7:50.xxx, so 7:46.xxx is kind of lame  Not sure how many will try with no ABS, as BB is locked at 5/5, maybe less than 1% I'll see how I fare with fellow no ABS drivers.

I'm doing that today! Its going to really separate the men from the boys. But the 5/5 BB is just pathetic, same with SRF on the challenges. 👎

What's the Gold Time on that TT?

The TT was set up to be a little more difficult than usual and I believe it says that in the description. It's not a normal TT it's a Christmas bonus TT and it comes with other prizes too. I flashed by them real fast but I think there was a ticket in there somewhere too. I ran a lap real fast, I think 7:38 something to get the dough. Top time was 7:23 when I went to bed. I don't know how they get that much power down to get that time, I'm going to have to watch the replay.

Anyone not intimately familiar with the Nurb or driving nearly 500HP cars on SH tires will have a tough time getting the gold I think. Key I think is to roll on the throttle out of most of the corners and don't floor it until you are relatively straight.

JP,

On your transmission settings, is the top speed in MPH or KPH?

Always in km/h. That top speed setting is for the slider at the bottom, it's not the actual top speed which is up to the right. Slide it all the way to the left. And then usually the FGR is all the way to the left as well. For some reason, the further left the FGR is, the faster the car is in the 100+ km/h speed range and the difference is dramatic. Set a transmission up stock with similar ratios run the 0-1000km test run, then change the FGR and adjust the individual ratios so they are the same as the stock ratios and at the test track, the car just pulls away from your first ghost once you reach 100km/h.

It's called the tranny trick. I've been using it since day 1 as a way to get a close ratio gearbox but didn't realize until recently that just by changing the FGR you get better performance with the same gear ratios.

Rido, that's an excellent time for no ABS. I'm not sure I'd even try it with no ABS and 5/5. I ran part of the Pure Corvette Race on the weekend before getting DC'd and was using 3/0. I think I'd crash at every corner with 5/5...lol.

Congratulations.👍

Be ready to brake in straight line and feather the brakes when trail braking, very easy to slide the rear tires, take a note of the cornering speed of each corner, the C7 will get into understeer with slight over speed on entry or exit. I was basically coasting the car with that 7:46.xxx, just avoiding red lap :( Did not push the car to hot lapping pace. 1st sector is around 49 seconds, slow really.

I can't do the Suzuka weather change race :( my PS3 will shutdown itself every time it loads the track, so no seasonal completion for me :grumpy:

This brings up something I have thought about for a while. I can't remember why I thought of this before but it made sense at the time, but I think it's possible that some of this lagging and stuff that goes on online, might have something to do with the individual PS3 of the lagger. After all if your unit can't handle loading a Seasonal, how could it deal with the complexities of the online world?

Take note also fellas, the new Seasonals have SRF on and you can't take it off...👎👎

The funny thing is GT5 is the only game that has this problem, other games work fine, MGS4, GTA IV, I can play them for hours, not single error. And in GT5 it only happens to certain tracks, Monza, Eiger, Suzuka weather change, other tracks works fine. Spa, La Sarthe and Nurb weather change works fine. If I revert to 1.0 to 1.07, also works fine on every track. I think something is wrong with the GT5 installation , and I reinstalled the 2.09 at least 4 times now, still no cure.

Someone here on the forums said that they had the same problem I remember reading it a few months ago, and one answer was to update your disc - buy a newer one. But I don't know what disc you have, so don't know if that's the problem, just thought I'd mention that I saw this somewhere on the forums.

I have the pre ordered 1st release GT5 from 2010 :D The disc is in great condition, clean, no scratches. I did full installation 1.0 just a while ago, then play offline, load all weather change track ( the ones which had errors on 2.09 ), they all worked fine, I played them for 3 hours, no issues. Loading times were quick, full install took less than an hour too. So, I am bit clueless now :( when I updated GT5 above 1.07, started a new game, the shutdown error started to happen, what gives PD ?

I really like the car through the first sector, lots of fun sliding it through those bends. :dopey: After that, the whole lap is just boring coasting. Every time you brake, all the weight of the car goes forward, and the rear tires just give up. I got a 7:43 and that was just cautious driving. I got DQ'd 3 times at the 6:30 mark. :ouch:

I think I'm going to re-do the challenge in time-trial mode, where I can change the BB's. I bet I'll improve my time by 10 seconds at least.

Just wanted to share some thought that I hope some new potential DNE driver can read and understand what a fantastic opportunity this league is for all the racers who enjoy the game but are not particularely fast.
Reading some of my friend posting and how easy for them it has been to get gold at the Nurburgring TT, even better than gold for most of them. I have given that TT more than a fair trial, Although I am not done, the best I have had is silver with 8.09.xxx.
But when we race on the Monday's, because of the formula we apply, I have the same chance at winning than any one else, racing with the same guy's that are lapping that TT 30 second faster than me. The DNE is not just about winning, it is about sharing a passion on line, having fun and discovering the best part, for me, of GT5.
So I hope many readers of this post will come and try this fun group and uncover what could be the best Chrismas gift available on this forum.
Merry Christmas.:)

Well said, Cote. Exactly how I feel.

