorsport, which for some reason, was still described as blocking. Overall the racing felt far less desperate, despite the issues that came along the way. Great combo.

Is this really how few people are playing right now? As a B ranked player I'm in top split for Race B?

View attachment 1085006
Coincides with back-to-school maybe. Also my guess is many DR A/A+ are taking a FIA break, stopped playing/already thinking about the next game or are using alts.

Sucks for us on the lower end of these grids. But it sucks more to be at the top with nothing to gain.

Game usually evens it out, next race you get pole or something. That's been my experience lately.

Too bad I didn't have time for another race. My ego could've used running away from a bunch of C & D ranked drivers.
