This. Even in A rooms, there can be 1 second from P3 to P14. Yesterday in Race B I was 11th with a 2.03.6, there were 4 guys ahead of me on 2.03.5. Every tenth counts so now I need to tweak my set up for every car on every track and on every tyre? Complete waste of my time. This is what lobbies or FIA events are for, dailies should first and foremost be about pic up and play.

Nightmare.
Even if they do make us tune our cars for every daily race, which I would not be happy with, I am still gonna be looking forward to having a bunch of new solo activities to do.
I'm sure there will be some things about the new game that appeals to you.

I’ll be honest, not sure this game is for me lol. I have very little interest in any single player stuff. I just want to have proper clean races against other humans. The grinding of the credits, crap AI, bodykits, car collecting, not fussed. Now I see they’ve botched online with the tuning I think I’d rather stick with sport and probably would if it wasn’t the case that everyone will move to 7.
Just to add that supergt has done the first daily and race a and b are available and both are open tuning with weight and ‘PP’ limits. And you can’t see what other peoples ‘PP’ is so won’t know if they have higher tuned cars or not.

Excuse me for asking but what DR class do you drive in? The problem with META is more and more.dominant the further up the ranks you climb. In A+ there's only tenths separating the drivers so they have to choose the META to be a part of the race at all.
You're absolutely right, but I don't count myself among the A+ drivers, I know I'm miles away from that. I "difficulty" got my points back this week that I lost last week. I have also had a few setbacks in my relatively short time. So I'm not even an A driver.
But maybe I'll find enough time today to achieve my goal of becoming an A driver before GT7 starts.
In the area where I currently drive, a META is certainly helpful, but can be beaten by a "better" driver in a weaker car. If someone drives my META in this class and doesn't optimize it in terms of setup, another car with a really good setup can definitely be faster.
That's what I wanted to express.

I think the A races with road cars open to tuning and setups could actually really be fun. I just hope there is at least one race in B or C that has the old method of BoP activated and no setups allowed.

THat's just great, really great. They are totally walking away from the "middle aged guy with demanding job/kids/wife who wants to race online market. May be time to move to iRacing.

You did alright in the META today, from what I saw (including a win!) 👍

I kind of hope some do move on. There's so many options now.

If another game offers what you want and GT doesn't, why spend so much energy hoping GT will change? So much easier to just move to something suited to you.

Now that online racing isn't the only focus of GT, maybe the more serious racers go to iRacing and rFactor2. I believe that will clean things up quite a bit.

I would consider it but a whole gaming pc just isn’t an option. Not to mention the logistics of where to put it and the wheel etc. I can only do console. And the whole thing was to not have to mess with tuning and I don’t think iracing is going to offer that.

Smile thanks.. but not fastest Lap, i Gott some small Fails.

But... right Way for me.

This. I disagree with "the more serious racers" ... i am not that serious, THAT's why GTS worked for me. By adding tuning it gets more serious, it's arse backwards.

If we want to deep dive into tuning etc there's ACC, IRacing etc, GTS offered a viable alternative without the bedlam of forza. If GTS does bog me down with tunes though, i am better off with iracing as they have a proper penalty system and behavior is far better.

You know i've been playing GT Sport for about a year, started May 26th. I wonder if I should switch to gt7 cause if everyone likes that then GT Sport will die and then what would be the point of having it up? So far i've finished almost 40 races, still 1 win.

The servers aren't doing well today, a lot of pre-downloads I guess? One entire room crash just before the race starts, a lock up while waiting for other players and another disconnect for no reason. The game is falling apart today :/

Yeah I've noticed since I signed up for PS Plus a month ago, the lobbies sometimes knocks me offline or I'll be doing a daily race and I see next to the players username the wi-fi bands(signals) turn yellow, orange or red meaning that the network is going. If it's going to keep doing this I may as well get gt7 and totally switch cause I'm wasting time.

Watching Super GT in online dailies, only 3 people in the room, he’s having to tune and buy parts after each race to make up for clear deficiencies compared to other cars.

I guess it's only fitting that on my way out the door of GTS I get called dirty one more time...

His late move was his fault. People like that scream "dirty" about other drivers, yet when they do it, they say it's "just racing" & they're better. No, you just have poor sportsmanship. Beat me by being better at driving, not crashing everyone else.
They will shut sport soon enough though.
Get the (hopefully) easy wins while you can.

When I started playing Sport, I decided to try to tune my Gr. 3 & 4 favorites to be better at dailies. Then I noticed the settings were locked to the BoP. That ended my tuning real quick. Maybe now we won't have to worry about what the META for the week will be.

You’ll have to worry about what the meta car and meta tune is instead.

Regarding dirty driving, I had an interaction yesterday that I found interesting.
I was at race A, of course, and for 3 races in a row, the same A+ rated Brazilian kept hitting the back and side of my car to take my spot in the turns.
I was keeping my cool and and responding with small contacts that would appear incidental, but were effective (subtle, sophisticated dirtiness). ;)
Eventually he gave me a really solid shot, and that was too much for me. I chased him down, and gave him a similar shot on the last lap, taking his spot and beating him to the line.

Here's the weird part; I was expecting to have a pretty good argument in the post-race chat, but he messaged me with "Thanks for the race" "Congratulations" "Well done". :odd:

I was confused by that. But I realized that for some people, that's just how racing works, I guess.

There are absolutely people online who legitimately think that's how auto racing works. It's one of the reasons that I've been a proponent of a damage model for online racing - even it doesn't kick in until a certain DR threshold - as well as a functioning contact penalty system.

The idea that I'd most like to see implemented is licensing tests for Sports mode. Much like offline race series are locked until you pass licensing tests, lock tiers or series of online races until people compete the licensing exams that cover the rules and etiquette of competitive racing. It would at least remove the ignorance factor.

I had the same with with an Argentinian just now. He kept mirror blocking on the straight, pushing me off when I faked him out to come alongside. So I kept right on his bumper (well he kept right in front of my bumper more like) and didn't adjust for slipstream braking. There wasn't much visible contact but he went wide, I made the corner and took the line.

I expected an argument as well, but just got buenas carreras. It happens more often, some people see it as a sign of respect when you race 'hard' back. The tricky thing is figuring out who is in what camp... Race as you 'get raced' seems to work.

One would be led to believe that after the research to develop Sophy AI they could come up with a decent penalty system...

Maybe they will surprise us with the new penalties algorithm that was announced.

Let's hope PD teaches her some manors / sportmanship. Sophy kept the stewards busy. However the AI would be great in finding flaws in any penalty system, just as Sophy is great at finding track limit exploits.

So much hurt. I got disconnected earlier after finishing first, doesn't count. Had several complete room crashes, mps server errors, game lock up while waiting for other players and disconnected while matchmaking. Then finally a stable race, I'm in second following close behind first to the final straight and the phone rings :banghead: I was waiting for that call so couldn't finish the race, disqualified due to too long pause.

Good thing, from tomorrow there's single player GT7 to turn to while waiting for the next N24 race :)

My highest finish yet at the 'Ring yesterday on my TCR account.

Helped out immensely by this fustercluck of a start!

I've had a couple races start like that, but they were a while back. The 1st time it happened, I had no idea what was going on, as did most everyone else, and we all just slowed down to an almost stop before realizing the race was live and then we took off. The 2nd time it happened, I (along with 1 other person) recognized it and capitalized. We both broke away from the pack and were way ahead by the time they all realized what was going on.
