Team up... just imagine a back and forth between Bristolian and Black Country!
It would break the internet.

Struggling with seaside 2 today. Learning a track from scratch is always hard but feel like I’ve hit a plateau already at a rather pedestrian 1.48.6. All the track guides are with FF cars and I really can’t stand how they feel with the understeer. I’m liking the 458 and viper. The viper feels the nicest to me but I’m a bit quicker with the 458. Any tips for BB on either of these cars for this track?

BB is typically just a preference based on driving style but my personal preference for those 2 cars is -2 on the 458 and +2 for the Viper.

I know this has nothing to do with GT Sport, but it does threaten the future of gaming and society as we know it

It's the best explanation I've found so far, best documentary and investigative journalism in years.

Please don't fall for the NFT push that's currently happening in gaming and stay well away from cryptocurrencies. My worst fear is PD jumping on the NFT bandwagon as more and more publishers seem to be pushing this crap. The economic downfall from the pandemic is child's play compared to the potential damage that is brewing here.

I have a weak spot for GR2 and I have a weak spot for Suzuka.

So with a nice Q lap i entered and had a great race that admittedly got a bit rough among the drivers, including me. But no murders so i guess it's more a question of getting heated with these fast cars and having to react faster than usual.

Am I supposed to stay on mediums for 5 or 6 laps? And is it a viable strategy to start slow on hards?

I'm thinking that starting slow could save me from having to fight with to many cars in the first laps and then be fast with a lighter car later when the field is spread out and people have left depressed over fatal mistakes..

Have you tried the scirocco? It is by far the most chuckable FF. I had BB all the way forward on the 458 and still I slide it too much. I just can't get it to work for me.

I did 1 Race C this morning. Started 3rd/finished 4th.

Started on RH for 3 laps. Worked for me. Relatively clean considering it was mixed DR A+ to DR D. Managed to repair DR & SR from quitting a race last week. Made an unintentional suicide pass on the 2nd part of Degner as the car in front went too deep. Very lucky to avoid that. :scared:

I’ve been going 4H 6M. I start slow banking on people taking other people out. Then I end with mediums and less fuel. Usually let’s me make some easy passes at the end on people either on more worn mediums or hards

When I start top 5 i tend to start on the softer tire and be fast right away. Starting with the hard, I'm afraid of being punted by people on soft behind me in the first lap.

Am I the only one that prefers race A most of the time ? I’m not fond of always racing GT4 and GT3 cars. I prefer street cars, makes up for better races.

Race A is fun this week, the TVR is a handful even on Sports Mediums.

I hope PD puts more emphasis on street cars now that the whole thing with the FIA seems to be over.

Feels good to get back on track after 2 weeks off. I set a time of 1:50.381 as of now for Suzuka with an optimal time of 1:50 flat. If I can get the transition from the esses to the Dunlop curve (turn 7) correct, that's the time I need for the most part. Back at it tomorrow to see if I can gain those few tenths of a second to hit my optimal.

I'm pleased somebody else said it. I've had immense fun on Race A these past few weeks.

Most of the cars really demand solid practice before going into races (clearly a trick missed by a lot of drivers out there), due to each car/tyre/track combo presenting (mostly) new challenges.

I love racing Groups 2 thru 4 don't get me wrong, but I get such dismay every time I see the same half dozen cars in the leaderboards when the game has several hundred!

Anyway, Race A - TVR Tuscan.... Wheeeeeee!

What annoys me with race A (and makes me avoid it) are three things primarily:

1) You’re forced to borrow a car, which makes absolutely no sense at all. We all have garages, nice liveries to be used, kilometres to be counted. Come on, PD! Fix this.

2) It often features the same relatively slow road cars. There’s a ton of fast road cars never ever featured in race A. For what reason? Who knows?

3) Why only 12 players? Again, doesn’t make much sense at all.

The answer to question 1 and 3 is that it's seen as the "entry to E-racing race" so that complete beginners with a limited garage can race whatever is the car to race and be "competitive".

Number 2 is a good point. They really should vary the car choices, and maybe they should make more open variety, and maybe less one-make Race A's. Like a USA challenge of the Corvette, Mustang, Viper, Charger, one week old, one week new. Or an EV race, Taycan vs Tesla. Or an open class race so N300 with stock settings.

It is a shame you can't use your own liveries though. I really wish that were the case!

First Gr.4 race of the night and frozen garage screen. Want to see how the Mustang and Cayman will do. I’ll do a race C in the RC F soon after.

Edit: Booted out of Race A. Done for the night. Hope this doesn’t happen Saturday.

Totally with you with those points, especially the first one. I love racking up miles and wins on my own cars. They could atleast give the choice of a provided car ou garage car (locked with stock settings of course)

I would like longer races like race C but with street cars too. With a bigger player base at launch, I think that we could see more variety in the daily races.

With that said, I might jump in to race B or C later this week.

You're definitely not the only one. ;)

Daily A doesn't get talked about very much in here, hence why I don't often add to the discussion.

For me, it's like I don't have a choice. I must do Daily A. It's a habit. I'm closing in on 16,000 races completed, almost 3,000 wins, and should have enough miles soon to have driven to the Moon. 99.9% Daily A - I spend very little time doing anything else at all in the whole of the game.

And people expect to see me. Sometimes I feel like I'm babysitting, sometimes like I'm the referee, and every once in a while like Judge Dredd... but they're the "crew" and you've become part of that in the last 6 months or so. I enjoy racing against you.

