SLS has not been strong, anywhere, the entire time I have used this game. It is like it doesn't exist. You may be surprised, there's a lot of time across the top, the VW may well be hard to beat and the WRX too.
I've been playiong since March 2018. It was good during my early play. Good as in it behaved like an MR without the rear facing the front. At some point, it just dropped off andit's very track dependent. I think Spa and DTS are two of its good circuits. Thats's all I got.

New guy saying hi. Broke my cherry online today in the daily C after 3 months of practice. Gotta say I was a bit leery after reading about dirty drivers in lower level races.

RSR because I know it the best. Q 3:07.0
P1 qualify for my first. Led 5 laps and spun, finished P2. Lol

Second race P2 start behind the Vette all was well until I got punted right before the bridge and pushed to last place. Managed to fight my way back to P5.

Anyway. Hope to get to know some people and do some racing and looking forward to competing more.

I'd like to posit a theory. @Groundfish once said that too many drivers don't use TCS when they should have it on, thereby ruining others' races. While that may be the case for some, I suggest that it is also a case of people using the meta car when they're not capable of harnessing it.
Agreed.
As you say, before A plus you can use almost any car.
People value qualifying pace more than race pace imo.
Lots of cars have great race pace but maybe aren’t as fast on qualifying.

For the upcoming Bathurst race imo the Mustang will be a great choice IF you don’t overdrive it.
The Mclaren is my dark horse pick.
I think it will end up vette one make though.
I think the tire wear will kill off the ff.
The Hyundai will be a good stable choice dark horse choice too. It handles well.

👎

Just ran the SLS twice in Race B. Up against RCZs and Sciroccos, I was out of the slipstream and accelerating even and better on the uphill straights. Of course I was faster than the Evo and WRXs in both races, but surprised I wasn't getting left in the dust.
I'll do a Custom Race to see what tyre wear is like.

That's a superb start to your online career. I had to work all week to get to 3:06.9 in the Jaguar and I had a pretty good week (minus the ragequits and punts to last). Just a couple hundred away from hitting A for the first time and it took me 305 races to get there.

I suspect you'll be shooting up the DR ladder with qualify times like that.

I was in one race with half A and half A+ drivers. I was literally the only B. Halfway through the second lap, I'm in 8th place and counting, an A+ doing a start from back challenge knocked me right around into the gravel. Entirely his fault. He slowed down a bit and probably felt bad for a moment or two but then continued on.

If he had only apologized in the post race, he'd still have my respect. He didn't even stick around to read the insults I had hurled at him.

Thanks. I only have 3 days on that track. I've been bottom 3:06 testing with a mid 05 optimum but can't piece it together yet. I still get excited and push too hard when I should slow down. Lol

I tried the Jag today but it doesn't jive with me for some reason. Supra and RSR seem to work the best until I learn a few others.

The guy that punted me did apologize and blamed lag but he legit hit me square on the bumper like he was a missle. I don't think it was intentional, just a rookie mistake.

Did a quick Lobby practice. 2:15s for the duration. Initial outlap was 2:16. Another player had joined in the SLophy. I caught it down Conrod and he's road hogging. Seriously? Blew right past him on a strip of grass. Messed up my entry into The Chase, dropped me to a 2:16.
Circled again and was purple for the last lap. Tyre wear didn't give me the mid-corner speed through the Chase. Finished with a 2:15.538. Fastest Lap was 2:15.255. Handled real well with 260km/h top speed.

Good gearing and torque will get cars up the mountain and tight corners(Mustang strengths). I think the Jag will be the choice ride though. My guess anyway.

Been hesitant to run Race B this week, maybe because the META Subaru isn’t a car I’ve driven much at all, and I figured that getting matched in the top split was going to make it hard to avoid a DR slide.

but after grinding it out for a night, have had a blast racing at DTG. I love that track! Been sending it deep into the Four Brothers, to great effect, and otherwise nailing my marks for consistent fast laps with some really respectful and talented racers at the front of the grid. Should have joined in earlier, I guess, but for a Friday night, was a lot of fun.

managed a few podiums but a win has eluded me. Always at least one alien on the grid, but it’s been fun to try and keep pace while gapping the rest of the field.

Getting close to an 80 @kudosprime K’ speed score, with a good time here and the favorable Race A this week, and nudging toward A+ rating, which I’ve never allowed myself to think too seriously about, but it’s within reach now... have to make a push for it soon.

I echo your thoughts, it can be a lot of fun and going in hard at the first of the 4 brothers is the way to go, real hard, just throw her in there.

The wrx suites me, stable, rides bumps well and its all about getting on the gas way earlier than common sense says you should.

I've kinda nudged A+ (past the 40k threshhold) which is, tbh, preposterous. I likely won't get there, and someone of my pace shouldn't get there if I am frank.

