I've had a couple races start like that, but they were a while back. The 1st time it happened, I had no idea what was going on, as did most everyone else, and we all just slowed down to an almost stop before realizing the race was live and then we took off. The 2nd time it happened, I (along with 1 other person) recognized it and capitalized. We both broke away from the pack and were way ahead by the time they all realized what was going on.
That's kind of what I did: closed my eyes and floored it!

I had another race later today when I was initially shown as P16 (non-qual), then promoted to P2, then back to P16, then everybody disconnected and the race didn't happen. I'm guessing there are issues with the servers. I wonder if the servers are hosting both GTS and GT7.

I have a fundamental understanding and competence setting up a car, I am sure I can improve virtually every car to more to my liking than the stock tune. But it is pandora's box, you need a tune for each car, just seeing if one car suits you and the track vs another will take eons because you need to tune them all to see how good you can get them driving.

You will get folks spending eons n their tune and now those with time constraints are screwed. Don't tell me to coy and paste a tune because a) it may not suit my driving style and b) if we're all going to use the same tune then why have tuning?

The entire point of Sport is not to be Asseto Corsa or iRacing, it is pick up, play and be racing in tight lobbies with a minimal amount of fuss. As soon as you introduce tuning this is out the window.

It is absolute and utter madness to have tuning in dailies IMHO. At the very MOST maybe allow for wing adjustments on downforce cars but even then the better drivers will have a HUGE advantage as they can control the powerful cars totally trimmed out.

Madness.
Agree.

Think about the amount of wasted cycles on Brake Balance in GTS... then multiply by 100 ** 100.

I was getting server errors after returning back to the lobby, but it's been unstable all day. Too many people downloading GT7 I guess (me included lol). I'm playing Horizon FW until the game unlocks. GT Sport is down.

Finally got a podium finish at the 'Ring!

Howd you even get on?
You still having trouble too? I turned my PS5 on this morning to try and log in to save my last race, but it still threw an error. If it won't connect when I get home this afternoon, I will have to lose the progress (just 1 race I think) - I'm throwing the GT7 disc in regardless. 250,000xp short of level 50 right now.

I guess it's only fitting that on my way out the door of GTS I get called dirty one more time...

Before anyone says anything, yes I suppose I should've braked earlier but my old man reflexes aren't as quick as yours and I wasn't able to react to his late swerve back to the racing line in time. I had no room to the outside, which is why I went as hard as I could to his inside. All of which is probably why I'm perennially stuck at high B/low A.

Not your fault. Moving in braking zone is a big no-no and he would likely have been either punished with a drive through or black flagged IRL.

But. A tip for next time. When you see him going that fast on the inside like that expect him to swerve or he wouldn't be able to hold the line through the corner.

This. I disagree with "the more serious racers" ... i am not that serious, THAT's why GTS worked for me. By adding tuning it gets more serious, it's arse backwards.

If we want to deep dive into tuning etc there's ACC, IRacing etc, GTS offered a viable alternative without the bedlam of forza. If GTS does bog me down with tunes though, i am better off with iracing as they have a proper penalty system and behavior is far better.
How about Grind Legends?

Odd, can't sing in on PSN on ps5, but it worked on ps4. GT7 won't work without PSN ugh. GT Sport it is then, GT7 is just giving a parade of error codes :grumpy:

Off-line mode only lets you do a single race on a few tracks (can't unlock the rest yet I guess)

Oh, I'm gunna be pissed if that happens tonight when I get home.

My 3rd place finish was earlier in the afternoon. Everybody got kicked out of one race I was in a little later, but I did get at least one race after that (started 5th, got punted to 17th, climbed back up to 9th). Home duties called in the late afternoon so I didn't even get to try racing in the evening.

Pretty sure the next couple of days are going to be challenging for anything to do with, on, near or around PSN. While I appreciate and understand the distributed nature of their processing environment, and even pushing all of the core download activity elsewhere, there's still a TREMENDOUS amount of activity flowing through the PSN network.

The volume of updates to user accounts is going to be massive with current players alone, which doesn't account for all the folks who blew the dust off their accounts just for this release.

Feels like a good time to go do some single player AI abuse for cash...still a couple cars I gotta get.

It's just garbage though isn't it. I tried to set up a "custom race" last night, what a complete debacle. You cannot select the AI cars other than just the class, i've NO IDEA what tyres the AI is on, the AI are all muppets until you hit the leader who is running, i swear, an extra 500 HP in a straight line but apparently on road tyres.