Well said, and to put it another way, we are all in the same boat as Cote. You take any 10 drivers on GT5 at random and the odds of 2 of them being similar pace are probably pretty good. The odds of 3 being similar pace are pretty slim. The odds of 4 being similar pace is near impossible. In running dozens and dozens of races in ORCA in identical cars over multiple seasons I can count the number of 3 car battles I had for a whole race on one or two fingers. Had a few good 2 player battles, but a lot of the time you spent running around alone after making some small mistake or building up a small lead and breaking the draft.

In DeadNutsEven, we all end up at the finish line at the same time, or at least have the potential to. You don't line up on the grid thinking, "Wow I'd be happy with 7th place in this fleld, these guys are good" Instead it's, "If I can hold it together for 10 laps I have an equal shot at a podium or a victory here"

And in fact I have the stats to prove it:

Number of Wins

Johnny 3
Cote 2
Ferrari 1
Ncemt 6
Sagarismi 3
Nobull 1
Track 3
GTP_Orido 1
Dsgerbc 2
IForceV8 0
Iainoflo85 0

What other series can claim to have 10 different winners in just 22 events!!!!

If you take all the regular racers who have been in numerous events and assign points based on 1 point per entry for the victor and then one less for each placing, the difference between the best and worst competitor in DeadNutsEven is 1.6 points, meaning the best finisher is on average only 1.6 postiions better than the worst finisher over the 22 events run so far.

These are two remarkable statistics that no other racing series, club or league can boast of, only us!!

I'm not really sure how I have 6 wins, there may need to be a stewards inquiry or something... :dopey:

You have the most wins because you are consistent and you don't make any mistakes. That's what matters in this set-up. Solid driving, NCemt. 👍

Since, most of us, have been busy on the TT, how about a practice/friendly race tommorow at the Nurburgring? SH, pace of 7'50, Normal car.
I intend to be in the lounge at around 11h00, if others find the idea interestng and are available.
One of my goal is to be able to follow some of you at the gold pace and since usualy it makes me faster, gain a little speed for the TT, at the time of this writing, I progressed to 8'05.xxx

I have to work for the next few hours so I won't make it. I posted that same RX-7 Tune I posted here, in the Nurb Hot Lap Leaderboard thread in the tuning section as a 7:49 lap at 450 on SH tires. It's a good place to start if your looking for something in that'll do 7:50...

My new favorite car for the 'Ring is the R8 LMS in the OCD. It handles like a dream in stock form, and it sounds awesome. I know its not a normal car, nor does it have SH tires, but if you're looking to improve on the 'Ring, definitely give that a shot, because it sounds awesome and is an incredible car around that track. :dopey:

P.S. Is it 11:00 Eastern? I don't know what timezone everyone is in. :ouch:
P.S.S. I'll be in the lounge finding a 7:50 normal car-- I think I have a blue NSX that is just perfect. 💡

Sorry, I should have been more precise. Great to see that there is some interest.
The aim is 11h00 am EST.
Please, if someone needs a more convenient time let us know.
Progressed to 8'04 this morning.

Is EST GMT -4?

If so I can certainly make that.

RX7 Nurb Tune

Thanks JP, at this point if your laping at 7.49 in that car, I will probably lap in 8.20.
If you have a car you are laping in 7.20, it will probably get me to the pace.
But I have no problem getting a car that will allow me to lap the Ring in 7'50. on SH, so far I just cannot do it in that specal C7 in that TT.

I think it is -5
Now here it is noon, 12h35 to be exact, and here is EST, LOL

I'm on 5.45 now, so yes it is -5.

Good news, have you tried the TT yet?

I gave it 5 minutes and knew straight away that I couldn't do it. But I might go back and give it a try when I'm bored, might be able to finish a green lap . . .

EDIT1: Giving it another go now. I noticed you had TC at 5. You can change that if you want to. Just wondered if that might help . . .

EDIT2: After 1 red lap, I got an 8:11.351 but I was going really slow and was only finding out what the car could (or rather couldn't) do on that track, and best ways of taking certain corners to get maximum speed, but next lap after (3rd lap) I got an 8:04.145 so I was happy with the improvements I'd made from the previous lap, but I know I can go a lot faster over the whole lap. So I think a Gold is possible for me if I keep practicing.

Note: I did this with ABS 1 only.

EDIT3: Ranked 18135th in the world. Soooo, I'm happy with that for the moment. But will come back to it.

How does 7:16.472 sound?

[post=7918978]Amuse S2000 R1 04' - 500PP/SM[/post]

The grippiest non-racecar in the game and thus fairly easy to drive. You could change the tires to SH and add or subtract HP as needed. 👍👍 Within one second of the fastest car in it's class at the Ring so far, the Elise 111R and I'm going to work on it some more until I have the top spot!!!

I see you meant 11 am tomorrow for the Ring. I may be able to make it but won't know until the last minute, so hopefully I'll see you guys there.

Thanks Iain, I put it at no TC and I am now down to 8'00. A small step for GT Planet but a big step for Cote D'Azur. LOL.
Only 10 second from gold and 25 second behind JP.
Did 3 lap on a row without DQ, so I think there is hope for gold.

Oh good, so the gold is certainly in sight for you, then. I will have to keep trying, but - I just completed the Top Gear Track Special Events, all three of them. Never could do that before, lol. So I must be getting better.
