I started with a G29 in June of last year. Had the Fanatec setup since July or August. It's been constant learning and adjusting since then. I'm a bit new to the sim world.
I'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon (I bought my G29 to last and it's done that) but how different would you say the new set is VS the G29?

That was my thought at first but was fortunate enough to upgrade incase I want to go PC base in the future.

As for difference it's night and day. Adjustability alone is worth it. The fidelity and feeling in the wheel is amazing compared to gear or belt driven. It's probably overkill for GTS but I'm damn happy with it and can dial in a pretty realistic experience.

For pedals it's no comparison. Consistancy alone was worth it although the learning curve has been steep. It's also pretty damn neat we can get this type of gear on a consumer level. I've had some cool cars but this is probably the coolest "toy" I've owned and have put just about 100k miles on it so far.

Nice! What size TV?
Thanks. My wife is very understanding. Lol.

It's 55"

Well well, Race C next week (2 laps, enough fuel, hard tires) could be my ticket to A rating for the first time in my GTS career.. haha who am i kidding :)
I tried 3 different cars , Viper, Toyota 86 and the GTR. The Viper seems to be the slower one, or i have to drive it to hard to keep up, the 86 is fun to drive, slippery but fun, i did a 7:19 in the GTR (fine for me) it's stable and the top speed seems good and right now that would be my choice.

Is there a usual meta among the GR4 cars i should try or is it fairly level on this track.

Try the Genesis as well, it's pretty rapid. Maybe try the FF cars as well for lap time, but they will probably fade due to tyre wear.

It's been so long since the classic 'Ring. I think over a year. We've had a couple of Gr3 N24 races since, but I don't care for the 'GP' section of the track.
I think this is one of those situations where you might pick a car for Q and one for race.
I found the Viper good for qualifying but I like the WRX for the race due to stability. Bound to be more jockeying than a dance floor on a Saturday night.
I'm running a 7.20 with Viper and 7.25 with WRX... the biggest factor is a clean race though and avoiding the 'toxic', 'punisher' type drivers! Also I think WRX v good on tyre wear

Hi, people
I´m here to say goodbye for a long time
Due to financial problems I will sell my PS4 next week
Don´t know if back someday
It was a pleasure race with you

Never slow down, guys

Bye
That really sucks, man.
Life is full of ups and downs. I'm sure things will be looking up for you in no time.
Good luck to you. :)

Sounds like qualifying will be a premium this upcoming week.

At least when you come back, you have the option to upgrade to a PS5 & GT7.

I don't think so, unfortunately it seems.as if it makes very little difference in just 2 laps
I think it'll depend on the lobby which cars are meta. "B" and below. Probably won't matter as track familiarity and some luck will play the biggest factor. "A" and above. Something with top speed and decent enough tire wear. My guess is the Viper and Corvette will be one of the top cars

I did 2 DTS races, same as yesterday. First race trailing behind all race, A+/A lobby. I made up a few spots from people quitting and crashing. Not much of a race, just running laps.

Second race had no A+, all A. And same as yesterday, more messy. But this time I got to race two other clean drivers. I couldn't get in the rhythm though, my best lap in that race was only 1:39.0 while last week I could till get below 1:38. I finished last of our little 3 way race, not surprising since I pitted 2 laps earlier than them, my softs were falling apart.

Thanks to a lot of SR in race C I never fell out of the top split rooms. Only one race with a brake checker brought me down to 92 SR, back to 99 next race. So my DR has never been this steady for a whole week, between 35.5K and 36.9K ending at 35.7K. Too bad that numbers means boring races. My pace can't keep up with the rooms I get in, my DR won't go down since I refuse to crash and quit

Anyway my mind was already at the Nordschleife. I did a couple races against the AI to try out the Huracan and RC F. Grid start, 20th place, can't set the tire wear above 3 unfortunately. (Doubt that it matters, I had about 0 tire wear after 2 laps with x3) The AI on professional is so horribly slow. I had bopped my car, making them slower than stock, but still in first halfway through the first lap. I guess I can try racing GR.3 AI. The problem is they're over braking for every corner and in places that don't need any braking.

It's a bit of an adjustment from GR.3 on medium tires to Gr.4 understeer on hard tires. Plus the Huracan still hates kerbs, probably not a good idea to use that in a race. I was faster in the Lexus anyway, despite still going off a couple times, 7:19 lap vs 7:22. The physics are probably different tomorrow, but it seems to be a 15 minute race. Long wait between races, or as I call it, more time to do stuff in between races, thus more time to do more races!

