Volz, don't worry about breaking in. It won't "grow" any more during a single race or even two usually. Can always drop the 1 or 2 PP it gains throughout the night if need be.

With tire wear off, cars won't break in, I have some very low miles cars, they stay the same ( distance traveled + HP ) when doing races online with tire wear off.

:dunce: what? online race + tire wear off = no distance gained on the car?

There is also some sort of weird rule about having to finish the race, too. I don't know.

I do know that sometimes my car get mileage, and sometimes it doesn't.

All the same, I broke it in, and that means I will probably be able to take a few of the bolt on pieces off, leaving just one or two.

I may not be the fastest, but I can say this, my car will be the sexiest.

If you are lapping at the pace, you will not be the fastest nor the slowest, but you still might be too sexy for your car LOL

No, the car is too sexy for me. I hope to get on tonight to try and dial it in. I've done 1:55.3 in it, but that wasn't consistent.

Volz, we use the 2 heat races for final dial in during races too. We found over the weeks that the heat of battle brings out the best in drivers (usually). Always good to get the car as close as possible, but do realize there is room to adjust.

My CM qualification:

iainoflo85//Audi TTS Coupe '09//Premium//434PP//Tuned//ABS//120MPH

This is with no PP add-ons, and only front aero for aesthetic. Everything else is added and tweaked.

Anyone gonna be around tonight? Perhaps some spot races to get ready for tomorrow? I should be on sometime after dinner...

I'm feeling like a bag of monkey turds so I asked Cote to run the show tonight. I'll probably still be there anyway, just as a participant though. Try to save my strength for driving...lol.. :sly:

Might be 5 - 10 minutes late... If you waited, I would be most appreciative.

Thought I posted this...guess I forgot...

EDIT: Judging by the feedback in the room tonight I would venture to guess that we need to look at options to even out the pace of the cars among all the drivers. It may also be that we need to limit or eliminate 4wd's from some or all tracks.

As far as evening out the pace goes I have had some testing done and for this particular race and set up it looks like having some drivers on CS tires vs. others on CM would result in the CS drivers losing about 10-12 km/h in top speed. This brings the top speeds of all the drivers much closer together for the same lap time, which must mean the cornering speed is near the same as well. To do this we'll have to make an arbitrary decision, at least in the first week, as to who is on what tire.

I'm open to limiting 4wd's as well but I'd like to try the tire compound idea first and leave 4wd off the table for now, but for next week at least, no 4wd's.

I'm thinking we need to upgrade tires a little more and stick to sports tires most often, something along the lines of

CS 350-375pp
SH 375-400pp
SM 400-425pp
SS 425-450pp etc.

The slower drivers would be on one compound higher than this.

Feedback?

If there's anything you need or want to say in PM, you can do so to Track, Cote or me.

First, I would like to thanks everyone who particiapte as I had a great time tonight, we have had evening with more passing, but the racers I had the pleasure to compete with this evening gave me plenty of challenge.

For once I think I had the slower car in the straight, so even if I often had a better line than the guy in front of me, I could not accelerate soon enough to gain an advantage as he was in my way, still waiting for the opportunity to pass, the door to open, is, to me, what the racing is about.

The more equal the cars, in equalizing of the respective talent, will not make passing easier in my book, diversity is still the best way to go, funny how since we started paying attention to top speed, we also started to have events with less action.

In any case, I am game to try whith the different tyre compound, and what ever else.

Because if it works, it is all great and if it does not we can go back to what we had when we were having a blast witth variety, (from trucks to lotus elise)

We have to keep in mind that winning is not mission one, having fun is, and tonight the race I won was also the most boring for me, the last one from last to 3rd was epic.
I will always favour battling for last over running away in front.

Thank you again for a great time online and I hope to see you all next Monday at the lounge.

Cote and Vol having fun, A.K.A. The bold pass.:sly:

Does anyone ever go to the online event calendar , should we be in it?

I enjoyed it, even though the racing wasn't really dramatic. I will try to make it again this Monday.

Some responses:

I would hate to eliminate AWDs in cases like this. I went with the AWD because, on these tires, I wasn't clean in FRs and had too much wheel spin in FFs.

I would think it a bit dangerous to have two tire compounds on the track at once. And then you get into some sort of complicated formula on who can run what compound and stuff like that. I just think this particular combo, trying to make those laptimes on that track in those tires, wasn't going to make for the most dramatic racing. Increase the lap time or change the tire compound, and I think we would've had some very good racing.

+1

The race where I won wasn't very dramatic. As I said in the room, I just checked out at one point. Cote was all over me but since he couldn't capitalize on his better cornering speed, and couldn't keep up with me on the straights, even in my draft, all I had to do was not wreck. And I could go as slow as I wanted to.

And yes, that was a bold pass, and there was contact, but it was the only way anyone was going to get to pass. I can't say as that pass bothers me.

As I said in the room...

I think these tires were too weak for drivers to capitalize on passing opportunities. There were corners where I would follow flesx, he would be an acre from the apex, going sideways, but I didn't have the traction to get past him. All I could do was close down the gap, and then watch him race away on the straight.

And there were corners where Cote, NCemt, and others would follow me. And they were faster than me. But they didn't have the traction, either, to pass cleanly, and they would just fall back on the straights.

So, what is the track/lap time for next week?

I understand the concern of running two tire compounds and often felt the same. The truth of it is that some guys are extremely effective when it comes to braking and carrying speed through a turn. Those drivers currently need to take into account the closing rate or the braking distance other drivers need to have. This often leads to a compounded issue of losing a great deal of time being held up behind someone lap after lap. I think the two tire compounds would actually make for more predictable racing and a more entertaining race. At this time I would like to at least try it for a week or two. Worse case scenario it doesn't work out the way some think it may.

We should try it, as you said, if only to know if it works better or not.

i agree with vol. i only picked an awd because of the tires, i could not make any time in the corners, then the only way i could make the target time was to make it faster on the straights. maybe i should have done some suspension work and weight reduction instead.

and this week was the exact opposite from last week for me. my nsx was good in the corners i even made a pass or 2, but would be taken back on the straight. thats the kind of race id rather have than this weeks.
