No they are basing it off of what KY said...

IGN
The next detail Kazunori touched on was regarding damage models. I can confirm that not every car in Gran Turismo 5 will sport damage models -- it will only be select sets. However, Kazunori has yet to decide on a finalized list of featured car types for damage support.

Eh. I don't hit anything so I'm not worried about it. This game is about driving the cars, not crashing into stuff to see how damaged the car can get.

im confused i posted this 10mins ago and it got locked cus apparently its already posted? oh well, whatever. doesnt change the fact the news sucks.

Just gimme a confirmation that all cars will have cockpits please. 8(
I can live with damage only on racing cars, all wouldve been better of course, but i can live with it.

The thing I don't understand is how games like NFS and Forza are able to do universal damage, but after 4 games and 5 years developing the 5th version, PD is still unable to do so.

Maybe because they don't have 1000 cars to intricately model, and having not played Forza when bodywork comes off what's underneath? And acurate model of the engine etc or just a generic "lump"?

As much as I am going to enjoy GT5 I have to wonder this as well. Not only that but how both those games can have damage, paint jobs, and exotics. It is quite disconcerting.

Hmmmm... I must say im kind of disappointed... and FM fanboys will eat this up like a fat man at a bake sale.... :indiff::indiff:

I think this is down to business... I bet auto manufacturers have their own demands and NFS and Forza find a middle ground for these demands and do compromises... Judging from Kaz's work ethic I think he goes to a manufacturer and simply says I want full damage and include your cars in my game... They say no and instead of compromising he says, OK and leaves.... I know there are MAJOR differences between Eastern and Western business methods... So this COULD be the situation...

Ahh, yes. Somebody finally said it. You shouldnt be crashing into to cars anyway. Damage is like icing on the cake. And as long as the cake is good, I dont really care about the icing, in fact to much icing on my cake gives me a sugar high. :dunce:

Presently nothing is confirmed, but at the moment we only know that the damage is to a select group of racing cars (WRC...).

👍

But from what was on that JP site, they didn't even intricately model 1000, just 170.

But after just 2 games, T10 has managed to include universal damage, a great paint editor, a lot of cars/tracks, and very good driving physics. I was sure that when we finally got the goods on GT5 that it would put T10's comments about "being the best racing game this generation" to shame, but things aren't looking good :nervous:

I guess we can only hope that this may be rectified via Download at a later date...