In DR D & C lobbies your going to run into a lot of people that don't have control of their car - or rather they're going to run into you. It's as you start moving up in DR that you start finding the truly dirty drivers. Fortunately, they're the minority but it only takes one or two of them to ruin a race. What's most common is that they get other people so pissed off that they start swerving and lunging to get their revenge punt. (I may have been one of those people once or twice...)

Race B's been great for me this week! I've only been able to race two evenings this week but already racked up something like 5-6 wins at DTG. I surprised myself at what a good combo it is for me.

I noticed that with back of the lineup when I was working my way through them. All late brake, early throttle and unpredictable in every corner.

I'm actually excited to work my way towards running with better drivers. Besides track knowledge it's the next step to getting better and developing a good race pace. I've been doing time trials so much I need to break some bad habits.

One of the perils of running META such as Subaru at DTG… you can’t pick out your own engine note above the others and miss shifts because you’re redlining it! With a cluster of us nose to tail it’s impossible to make out your own revs by sound!

If you can run a 3:04 qualy you’re not “too slow”. That is seriously rapid. What I’ve noticed is that I tend to tense up in race and brake too much. Particularly once I feel like someone is starting to make ground on me.

it's the same with me except, I don't feel no tension. The first racing lap feels like there's some oil on my tyres. It feels so different from the qualifications and I don't think that is influenced by the cars around me. when I see how cars in front try to take some turns until they finally spin, it looks like they never raced the track before, so maybe they experience the same. I guess you and the A driver's can better adapt to the change of the handling.

That chest feeler guy was in my Manu race last night. Someone straightaway posts to The room that he’ll punt you so watch out. He qualified lower than me. So, fortunately didn’t have to deal with that nonsense.

Well qualified for Race B & C in the AMGs. Racing a little bit better. I went from 13th to 1st on Lap 1. Insane crashing at the entry to the bridge. Truly insane.
An RCZ DID THE LAST TO FIRST. Caught me on the last two laps and waited until I gave him room and just passed me like nothing. Toyed with me those last two laps. Hardly any tyre wear using auto. Guess that RCZ is a good choice.

All the more reason to be comfortable in something nobody else likes to use. :D I get tickled by some cars that aren't META sounding great in the replays. The Vipers are always able to be picked out.

You can turn down engine sounds of the other drivers in your audio settings

The RCZ is a great little car and the rpm range is well suited. Especially in the back half. I've been spending some time with it today and really like it. My optimum is almost in line with the RSR and I don't have too much time in it. You can also get on the throttle alot earlier than some of the other MR cars.

I think with a little more brake force to keep from slowing down too much and more time it might become my new go to. And widen my line a bit. I'm a little more "carvy" with the RSR.

Also noticed it's in the boost higher than the other turbo cars. No drop in boost with auto(no TCS) and he was accelerating very quickly. Catching cars very easily. Sure, it was skill, but the car seemed to have no weakness.

I just put another 10 laps in with a little tweaking on my brake and beat my RSR time. 05's still elude me but I'll get there. I actually like it better than the RSR now. It feels a bit more stable and does shoot pretty good out of the corners.

Just had a respectfully clean race for P1. Didin't force anything as I started P2 with another AMG GT behind me. P1 RX-V just ran his/her race.
When I was in the slipstream, just stayed there so I coulkd see how this player races and to gap P3.
Multiple lead changes with clean passes. The RX-V was tailhappy all race. So, I was much more stable before the bridge esses and the ess leading into the back straight. RX-V would reel me in at the end of the triple left handers.
Last couple laps, Got a pass and the RX-V really struggled. Caught me up as I kept dropping to second gear for the last third of the track. Side by side racing until it slipped up and gave me breathinf room to the finish. Good stuff.

The FP/Q has no tire wear and no fuel weight.
So in race it's a totally different ball game. Add that you haven't got up to temperature in your tires and it can be a hairy lap to start.

After nearly 1.5 years playing this game I got my first Group 3 victory in a top split at St Croix Race C. It was not a stacked split with only a handful of A/A+ drivers but I will take it. It helped that Q2, Q3 and a no-qual-A+ racer were battling for P2 allowing me to create a small buffer. On my end I needed to nail repeated 3:08 paced laps leading to my first sub 19 minute race time.

For those not familiar with me - group 4 FF cars are my thing. Those have been nerfed and neutered more times than I care to count and are almost non-entities. Now, I need to learn to drive real FR cars. Group 3, more than group 1 and 2, has been my pain point. The St. Croix combo is good for me as it is free flowing and less dependent on corner exits, one of my weaknesses, especially when they put the drive wheels at the wrong end of the car ;)