Best I can do so it's time to move on to Green Hell. Lost .15 in S1 and beat my K target by .6. Had an optimum in the 34's but as usual couldn't piece it together.

All the work on my brake pedal and new technique seems to be paying off. I was struggling to get into the 35's when this was a previous event. For a bit I thought I was chasing an OCD related dragon with all the changes but the clock doesn't lie and I'm pretty stoked to see such an improvement.

Now I can work on bettering my skill and racecraft for GT7.

That is super quick! I am jealous.

I've had a weird week pace-wise. In races I've been mixing it at the front all week. Several wins, mostly top 5 finishes in top split. Race times typically just under 20 minutes.

However my qualy time is only a 1:35.7xx which I set on Tuesday. I have been unable to improve it. My optimal is only a 1:35.4. I just don't know how anyone gets around the track that fast.

F-I-N-A-L-L-Y got my Euro act to A. Although its by the skin of my teeth now. I swear, high "B" lobbies are a blood bath. European servers tend to be the worst!! So many dive bombs it's unbelievable. I literally got to "A' by just giving in and letting the spaniards have their stupid positions. It was slow going today on my way up from 28K, but consistency finally paid off over 4 hours and I got there. Now I'm just debating on wether or not to get one more DTS race in before the rotation change and after all the commies' go to bed.

Created a new alt. Now I have an Oceanic acct! PSN name is G-mateday. Feel free to take me out if you see me out there!!! Now its time to learn the Green Hell once and for all!!

Thanks but don't be jealous. That's a damn good race pace. I busted my hump to get there and probably have more laps on that track than any other. Lol

Speaking Supra BB on 0 and applies in general.

Sector 1 and the uphill esses make or break the lap for me. I'm always hit or miss between 32.0 - 32.4 and it angers me. It's not about speed carried (well a little bit) but getting the car slowed down quick enough to accelerate right at the apexes of all the turns. Exit out of T2 and T4 are paramount.

The uphill esses are make or break for the rest of the lap. Not hitting the first turn in smooth and able to accelerate hard bleeds off .3 every time.

Another thing that really helped was bumping up the controller sensitivity setting. Even with a wheel it makes a difference although some argue it doesn't. I was consistent mid 35's until I bumped it up to help my aging reflexes. Lol

Oh... and I think I need to overlap my inputs a bit more. I see so many top 10 replays with alot of overlap and turning under full braking but it feels so unrealistic to me.

Gotcha. I gotta decide if I wanna by the V3’s. I have my now old school CSL elite load cell dialed in. But I know the V3’s are better. I keep waiting to see if Fanatec is gonna come out with a podium level set of pedals. I feel like they have to be working in something.

That and a CSW DD wheel with say….12nm of torque would be good!!! I’d buy both of those right up!!

You would think so. The v3 set is starting to be a bit dated. I like mine but I'm lusting over a set of HV sprints and a drive hub then I can use them on PC and console if I go PC and do I racing.

I think the CSL is limited at 8 with the booster. Honestly enough. I dont think I use over 10.

I would buy some “outside of ecosystem” pedals in a minute, but there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of information on how well they work in Gran Turismo. Plus I think PD has some work to do in their own throttle/brake programming to make a top tier set of pedals even worth it

I've been reading what I can find and think they might be ok. I'm real close to pulling the trigger on them and keeping the v3's for back up or selling them to offset cost.

Don't know if I would hold my breathe on PD going linear considering pads and travel based brake pedals being so common place. A simple option setting would be awesome bit don't think it will happen.

Regardless the sprints are pretty neat and I like that they are separate. It will solve the geometry issues I experience.

I think you should be the guinea pig and let us know how it goes!!
Lol. I gotta sell my F1 wheel and a couple other things to fund the purchase. Not much money left in the toy fund right now. Drive hubs are on backorder too. If I had the spare change they would be on the way already.

First C was civil. Second was already argy-bargy.
From the two races I have been in the M4 seems to be doing good, in the hands of the right drivers. Some M4's are roadblocks though, if they don't get the exit right.
Watch out for people in the Toyota 86. The ones I met has known they where sitting ducks on the straight so would do anything to get ahead of you, including pushing you wide or dive bomb you.
I ran the first race in the Lexus, and that was a rather nice ride.
Second race I went for the Mustang. I made two mistakes so I went p6 - p8. All my fault.
A guy in a 86 made an audition for IOTW too.

All and all, the ring is the ring. Drive the track instead of fight your opponent and you will do well.