Man, the Tuscan is absolutely ridiculous and totally badass! Tricky course, low weight, not enough tire, and way too much power. Just how I like it. It's got a real sweet spot that is actually quite sublime.

I call you guys and girls the Race A All Stars. I'll often rush to do an early Monday morning race and expect to see the All Stars. Because I know it's some of the best racing I can get. 👍

That's true. I always know where to find you between about 10:30 and 3:30 PST. :D
I usually wait until then to enter races.

*I always have a good chuckle when the race B & C elitists refer to A as a beginners race.
It's usually my least favorite as there are never more than 11 people to over take per race :P

Do those road to GT7 races have 24 entries per race like FIA? I hope so. I'll be there on Saturday!

Hmm: there’s one particular regulation that stands out: tuning is enabled.
That's going to be messy :/

I quickly noticed that we are a small steady group in A. Been racing online since I got my T300 and cockpit in december, got back into sim racing after a 8 year hiatus and I’m having great fun with you @BenRod and all the other clean regulars (Steelydan, JonT and company)

The answer to question 1 and 3 would perhaps make a little bit of sense in the very, very beginning of the game, even if I’d still be against it. But really, the cars featured in daily A cost peanuts and pretty much all of us have those cars in our garages. For the few that don’t and somehow lack the little money required — give us at least the opportunity to choose the set car from the garage if we have it and let the ones missing it borrow the car(s). It’s unfathomable how that hasn’t changed.

As far as the grid size goes and daily A somehow supposedly being the preferred race of beginners, wouldn’t it actually be better with a larger grid? Usually that means an even bigger spread of skill, depending on time and participation. Could definitely do with 16 as well as 20 to be honest. Same goes for B.

Definitely. Mentioned your first point above in my response to MidnightRun85 as well. At least give us the choice. There really can’t be many missing or lacking the funds to buy daily A cars. Could probably count them with a couple of hands.

As for car selection, I made a complaining post about that a few months ago, taking the liberty to quote myself:
Here’s a list of 82 rarely seen (some never, I believe) cars that could make the often drab race A interesting (and OBVIOUSLY allow garage cars, don’t force us to borrow them, only allow it for the very few players lacking certain cars):

Apologies if there’s a couple that have already been featured but I’m pretty sure that if they have it was a long, long time ago and they’re overdue for a return presence. I do remember the RCZ Road Car for example but that was 2018 or so. Some additions could probably be made but without spending way too many hours on this, this is a list I came up with to spice up race A.

I watched tidgney’s guide and just saw him repeatedly getting rammed by a few drivers even in his top splits. Down at mid B level pleb land it’s pretty much like that with every driver and I just thought, nope. Can’t be bothered with that and have no desire to race really. Which is a shame. Hopefully gt7 has done something to address this.

What the ##$##$$ is wrong with sport mode players? Ive avoided sport mode for alot of reasons but came back to it a few days ago. My dr went from 12k to 20k in a couple of days/races. For the most part clean racing but today in race B ive been punted off so many times that ive ragequitted and my dr is down to 16k now because of it.

How in the actual #### do people get to keep their S rating in sr when they drive like this???

For an esports mode this is utterly broken. The penalties are even gone for punting. Same guy who punted me off last race won the next. Still rated as B/S. This is ridiculous.
You've always had the crash kiddies and the clean racers. It's not the sport mode players that changed, it's PD that gave up.

The penalties are turned off and first also the SR deductions were turned off. So everyone ended up in SR.S which turned into a big mess. Thus a lot of clean drivers left the game or retreated into lobbies to get away from getting punted every race.

PD re-instated SR deductions for front to back contact in a draconian way. -10 SR when you touch a bumper depending on whether your DR is higher than the car in front of you. Context doesn't matter, punt, accidental touch without consequences, brake check, car crashing in front of you, bad track re-entry, car reset on top of you, false start stalled car in front of you, it's all the same -10 SR.

Since higher DR is more likely to get -10 SR deductions in mixed races, more and more DR resets started happening. So now DR is mostly random as well. Last week I had many races at Sarthe where half the room was recovering from a DR reset (max 9 SR to gain, 1 touch is -10 SR, thus negative for the race), C/S and B/S drivers with 3:17 qualy times doing 3:19 laps in race. Which just leads to more accidental contact since the skill spread is extremely high now DR is just as meaningless for matching as SR. Plus you can't earn DR when there are A+ speed drivers in the room masked as DR.B.

So yep, it's utterly broken. Law of the jungle with DR and SR being meaningless. Matchmaking relies on SR and DR, thus grids might as well be drawn from a hat.

There are still penalties, for when you avoid a car (ignoring track limits) or get rammed into a wall (1.5 sec) :banghead:

It's an interesting point, because part of the appeal of Race A (a lot of the time) is that they genuinely throw up interesting, if not necessarily awe-inspiring, car choices.

This has the double treat of giving us a refreshing race experience AND avoiding the predictability of the higher lobby skill level in the Gr.3 & 4, using cars that the drivers all know like the back of their hands.

I've had some really tight races in this week's TVR despite being A's vs A+'s at the front of the grid, and I'm only 35k DR.

What annoys me with race A (and makes me avoid it) are three things primarily:

Dont forget the 3 laps sprint race. Wish they put more laps on them. There is plenty of time to do so.

I'm a big fan of Race A as well. Past few weeks I spent more time on Race C which I also like a lot. But 75% of my wins come from Race A.

When I cue for Race A during weekend my kids ask if @BenRod is there!
