For your viewing pleasure, shifter karts have finally come to GT5, courtesy of our very own Rido:tup:

Just in case you don't think it's realistic, here's the real thing for comparison...

We can see Kiera's n:censored:Pp:censored:s in the photos at the bottom. :scared:

ooops... I never noticed until just now. Oh well...

And besides, for something to be NSFW at my job it pretty much has to be full on pornography... And that's only on Mon - Fri between 08:00 - 16:00 when the administrative folks are around.

I don't get the analogy...must be an Indiana thing...lol..

It's not really an airplane, it's a Toyota van with an airplane shell taped on to it. Just like it's not really a shifter kart, it's a regular car with a kart shell placed on top. :indiff:

Does it still handle like a kart or does it behave like the car it's mounted to?

The kart only has the 1 speed gearbox replaced with 6 speed :) and some power bump, it's still a kart only faster and has many gears.

I can't believe you'd think I'd do something that tacky!!! Have you not noticed my flag? It's a 100CC kart chassis with a 125 kart motor, power doubled to 59 hp, 6 speed gearbox added. It's a kart through and through, no cars involved, just kart parts. It is a handful to drive. Bumps were bad in the old karts but with the increased speed they are worse. Some tracks like Nurb GP/D or F and Motegi are just beautiful. Custom kart tracks actually make sense now and I created a couple of beauties just for this kart.

It's actually pretty close to 250CC Superkarts in specs, but it can be spec'd to anything with the power multiplier. You can use the stock motor and set up and just add a gearbox to it, with either kart. I think a stock 125 series with a 6 speed would be fantastic.

And just so you know, you can't just put a Kart on a car chassis, the dimensions have to match otherwise the wheels stick out. This is a kart from top to bottom. Next experiment will be on the 125 chassis.

My understanding of how the hybrid's work is apparently not 100% accurate then. I thought it was just a body placed on the chassis of a superior car.

I don't have an issue with using these tricks to create something that should exist, but I'd guess the majority of these hybrid's are explicitly created for nothing other than cheating so I (and others) tend to bristle up and their mention. It would be fun if we had a field of them and everyone could be piloting a shifter kart, but is that even possible?

Easily possible, you can send them same as any other car or use something called a borrow glitch to take it when you have it on borrow from someone. Or just go the normal trading route. And I've figured out a way to spec them that should work so they are all even, even though the normal room retrictions can't quite do it.

You can swap bodies and chassis, but they have to fit, just like in real life, otherwise things don't line up. You can't drop a Lotus Elis onto a Veyron or nothing will match. I should say you can still do it, it just won't look right.

In case anyone missed it..

Just borrow glitched mine tonight, anybody up for some racing in them?

I've gotta get the borrow glitch working for me first...haven't had time. Gotta get the results and next weeks target up now... I did drive the other three and I think the 100 could go down to SH tires and the 125 stock and 45 HP SM. The 60 is cool on SS though for the bigger tracks.

Loved the cars, loved the track, loved the sound of the motors and the closeness of the competition. We'll do this again sometime, assuming there are enough of us left...lol.

highspeedring117shandsm.jpg

Q cars:
Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione 08’ 458, 6 speed close ratio gearbox and ballast, 458PP, 245km/h
Maserati GranTurismo S 08’, Spec, 460PP, 247 km/h
Tire Wear Off
Top speed limit entering second corner: 255 km/h/ 158 mph

Note: This is a dual compound race on Sports Hard and Medium Tires

If you cannot stay below the Max Speed on SH Tires, you must switch to SM.
Car selection is open to Maserati, BMW, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar and Aston Martin, 1990 or later and weighing at least 1500kgs (before ballast), no 4WD.

Heat 1: 5 laps, fastest first
Heat 2: 5 laps, reverse grid
Race 1, 2 and 3: 11 laps, reverse grid.

Gonna mix it up a bit next week. If you can think of any cars that fit that general description that I missed feel free to point it out. I'm not sure how the top speed target will work on this big track so if you're having problems with it on the softer compound let me know.

Best line through the second and last corner is the high line, close to the guardrail. Try it a few times and you'll see you get a much better run off of there and maintain more speed through the corner as well.

Wow!! Triple post! Looks like the GT is going to get the dust blown off from it this week, its nice to already know what car I'm using when the target is posted for a change.

What cars can we use for next week? And what is the "theme"? There seems to be one, but I can't work out what it is.

Okay, thank you - plenty to choose from then.

I've driven many of these cars stock and find them all great to drive. All the premiums handle really well. Avoid the 99' Vantage I think it is...it's not so great...:yuck:

I would probably be heading for a premium on this one, anyway. Will look at my options.

Top speed limit entering second corner: 255 km/h

I never drive on that track, but when I gave it a spin this morning, the part I am the fastest is the first curve, not entering the second curve. Is entering the second curve where we are supposed to be the fastest on a lap on that track?

Depend on the car, I usually hit close to 250 km/h on the 1st corner entry, but on 2nd, if the exits of the 1st was good, I can hit higher. But usually I am slower on the 2nd corner, the 1st sector right after the bridge should be in 31s region.

I rarely drive this track myself and I didn't even look at the speed entering the first corner. I'll have to check it when I get home after dinner I guess, but the posted speed is for the second corner entry so if you are testing go by that. It's much easier to measure the second corner entry speed in any case, as it's a definite transition point to braking whereas in the first corner speed is "scrubbed off" and maybe a little less harder to define top speed. I'll test it and see.

I'm thinking this thread might be a good read (from the Tuning forum, about PP on different cars at TM):

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=279128

Just a gut feeling, really. I've yet to assimilate all the data but I think it might be a good reference (maybe) for us here. Give it a browse and let me know - I think what he's done is a real asset to the GTP community in helping to understand PP levels.

Just a lap I've done with 59HP shifter kart at Laguna Seca :D on comfort soft tire,1:28.465
Nice grip level for a kart, a bit edgy with that much power, but loads of fun and intense all the way :)

All my shifter karts are shared - 3 types of tire on each of them - CS is the default on Sheet A. All have 10/6 BB.
