Anyone gonna be around later for practice/testing or some impromptu races?

Alright I think I really need to get back into this. If the racing is as good as I hear, then this should be fun. Based on my run with you all at Laguna a while ago the racing was great. I will definitely be trying to make it soon. have finals in the next couple of weeks, but I will still try to make it work.

Just had a good session with Orido, I had to leave but he still there. I will try to be back latter but the chances are slim.

I am planning on being on tonight. Still trying to fine tune the PP level of the 86GT12. Around 435ish with bolt on parts, no suspension tuning. Had a really off night testing, so hopefully tonight goes better.

Hope you can make it back for some racing Ace...be good to have you. Keep an eye on the other guys posting about what PP and tuning levels everyone is at as it'll give you a good head start on choosing a car and getting it tuned up for the event. And don't forget, it's not a PP competition. Low or high doesn't matter, all that matters is meeting the target time. If your thing is you want a challenge and get it as low as possible that's fine too, but the main thing is to find a car you are comfortable racing with that turns the target lap time. I tend to stick with my favourites and pull out something odd (for me) once in a while but to each his own.

I bought a system today for capturing hi-def gaming action so I am going to redo the video in HD assuming I can figure it all out...lol..and if I figure it out I'll do some more as time goes along. I've always wanted a series on what clean racing is all about and this would give me a chance to do just that. I am happy with the first effort at a video but I can't leave it that way to represent the group, the quality isn't good enough. I don't like doing stuff half:censored: and that's what it screams when I see it:crazy: The idea comes across but it looks like something copied off a VCR :banghead:

Also been fiddling around with some photo editing and although there isnt a creative bone in my body I do like to fiddle with that kind of stuff. I made this up in the last few minutes...what do you guys think?

Sorry about being a little all over the place tonight. First I was having trouble connecting to the lounge and then dinner showed up, and I didn't want to eat it cold. I did have fun though. Tonight showed me I need to be faster down the straight and maybe run a bit heavier. I'll definitely try out your LSD Johnny. :sly:

@ Johnny, great news about the video capture. The picture announcing the next event looks great, well done.
If anyone is available tomorrow afternoon, 16h00 to 18h00, let me know, we could meet in the lounge for practice and short races if we have enough participants.

I'm off work tomorrow, should be around most of the afternoon.

I'm gonna try showing up on Monday in:

dsgerbc / Subaru BRZ S '12 / 42? PP / Premium / sport exhaust+oem spoiler @max / ABS? (not sure I need it, will double check later)

Gonna go send the FR to the lounge.

So a question: 1:01 target - is that a freak of a perfect lap of what I can run somewhat consistently on good laps?

We ran a few 5 lappers tonight with me, NC, Track and Ferrari and it was quite the education...lol. Last corner is going to be tough, especially early on before the tires warm up. But it's off camber with slight elevation changes as you crossover from one part of the circuit to another. If you come in too hot, or get on the throttle too soon, you'll go wide and if you do, you're toast.

Also, when you are practicing, make sure you practice running off the racing line or holding an inside line. It can be done, we did it a few times, but you better best be sure of your braking points and be able to hold an inside line in the first corner and the best way to do that is practice it a bit. The draft is enough to get you alongside or slightly ahead at best so you'll be two wide trying to pass in turn one. I'm sure some of you guys (Ferrari and Cote:drool:) will be covering the inside line and force the drafter to the outside so it pays to practice running inside and outside in the first corner. If in doubt, brake a bit early and use the white line across the track as your reference point as to where to brake.

As per the GTP rules, a little wiggle in the esses doesn't mean you should stick your nose inside someone. If they get to the outside of the track or well off the racing line, it's an obvious error, but 1 car width + 1 inch isn't an opportunity to pass.

My entries so far:

Johnnypenso /Mazda RX_8 Type S 07'/411 PP/Premium/Fully tuned/ ABS 1 << I kept trying no ABS but the second corner is a bugger without ABS and it's going to be close racing so I'd rather not cause anyone behind me any concern...lol.

Johnnypenso/Audi TT Coupe 3.2 Quattro 03'/434PP/Premium/Fully tuned/ABS1:dunce:

I've always fielded a car that goes about .2 to .4 seconds over, but is consistently in that range. Personally I do it that way so I know during the race when I really use the car to the absolute best it can be so I can catch someone up, its always within a thousandth of the target time. But that's just me.

Gonna refile my entry for Monday since I've reconfigured the setup on my car and dropped some more PP...

December 3rd, 2012

NCemtB / Subaru BRZ S '12 / 422PP / Premium / Full Tune / ABS 1

I'm now on fully tuned suspension, transmission and drivetrain in addition to the tuning I had done in the previous entry.

Currently I'm anywhere from 1:01.0XX to 1:01.3XX minus the first lap, running test stints at the race distance.

Not just you, I do the same, I know I will be faster when the adrenaline kicks in in the heat of the moment. This group is so competitive and inspirational, they make anybody go faster, even me LOL

DSG, nice to see you over here. Like NC said, when dialing in the car, the target time is what you should be able to hover just above lap after lap. I probably had 25 laps in last night, and all clean, single laps were in the same range as NC. I did have one that was about 4 or 5 tenths over, but had a serious draft, catching the person in front of me down the straight. If you have a freak perfect lap and hit a tenth below, I wouldn't worry. The last thing you want is to look like a tool running tenths faster all race on your own.

Welcome aboard DSG, nice to have you. I think these guys just about covered it. Track hit the nail on the head with that quote...lol. It's about integrity more than anything as we are all on our honour here. Most of us try to get as close as we can with a very, very good lap.

We do run a couple of short races before the main feature races, to get used to running in traffic and any final sorting of PP. We also adjust our PP if in the heat of the moment in a race, running alone without the draft, we beat the target time by more than a tenth or two, but usually by the time the features are running, it's all sorted out.

On another note, I'm having second thoughts about the final race of the season being at the 'Nurb. We definitely won't be nose to tail for 2x2 lap races, but I thought it might be a change of pace and guys have asked for it before in the Parity League. But this is a community driven league and I only want to run the kinds of events you guys enjoy, regardless of track or PP or tire choice. So I leave it up to you.

The idea was 1 warm up race of 1 lap and then 2 races of 2 laps each on the Type V course, 10:00 which was 420 ish on sports hards for me. Let me know if you guys would rather run a standard shorter track instead, any track, not just a Nurb track. I have no dog in this fight, I will race anywhere with you guys, so if you don't think the Nurb race will be fun or competitive etc. just post your thoughts here, and a majority will rule!!!! <<<bolded so no one misses this, not yelling..:sly:

I propose that we do the Nurb race as a special event, additional and different day than our usual Monday event and post it in Spot Races & Time Trials.💡

I'm really not a fan at all of racing on the Nordschleife/24 Hour/Type V layouts... Once you get off of the GP circuit there is no real place to run two wide of pass without taking a pretty big risk in putting yourself or someone else off... Then you spend the rest of the race driving around by yourself. No thanks...

Hi, JP, my mistake at your lounge earlier ( Cape Ring South ) 1:27.xxx was with SH tires, :D I got carried away with drifting it, felt like on comfort, then I checked, SH tire :/

You mean in the Vette? I was on Sports Hards too...lol. I didn't mean to compare lap times, I just thought if you stuck around for a while and made a Time Attack out of it, you could have a reference point if you wanted one. I saw you were drifting and not really seriously trying to turn fast laps...lol..:) It is easy to kick the back end out especially in those low speed hairpins. :nervous::scared:
