Great racing tonight guys! didn't plan to join this time but needed a pause in my paper writing :P Forgot to check the specs on my Volvo so I'll do it tomorrow and fill in the blanks.

Great racing tonight all around... Seemed to be much less drama than last week, and a lot more close racing. Hope we have another big turnout on Saturday.

2.11 GT5 45MB update available when PD's server started the maintenance, reports say hybrid still available offline after update.

A couple of bumps and bruises but that's to be expected with a large field, a tight track, and everyone running the exact same laptimes!!!! I had a great time tonight, tons of close, close racing and each race was a nailbiter for me until the end. Really enjoyed it, hope the rest of you did too:tup:👍

The OP is a little confusing for me...basically we're to join the lounge and try to get as close to the target time as possible? Is the time on the picture a start or end time?

Oh, and how do I join? :sly:

You practise ahead of the race and tune a car until that car goes around the given track as close to the time given as possible, but not under. :) Then you come to the race and have the same laptime as everyone else and have fun. :P Something like that.. oh and there's top speeds you can't exceed and stuff as well. Give the OP another read through and you'll probably get it.

Eks,

The idea is that everyone submits an entry that tries to get as close to the target as possible without going under. (Example target 1:20.000 - you don't want you car to run any quicker than 1:20.000 when you're driving at the absolute limit every lap)

You may choose any car you want (with the exception of 4WD cars, unless specifically allowed) and tune it any way want, as long as its on one of the two chosen tire compounds and it doesn't exceed the posted top speed limit on the longest straightaway. Most new folks start on the softer compound unless you're an alien right out of the box, then you may choose the harder compound.

In this league, we strive for fair, clean and close racing above all else. If you can do that consistently and be within the posted specs for the week, you'll fit in very well here.

Send a FR to DeadNutsEven on PSN, that is the private lounge that we race in.

If you have any other questions, just post them here and someone will help you out.

Yes great evening last night, close racing, difficult passes but rewarding when well executed, much better than the previous Monday, JP's lessons are working!

I will be there Saturday, except now my PP is 436, it was 380PP, since we reversed to the pre update 2.09 PP rating. Same car, DNE is PP proof.

About Saturday morning, having a car ready, beeing able to race with good friends at the beginning of the week end, priceless, for ev........ you know the rest.

NC has hit the nail on the head. I suggest you re-read the OP and then ask specific questions based on what is confusing you in the OP. You should also read the links under "Classroom Training" as they give you a clear picture of the type of etiquette that's expected around here.

We only recently added the two tire compounds. Basically how it works is, if you are an above average driver, you will hit the time target and speed limit on most decent street cars with the harder compound, it just works out that way. If you are a little or a lot below average, or you choose a car that is below average in grip, you will need the softer compound and again, it will work out naturally that you dont exceed the top speed limit. We highly recommend that at first you stick to the better handling FR cars, like the Mazda RX7/8, Honda S2000, Silvia S15 etc. FF's are rarely used because of their poor starts and 4wd's are generally not allowed because of their great starts, although the upcoming Rally Car Event is an exception.

Last night we had everything from a tuned Volvo Wagon and Stock Mustang on Sports Hards, to a tuned Tommy Kaira ZZ and a tuned Ruf 3400S on Comfort Softs, with a smattering of S2000's, stock and tuned, thrown in for good measure. Have a look at last night's results [post=8139305]Autumn Ring Reverse, 1:35, CS/SH, 02/18/13 [/post] but keep in mind that with last night's 2.11 Update the PP numbers are all skewed now :grumpy:

You'll find the next two races, this Saturday and again next Monday, in the [post=7815135]Second Post[/post] of this thread.

Good luck, and we hope to see you on track soon.:)

As an aside, my BRZ from last nights race jumped from 363pp to 390pp after the update.

Hah I think I messed up in this aspect as my first car was a big Volvo S60, not very good in the handling department (but better than you'd expect) and very much FF. :) Luckily I survived that first encounter and have kept on doing weird choices ever since. :P

Seemed like it did ok to me. Nothing is stopping anyone from using an FF, but to give up a couple of spots at the start sometimes when the racing is so close...👎👎 We should do an FF only event soon...unless we get a lot of strong objections to it...not everyone likes driving them that's for sure..

I just wanted to add that I watched quite a bit of replay last night and this morning and we should really pat each other on the back. When you consider the various levels of talent all running at the same speed, car after car bumper to bumper lap after lap, different types of cars and tire compounds, on a very tight and technical track, everyone did a stand up job of keeping it clean and within the GTP rules with a couple of exceptions:). I've raced in a few leagues and organized events here and there, but never in anything where so many drivers were so close together for so long.

The fact that we can run like this is amazing and everyone should be congratulated on a job well done last night:tup:👍

I'd like to race them if I knew everyone else was in an FF. I don't like trying to race them against superior drivetrains, but I'd quite like to take a Mini to the races. Maybe even an all Mini event. 👍

I'm bad at starting no matter which tires are driving the car forward so losing a couple of places in the start is just normal for me. ^^ But I'd love an all FF race, not everyday you get to race your favourite FFs :P

unless we get a lot of strong objections to it.

You've got one right here! I don't mind them that much, but I only have 3 FF's in my 260 car garage. And 2 of them are meant to be a joke. I'll still race if we do an FF event; I'm not gonna throw a tantrum because I have to drive a Civic instead of an NSX.

Drive an NSX in reverse the entire race? Instant FF car.

Many FF's can be tuned to be pretty good but the Honda Integra is pretty much the "NSX" of FF's. Pre-2.09 and in 2.11 the Integra was/is just about he fastest 450PP SS car in my garage. 38's at Nurb GP/D, 21's at Deep Forest Reverse. Huge grip and has great straightline speed.

If you need a Trial Celica I can send one, it's an absolute dream on any tire and probably too fast in the corners for most tracks. Civics are good, Ford Focus, a lot of the premiums are pretty good. The best tuning tips for FF's are stiffer front suspension, lots of negative rear toe (-.20 and more) and lots of ballast in the back. I easily had an FTO tuned and ready to go for Autumn Ring, I was just afraid of getting killed on the start as I knew it would be a dog eat dog battle all night, based on the practice runs we had. Rido has the Insight ready to go as well.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll resort to PMing for future questions to keep the thread clean 👍

*snippety-doo-da*

Its close between the Insight, for comedy purposes, and a 97 Civic. I don't want to move towards super-awesome handling cars, as you've seen where your NSX has gotten me. (only 97mph last week! :banghead:) But of course the Celica depends on if we're running an Autumn-ring type track again, or something a bit more drawn out. If worse comes to worse, I might just find an Integra and paint it in an NSX color; Its close enough, I guess.

I am sending a tuned FF your way Ferrari, what color would you like ? Something with bling or chameleon color ?

And the Insight LS, I haven't tested for 15 minutes racing pace, not sure if the battery would hold ...really depend on the track.

It was fine at Suzuka East, tested at Autumn Ring Reverse for 5 laps, 2 or 3 bars battery used.

Update : Ferrari, you got yourself a sexy pocket rocket hatchback, 210+ HP 1300+kg, 105/106 mph top speed, 1:35.0x at Autumn Ring Reverse with CS tire, same PP with the Insight I think :)
