Daytona 24 Minute Race: Daytona Road Course

Pace yourself. Try and run consistent 1:37's the race will come to you.
Best lap I could manage was a 1:48. The rest were all in the 1:50s. It was still my best finish. Dead last but only 1 lap down. I'm going to chalk this up to a lost cause and move on.

2013 DeltaWing
RH tires in front, RM tires in back
Finished 1+ laps ahead of nearest person.
NO pit stops needed. Tires do not degrade below level 5.
I ran out of fuel crossing the finish line.
Easy, easy win. One and done.

1. How do you drive the Deltawing and not spin out? I've tried for MONTHS to tame this car and come to grips driving it but I still am terrible with it. Adding ballast up front doesn't totally fix it for me.

2. Any tunes for the Delta or Peugeot 905? Or even the C9?

You have to completely change your driving style, once you are used to her she is really fast.

You can find tunes for the three of them here (up to you to adapt to 691PP):

Edit. Question to GTPlaneters: when talking about a car, are we supposed to write "it" or "she"?

Ridiculous race...
Best finish was 2nd (tried to slow down in order to cross after the time expiry) and did the last lap with no fuel. All the cars behind me held station and didn't overtake??

The English language is not sexy, that's why they say: "Sorry, no sex, we are British!".
But when English speaking persons come to talk about a subject or object such as a car or a golf-ball in sports, they mostly address the subject as "she"....
she, the car,
here she comes right into the centre of the green (the golf-ball)
etc. etc.
This is why objects or subjects like the moon, the sun, the house etc. do not have a sex, they are always addressed as "it".
End of English lesson! :dunce::D

That's one problem I always had with learning french, learning the sex of every bloody object. Seemed like a complete waste of time. English it's far more simple, you're an IT unless someone cares about you!

Well I'm English, and you can say either, they are inter changeable. People sometimes say "She" when they
have affection for the car. And "It" when it's just an object to you. Same for any vehicle or ship.

Vehicles are one of the few instances where we can add a sex to a noun in English, especially sailors and ships.

Cars I find sexy (i.e. the Huayra) I call female/she/her/etc., while cars I find less "sexy" or more rugged I refer to as males. But even still, most of the time I just think of cars as "it".

Don't try the italian then! For us everything has a sex and there is difference between singular and plural .

Many thanks for the replies!

I learned at school (a loooong time ago) that British people said "she" when they were talking about a ship. I was not sure about cars.
Well... talking about my own car, (she)it's just supposed to go from point A to point B without breaking down, that's the most important thing. Then it will be "it" rather than "she". Even if I like "her" very much ;)

The day I win the jackpot (EuroMillions or something :)) and buy me an Aston Martin, I might change my mind and my vocabulary...

Could be worse. Could be german: masculine, feminine and neuter....

First 13 laps with the Audi R18 were nice. Good tune under it, predictable tire wear. Overall a nice drive for two stops. However, after the last pit stop the car falls off. No grip anywhere with fresh tires. Drives as if the track is wet. Completely unpredictable handling. This has happened twice now.

I am all for them adding some variance. In fact I encourage it. Please let US select "Real" grip, toggle SRF, Tire Wear, etc for the entire game. But do not artificially change the race track in the last 3 minutes of a race in order to create drama. This just confirms why I'm moving on to other games.

Didn't happen for me with the 787B on my two-stop strategy. I was still capable of pulling 1:32s even on lap 14.

I finally chose the Toyota Minolta...

Congrats! This used to be my go-to car with these type of races. Stock too, no tune (didn't even care about tuning until mid last year), but I'm going to try the 787B first (even though the Minolta will normally smoke it). If I'm not happy with the result I'm going back to the old stand-by.

Ran this race again with the 787B Stealth. Used Praiano's tune less oil change and high RPM turbo. Using one stop strategy with racing hard tires, won all three times. Just limited my right foot to 8,000 RPM. Like someone else mentioned in an earlier post, run it like an endurance race and not a super lap. Easy money to be made here.

..............Happened to me while using a Merc C9, although it was after the first pit stop. The car got wobbly for a lap, but then in the next lap, things returned to normal. Haven't encountered it with any other cars, yet. Must be another random occurrence...

When did you pit??

I always forget to look at the laps in a timed race, it was around 15/16 minutes to go.

Forgive me, but I pretty much disregard your strategy most of the time. You're such a bad-ass driver/tuner that you could probably win with anything. But thank you for always kicking my ass, your times always give me a great goal to reach for :).

You're welcome, :D

I gave it a go with two American 'gents' and Japanese 'fellow', :sly:

Used my Nissan R92 and won with ease. Was surprised by how far I could go with the tires since SRF was on. At first I was pitting when my tires showed 5/4 but realized I could go as far as 3/2 with no problems.

What tires did you do it on? I'm gonna be attempt it later on with that exact same car.

The line the AI take on the bus stop chicane is hilarious.

Just in the arcade races I've done, the AI is so easy to take in the chicane. I've made up places even in a car with lower hp
because of that chicane and I just leave them.

Fuel consumption is so broken in this game.
Tires and fuel are artificially set in these 24 minute events, things are speeded up 60x , just need to figure the game parameters and work out your tactics. Different cars have different tire wear, fuel use and speed so finding the right pit strategy is part of the game.

Right now I'm working with a Sauber but having trouble keeping to two stops.
