This is a mid engine corvette and arguably one of the best american cars ever made. If anything they need to bring back the C5 as well and the base C6.
Agree, this C8 Corvette really set everything else apart in terms of how American "Supercars" perform.

I also really don't mind at all having the same model with several generations of it in the game. However, the same generation with multiple variants for me seems like a waste of time, unless it's an actual upgrade, like for example, we now get the "base" C8 but in the future we should get the ZR1.

The C5 certainly would be welcomed, and it's C5-R variant that competed against the Viper GTS-R back in the early 00's and which is also an Gran Turismo iconic car.

The Base C6 however would "feel" like a waste of time since we already got the C6 ZR1.

Imagine adding all the variants of the current 911 992... Jesus... We have what...:

911 Carrera
911 Carrera S
911 Carrera 4S
911 Carrera GTS
911 Turbo
911 Turbo S
911 GT3
911 GT3 RS

... And I'm not even including Targas or Cabrios which would multiply most of these by 2 or 3...

And now imagine every single 911 in history...

Like seriously, now that I'm talking about this. What the hell is this need of Porsche having so many frickin variants? It makes it feel like the brand is so... common...

At most, the same generation with the "Base" launch model and the "hardcore" model (say, AMG GT S and AMG GT R Black Series) alongside the racing models is fine. Any more than that like versions with cosmetic differences or little difference in weight and horsepower are just a waste of time. Because there's tuning available in this game.

This update must appeal to those desperately wanting more modern cars in the game. Good choices in this department, but speaking for myself I feel more excited when PD adds older cars. That’s not to say I look most forward to the Celica rally car in this batch (as I prefer the GT Four road car already in the game). However, I generally feel more excited when I get to experience cars that are linked to nostalgia. Again, this is not a bad handful of cars, but I’m mostly indifferent like when we recently got the BMW M2.

There are never too many Porsches and we're still missing legends like the 959, 928, 944, 901, Boxster...
I was talking about variants of the same model.

Obviously, the 959, 928 and 901 are different models, not to mention also iconic. The 959 being like the rival of the F40, surprises me it isn't in the game already. But then again, so does a lot of other cars.

The 959 would be enough for me as it is my favorite Porsche of all time, but the 928 and 944 would be welcome additions too.

There is a huge gulf between a base corvette and a ZL1 that's why . GT sport had alot of the top end models added in via update. A C5 is a exception because there was no ZL1. The base C6 is needed even jf they look the same. Odd they left the v12 r8 out too..

Rich people love exclusivity. If you make a bunch of different limited-production variants of the same thing it hikes the price of each variant, making the market react as if they're limited commodities.

I feel like oversaturation of the 911 is classic PD. How the 959, the 924 or even the poor man's 914 aren't in the game is beyond me. I guess the writing was on the wall, when RUF was in GT2. 🤣

I'm actually a little surprised we haven't got the 1973 Carrera RS yet. A lot less surprising that we're missing the 992 though, with PD being so terrified of modern cars... :sly:

You mean V10 R8. That one will definitely be added via updates. It was already teased some time ago. Plus that model is infinitely different than the launch R8 which has a V8 and is a manual.

I won't mind the base C6 added, it's still signficantly different to the ZR1 in terms of power/weight and some cosmetics after all. I just feel like it's a waste because you are basically adding now an underpowered version of the better one that is already in the game.

Yeah, I would figure this is one of the reasons. But Porsche just goes the extra mile with 911... Like 20 variants of the current gen 911. It's ridiculous. And this isn't about "limited" models, it's just the basic Carreras, Turbos, Cabrios, Targas and GT3s which are all sold en masse.

Actually, in terms of generational 911s, PD is actually doing good here. You have a lot of 911 but almost all of them are generations apart.
From those you have the original 911 (1974), 930, 964, 993. 996, 997 and 991. We are actually missing the current Gen which is the 992. But with the way PD and Porsche are holding hands, it's only a matter of time until we either get a 992 Turbo S or one of the 992 GT3s, either the normal or the RS... Or both which I would be fine with it since one is more for the road and the other is fully track focused, they are vastly different from each other.

I see your point, I would completely love to have a lot of variants of the 911 lineup. Specially if they bring something different. Having a Carrera and Carrera S wouldn't make sense but a Carrera S together with a Carrera 4 it's ok.
Just like NFS Porsche used to have. It was amazing.

Tbf, there was a v12 tdi model teased, but never saw the light if day. I'd take that over the v10 any day.
I think there's like a 2 second clip of an R8 V12 TDI in the original Iron Man movie. It would kinda suck as a real car though, the V12 is incredibly heavy and it makes much less power than the V10.

At the time? Yeah. Which is probably why they stuck it in the Q7.

Today? They could totally pull it off.

If hybrids and EVs weren't being pushed.

Yup, he would lose his mind over that game, then the World Racing game with multiple variants of different Mercedes-Benz cars, the Ford Mustang game released in 2005, and the Corvette racing game released in 2003.

Ford Mustang the Legend Lives had 5 variants of the 1968 Mustang alone. I loved that.
Though one thing that annoyed me about that game was it only having 2 Foxbodies, the SVO and 1987 LX Coupe. They could've added the 1993 Cobra and Cobra R, but didn't despite having the 1995 & 2000 Cobra R.
--------

While on that subject, that's basically part of my dream racing game. Not just every car model I could dream of, but several variations of them. Now, I don't want like every package ever dreamed of, just like a few variations of each that differ in performance and appearance.

For example: Since the C6 Corvette was mentioned, I would probably want it like this: Base, Grand Sport, Z06, ZR1, C6.R, Pratt & MIller C6RS, and ZR1 C6.R GT3. For the R34 Skyline GT-R: it would be GT Turbo 2.5, GT-R 1999, GT-R V-Spec II Nur, and GT Turbo 4-Door. Plus the JGTC R34 from 1999 & 2003.

Of course, that will never happen since no developer in the world has the time nor resources to do it. This racing game would require me to find the 7 dragon balls and summon Shenron to get.

So, what you're saying is, GT2 is pretty much the perfect Gran Turismo, with its car list. I agree. ;)