It's just a complete and utter mess. So instead of drilling down on this in gt7 we gets forced introductions, a locked sport mode, a "music rally" ,...whatever the hell that is..... someone needs to reel in Kaz and tell him to focus on what matters.

Yeah, pretty sure this is what happens when you try to maximize profits on all channels simultaneously while ignoring the infrastructure that supports your lofty endeavor. Oh well, this too shall pass...takes me back to when Hotwheels/Mattel launched their online collectors club. Pure and utter madness with requisite poor human behavior. 20 years later and the song remains the same.😁

And thank you for verifying the lead AI car thing...had convinced myself that I was imagining things and moved on. While it certainly won't RESTORE my sanity, it's one of the small steps that contributes to a larger, albeit hollow, charge...

I got it working, doing GT7 license tests on ps5 in between N24 races on ps4 pro. The lobby on GT Sport just crashed, time for an update here lol.

It seems doing the cafe stuff is required to unlock tracks. It's all very guided at the start, do this, do that. But you can configure it right away to your liking. I'm not convinced yet about the adaptive triggers. I was looking forward to them yet for now it's screwing with my braking. I can brake smoothly in GT Sport, in GT7 the changing resistance is throwing me off. I'll give it some more time, can always turn it off. It's fine on the throttle side yet a bit too much on the brake side.

Ahh, you can set the effect to weak as well, perfect now.

It's crazy how 2 weeks away from the game got me rusty. Could not miss Nurb24 so I jump in and did 4 races Tuesday. I was a mess, turning fraction of second too late and missing apex, clipping grass, sliding and killing the rear wheels, spinning out multiple time.

After two of those miserable races, I went back for two more with a car I feel good driving but the result were pretty much the same.

Next day I could built back my speed and had some good racing.

I could really feel the GT7 migration this morning. Absolutely no A+ driver in the room compared to half the field earlier this week. Only 3-4 A driver and then B-C to complete the field.

Started 15th and got 3rd. Only first 3 of us lapping in 8.20

Sounds like the GTsport exodus has already happened. That’s a shame, my experience with 7 is so negative I was thinking about going back to sport for a couple of weeks in the hope it gets fixed. Doesn’t seem like there’s much point.

Reading the review of GT7 on here and the single player racing is sooo 1997. I'm not into tuning cars, I'm all about racing on a level field. Virtually no change in Daily races expect now you have to tune your car.

GTS feels perfect for now. Maybe later when I can put my hand on a PS5. (not even trying to at the moment)

Maybe I'm the new A+ now (and keep it more than 3 days)

It was weird racing this morning on N24. I had several rooms with almost only Brazilians in them, GT7 not out there yet? And races where I started from the back and nearly timed everyone out, 58 sec lead at the finish...

The ones that were still around were mostly the worst of the dirty drivers, hence finishing with such a lead while they were keeping each other busy

I've been playing GT7 in between N24 races (got the luxury of a ps5 next to ps4 pro) and not fond of the slow start. Too many FF cars, so much understeer, and the adaptive brake is way too strong. It messes up my braking, afraid I'll break the controller when pressing the brakes lol. I set it to weak, but still feels too strong.

Not gonna lie...

I ilike it.
Especially the new music.

PS4Pro working fine
I dunno. The world map thing and music rally feel cheesy. I turned off the music. I only want to hear my car. It all feels like a video game and not a racing sim. Maybe I'll get used to it and like it better when I get through the "cafe menus" and get back to racing.

When I am the only person flashing their lights during a Daily race, I kind of feel like I'm racing against the Children of the Corn.

Anyone else?
I had a guy flashing his lights behind me earlier. It was everytime we came to the end of a straight, and he had caught up. Then the curves made me run away.
Flashing lights for overtaking is for multiclass racing. Why would I let a guy by just because he can flash?

Anyway, I did the 7:30 in EMEA this morning. 2 A+, 2 A and the rest B.

That was a fun race. The next one there where a Spanish driver in a Supra that apparently thought he had the right of way because he was in a Meta car. I passed him clean, he ran me off and spun me. The game didn't reset me so had to catch up from the back.

Then I went to NA. Had a fantastic Moses moment and a good race.

Made a.short clip of the Moses luck.
