Same here. It's just an awkward entry that I can get it right on some of the time. I know that's where I'm losing all my time for setting a good qualifying time this week.
If anyone has any tips on how to attack these corners I'm all ears.

I was cursed this morning. Just cursed. Dirty lobbies and an uncooperative wheel.
Starting race B mid pack. But the first attempt should have been a warning. The person in P3 didn't move until the green flag. I came upon the pile at the right time but had to go to the grass to avoid them all. Up to P4 into turn one. But the blob was right behind. Cue divebombs and general pusing from about 1 cars trying to get to the apex. I of course was then knocked onto the grass and the car decided to audition for Dancing on Ice. DFL. Fought my way back to 9th only thanks to the dirtiness of the lobby. I go again in the Lambo and set a quicker time. It's good but that bloody chicane eats it for breakfast. Racewise I had again moved forwards due to dirtiness around me. I was having a good race with a Luxembourgian in a Beetle. We past two in the barrier. However the next lap they seemingly caught us. I passed the Beetle down the main straight. However into the first chicane I was tapped from behind and was spun. I do not know if this was the Beetle or the Vantage catching us both and playing snooker. I lost in all of it. Especially after I recovered I was hit into the next hairpin too. Thankfully they let me back past out of the last corner, so full kudos to them.
Decided it was time to try Fuji. Yup worked forward for the car to not turn into GR Supra and around it went. This put me into the path of a dirty German. They twiched coming out of TGR and I went alongside. So out comes the sideswipe. They get a taste of their own medicine later on as they are spinning in smoke on the grass out of the same corner a few laps later. I claim a few more positions but the damage had be done. What was a promising race on one of my better tracks was a knightmare. Back to race B then.
Back in the Supra once again early race promise was ruined. My own fault this time as I spin it coming out of the tight hairpin. Bloody car!
I put in a few more laps in Q and go faster by 1.2 seconds. Hopefully this may put me clear of some of the chaos as I start P5 now. Yeah... No. Again punted and I drop places to the back. I catch a Frenchman in a Vette. He's cautious into the final corner so I go around the outside. He runs me off on the exit. I keep her straight and snap. I have been barged too many times today. I catch up just before the tight hairpin and send them to meet Barry. I do not feel proud but I do feel better (slightly). Again thanks to other dirtiness in the race I make it up to P9 before the end.

Race B seems to call me more than the other 2 but boy is it a battleground.

To alleviate your pain go to "dirty" lobbies at night! Most use fully modified gr. 3 bug. Great to rid frustration.

The only tip I can give is focusing on smooth inputs with the pedals and steering wheel (or pad), anything brutal will unsettle the car and make you oversteer on exit.

Try to maintain a tiny bit of throttle while straightening your line in the middle of the chicane and slowly accelerate once you're sure you can make the last right turn without going wide. In other words, be patient !

Also, keep a higher gear if that helps you keep the car under control (4th in the Supra), you can still shift down when you're ready to accelerate at the end if you slowed down too much.

The trap is thinking you can keep more speed on entry than what the car can actually do. It's a slow corner set !!

I haven't had much chance to race over the last few months but I've actually got some time this week (Thanks Santa!) and i'm loving race C, I never thought I would say that about group 1! had some good races on both my main and NA account (and i think i saw @ILLEAGLE_34 out there)

I'm enjoying time trialling B as well, though I don't fancy the race 🙂

Yeah that was me out there, hopefully I didn’t make a fool of myself lol. I had some good races and a few I’d like to forget. Curious what your NA account name is? But if you want to keep it private I get that, but say what up if you see me in a lobby. 🍻

If anyone has any tips on how to attack these corners I'm all ears.

The deed is done. 200 wins before the end of the year has been achieved.

Only did 5 sessions today because I had an appointment for a coronavirus vaccine shot (it was a booster shot) so despite having my left arm feeling like cement, I was able to convert 3 of those 5 sessions into a win with the 12:10 session being my last for today and the race where I scored my 200th win.

I will say that trying to get my 200th win wasn't easy as while in the 12:10 session I managed to score a pole but I was under the threat of an AMG GT3 user which pestered me throughout the race and managed to pass me around lap 3 then at lap 5, I pulled what's probably my favorite move of the year and it also felt like the summarization of my late bloomer Sport Mode career in this one as I only became a full time Sport Mode user for this year as in those 3 years before this year, I was a part timer due to a bad ISP and not being able sub to PS Plus that much until now.

With that move it scored my 200th win. Suffice to say I was happy to reach that amount of wins that I never thought I would achieve.

Great achievement, congratulations.

I'm wondering though, about that move: despite the beauty and the "cheekiness" of it, is it legal ? Are you allowed to make some many changes of lines in the offense ? I know in defense it's not.

Personally, i would hate having to defend against something like this lol, but once again I genuinely don't know if it's genius, OKish or just wrong.

my NA alt is top-turkey7. You were all good, came out f the pits just in front of me, kept to the pit line, kept the first corner and disappeared into the distance!

Nothing wrong with that move at all.

Also GTBlade are you o.k?

3 mins 7 was my time last week, not this week at Fuji. I have to feel for the 10.7% slower than me in this case.

I spent a few laps on Daily C and got my quali to a 3:18.... I thought that was decent until I looked at the board. Yikes I am so far off the pace.
Yup, I hear you on that one. I was able to get 3:11, but was still disappointed because that is still like 5-8 seconds off pace, but it's a difficult track and the cars are more difficult to perfect as well.

What times are you guys running?

