It is still there if any one want to see it, no cover charges. LOL

Ladies and Gentlemen, step right up! For a limited time only you can see a what a "perfect lap" looks like in the flesh! Act now or you may never get to witness such a thing again!

Haha..good one.👍👍 Was that in the Beemer or the NSX?

Sorry, I already screwed that up.

Sorry for interrupting a great thread to post that I'd like to participate in this, was enjoying reading through all 16 pages of it to really get a feel for what this is about. And I can really understand it - I'm not a great driver by any means, and I'm racing in a league as it is and I'm rubbish, running in the same cars with no tuning I can't keep with the pace.

So, is it okay to join now - I'm on GMT time, but I think I can manage the late night, and Mondays are good for me, as are most nights to be honest.

Just let me know what I need to do, as I would like to join you guys on Monday night.

Welcome Flo. It is real easy. First step is to send an FR to the DeadNutsEven lounge (check for the exact PSN on page 1). Second is to hop in a car (or a couple) and see what feels comfortable at Suzuka East. Adjust PP however you like and dial it in to be able to run at or a little above the 1.01 mark. Post your information and show up Monday. The only thing we ask is that you run a good 3-5 laps before deciding if the PP is suitable. Times will drop a bit once tires are warmed up.

Cool, sounds easy enough. Will try a few cars out - I have a couple in mind, but need to see.

Welcome aboard and thanks for checking us out. Don't worry about interrupting with questions. We'd rather answer a bunch of questions if you have them so you can hit the ground running. This is a different format altogether from any other racing you will find on GTPlanet so it takes a bit of getting used to.

Best advice, other than Tracks's above, is to stick to cars you feel very comfortable driving, especially at first. Leave the difficult to drive and tune cars in the garage and show up with a neutral handling car that you feel confident driving, as that makes for the best racing as well.

Do not worry about your PP level, there is no competition there. Low PP wins you no awards so don't worry about bolting on parts and reducing weight and all that stuff, unless it helps you drive smoother and be more confident in your car choice. My PP has gone up by 34 this week and yet both cars drive relatively the same, although one is slightly faster in a straightline, the other slightly faster through the corners. They both get to the flag in the same amount of time.

Get the FR in and use the DeadNuts Lounge for practice and dialing in your car and someone may pop in to help you. Just post here that you are around so we know that you're there.

Good luck:tup:👍

Welcome to the DeadNutsEven, just sent you an FR to the lounge, feel free to practice there any time you like, looking forward to see you there.
When choosing a car, of course it needs to be able to run the pace but also very important choose something you are confortable controling, it will make you first race with us much more enjoyable.👍

I'm in the room now, anyone want to join in ?

I would but it's been a long day and I'm pretty beat, and I know I don't concentrate well at driving when I'm this tired...:nervous:

Anyone gonna be around tonight for some practice or spot races? The weather is crappy, so I'm staying in all night.

Good possibility for me. Long day again, don't feel like going out and leaving town for a couple of days tomorrow. I'll check in later and see what's up.

Any idea about the track and specs for the next round? (After Suzuka East)

We have two in the bag ready to go, just have to pick one. I'll do a final test run and announce tonight. It'll be one of the shorter Cape Rings, either North or Inside if I remember correctly, neither of which has the loop in it. Both will be featured in the next few events. One is around 1:05 (Inside?) on CS tires and the other (North or South can't remember) was around 1:28 on Sports Hards. Both are quite grippy courses, the shorter one is more technical and the other has that fast downhill right hand curve followed by a fast esses and the cars are just flying down there and into that tight left hand, double apex hairpin. It's pretty exciting on SH tires without ABS:crazy:

I'm probably going to use your Beemer as my Standard testing car from now on, in the 400-450 PP range. I was going to use the RX-8 but it's so much better than most other cars, and I'd like the PP of my test car to be close to our average PP for the better cars entered into each event. And because it's so much better it's also easier to run quick laps in it and it doesn't give a real idea of what the tracks are going to be like for cars that aren't quite as good as the Mazda.

I tried to load up my Roxio Game Capture HD last night, and couldn't get it going. Forgot to read the fine print that says you can't use an HDMI cable with the Roxio and PS3 because Sony has some type of encoding or protection on their signal and I have to buy a set of component cables for the PS3 to get it to work. Tough to find locally, hopefully I"ll have better luck out of town. I was reviewing the Suzuka races from last week and there is so much action there, I should just make a Suzuka highlight package:idea:💡

They have the PS3 component cables at Best Buy.

Not here...but I'm going to Kitchener on the weekend, should find it there.

I am going to the Lounge in a few minutes. I am going to be running a few laps at Cape Ring North to confirm the time for the next event, then back to Suzuka East to determine the PP of the BMW there, and off to Tsukuba to retroactively qualify the BMW so we can begin building our database, making it easier to choose cars in the future.

If you guys show up and want to run Suzuka just let me know and I'll go to my Lounge to get this stuff done. I'm thinking it'll take me maybe a half hour if all goes well.

So basically I should join the lounge in a half hour?
Will do then.

NEXT EVENT:

December 17, 2012, 8PM EST
29sportshardsfinished.png

Target time achieved with BMW Z4 03' at 440pp.
Top speed at end of main straight - 197km/h (123mph)

Heat 1: 4 laps, fastest first
Heat 2: 4 laps, reverse grid
Race 1, 2 and 3: 9 laps, reverse grid

For reference sake, I requalified this same car by detuning at Tsukuba and Suzuka East using only the engine limiter (original PP = 450) with everything else identical.

Tsukuba 1:07 SH - 412PP
Suzuka East 1:01 CS - 425PP

In theory, if you want to use the same car you used at Tsukuba, add 440-412PP = 28PP
If you want to use the same car you used at Suzuka East, add 440-425PP = 15PP

Sweet graphics JP! 👍

Probably not gonna make it tonight, just finished dinner and I'm probably gonna hit the rack early for work tomorrow.

I confess I borrowed it from an online search..sure saves a lot of time having to make a replay, take pictures, send them to the XMB, transfer to USB, move USB to PC, upload to ImageShack, copy link here and make the post. Lots of good GT5photos online as I discovered while searching and I'll probably use some of them in the future.

Yes, this is true - and I did not realise this was an option! Not that i'd enter a competition using this method.

I did joined with him when he was testing cars on Cape Ring tracks, the last one was the south configuration, I think you may be right Naptown, it might be south.

Great job JP. I think I am stuck with a work commitment for the 17th, but certainly looking forward to this Monday.