In my opinion, the car making the pass attempt (offense) can try as many lines as they want. There is always a chance that they approach a corner from the wrong line & have to slow down more than the defender & ruin their own chance to pass. I think the "defense dance" says more about the mindset of the driver defending more than the overtaking driver. The defender is so desperate to maintain the position (remember, it's just a video game) that they risk losing the spot. I had an incident earlier in the year at the same track, but going in the normal direction.

Next week's races are posted.

I'm at a 1:34.2XX so far @NoStopN. It's about .5 seconds off of my K-score time. I did set that in the Toyota FT-1, but I want to use the Vantage in the race. The FT-1 feels too squirrely for me to drive as I don't have many laps with it anywhere. I'll see what I can do with both and go from there.

Pretty much same here, 1:34.3 in the FT-1.

Edit: and my K-speed time is 1:33.2...

Hey Strangers. Haven't hit any dailies as of late after alot of thought about my rig and changing some things. Plus two weeks of brake pedal testing to find more pace after I did ok in the Manu series.

Was going to do Race B this week but I've been god awful sick and lucky it's not covid. Figures I barely leave the house as it is but take the cats to the vet and boom. Instant sick and missed Christmas to boot.

Did some practice on race B but lack the focus so I'll probably pass and start practicing next weeks C. I'm all over DT with GR3. Should be fun!

As usual if I'm on your friends list I'll have a lobby open to run laps. Feel free to jump in.

Got 3 wins in the Beetle today. 2nd win started P2, leader in pink Supra was pushing it the whole race, but I could tell he was going to make a mistake. He made a mistake into the chicane and luckily I was close enough to capitalize. Full credit to him that he did not ram me off. He kept me humble the whole way and was on my tail until the end. 3rd race, start P3, go up to P2. Same guy leading in the pink Supra from previous race. An Atenza was crazy fast the whole race and chasing me down. What looked like a battle for P2 became a battle for P1 when the leader binned it in the chicane same as before. Was able to hold off the Atenza until the end. Very happy overall. And got my quali down to 1:33.7 which shall make tomorrow’s races interesting.

I've got a noobie question: I've been racing in the B race. My Q time puts me near the back of the pack. After 3 races, each time either keeping my position or bettering it 1 or 2 places, my DR keeps going down, from mid B to upper C. If this keeps going, I'll be back to D in no time. Why does this happen?

I’m not entirely sure but I believe the system tries to match you where you are competitive. So if you keep finishing near the back your DR will go down so that you are eventually matched in lobbies where you are competitive.

Thanks, I have some real problems navigating the B track, so that makes sense. Maybe I'll just lay off the races until next week.

You're not finishing high enough to gain DR. Gaining/keeping/losing places is irrelevant; your finish position is all that matters.

Rule of thumb: Beat more people than beat you (finish top half) and you gain DR, get beaten by more people than you beat (finish bottom half) and you lose DR.

Actual mechanism: You gain DR off people you beat as a proportion of the difference between your DR rating, and you lose it to people who beat you as a proportion of the difference beween your DR rating. That means you lose less to players with a higher DR score who finish ahead of you, and gain more from them if you finish ahead of them... and gain less from lower DR score players if you finish ahead of them but lose more to them if they finish ahead of you.

The DR goes down due to a complicated algorithm. Most of us just go with the idea that if you finish in the upper half of the finishing order, you should gain DR. If you finish in the lower half, DR will likely go down. That's not always the case, but it is meant to match you to people who are at a similar skill level. The basic idea is: you should get better at driving & will be moving up to face tougher competition. Just focus on your driving & you'll get there. Don't worry about revenge if someone punts you. Don't worry about quitting if you spin yourself. All of this (especially practice & qualifying sessions) will teach you more about multiple different cars & tracks, as well as your own level of car control.

Those replies make sense to me. Thanks very much. I've really gotten a lot from this board!

Another question: if I know I'm doing poorly on this course, does it make sense to continue? I guess if I do, eventually my rating will drop to where I'm competitive on the course. I fairly quickly went from D to C to B due to the race on Big Willow, a track I'm more familiar and comfortable with. But I know I need to learn how to adapt to many different courses. Maybe I shouldn't worry about ratings so much.

Well that was way more complex than I thought haha. But in my experience it definitely works. I am too guilty of rage quitting too often though.

Keep trying to get you qualifying time down. Watch lap guides to know your braking points. Try different cars to see which suits you best. What’s your currently quali time? Also, I feel like I saw you in the Big Willow races last week haha. I can relate, I got my rating up from D to B there also

Thank you for the video example. Whenever this happened to me, I was wondering, if I'm at fault. But I never felt bad about it, because the other driver moved his car into mine, which is extraordinarily stupid if the one in front is something like the Supra, while we're in a corvette, Mustang, Veyron (the big fellas).
...
I'm not familiar with the rule, but I'm sure you're right, because when I watch real races (even Formula 1) the offense one is often switching sides/lines very often. It's quite inevitable to do so, especially if one cares to not punt the one in front.
....last race I won with the mustang smile with 8 seconds gap.
the race before, I was in 'ze' BMW Z4 and was 1.5 sec faster each lap. finished 8th. I got punted quite often, the ghosting is not that good, on this track.
Ah, and my first complaint about PD:
Race C - what sense does it make, to be able to choose the nice Sauber C9 or Nissan R92, if they cut their power to 83%? I felt like an old lady, slowly driving to a grocery store, while sportscars pass me by, hunking their horn, showing me middle fingers. I mean these cars are nostalgic and handlingwise a challenge, but they were/are/will never slow at all.

Maybe, you shouldn't worry about ratings so much. ;-)
Those worries are often followed by bad behaviour on the track.
