To my knowledge, there's just one.
Yeah, I saw that just some time after I made the post. I still think there's more than one since there is a picture of the Dubai King's green one, and reports of a silver Estate in the UK.

That is the first time I have ever seen a picture of the Quattroporte in red. I have only really seen the car in silver and blue I think. Very cool spotting to see it in a different color like that. And very nice spottings all around!

Also great pictures of the LM002, GT350, 360 Challenge, and 348. And what was the difference in those particular 348s?
From what I've been able to read, these special editions with the Maranello Edition were made when the world-wide slump took in the early-ninties. These were made to make the sales better.

They include 10 more horsepower, offered in tb or ts form, and exterior differences. I felt pretty lucky on this one has it seems to have quite a few rarities of Ferraris. 1) White isn't exactly the color for Ferraris. It's just not seen much. 2) I'm not exactly sure but I've heard the ts' are little harder to find than the tb's. 3rd) It's a rarer 348 model.

Of course, the Maranello Speciale is rare with only 10. These were done by Maranello Concessionairs (UK Ferrari Importer) and were authorized by the factory. It had exterior changes, Challenge steering wheel, sport exhaust, and 310Bhp on tap.

Thanks! Second red one I've seen, but the first was in a shopping mall - doesn't really count.

I'll believe it when I see it - for now I think there's just one - and it wasn't even manufactured by Lamborghini.

I've seen a silver LM002 'estate' advertised for sale in one of the UK classic car mags i get. I'm pretty sure it said it's one made for the Sultan of Brunai.

More pics of the Sultan's LM estate here, it's apparantly currently located on Germany.

Not wanting to challenge the Lambo Registary on this, but that green painted LM estate spotted in South Africa does have a fair few detailing differences to the silver ex-Sultan one. The mirrors, size of headlamps and overall roof shape being the most obvious ones.

It looks like in the green picture, it's got British license plates. It's also curious that the vehicle would be in South Africa, a country which has taken a consistently rigid stance against left-drive vehicles. I think they're the same car, but to each his own.

Actually, the green car's plate follows a SA licence plate format (three letters followed by 3 numbers followed by a single letter) closer than it does any UK format. The front plate is also yellow where as a UK front plate is always white (with a rear plate in yellow)

South African license plates use consistent African dies ('font') for their characters:

A large majority of African countries use those dies in addition to South Africa. Plates are made nationally, not privately, so there is no variation. That vehicle in fact uses consistent U.K. dies. Furthermore, it seems you're forgetting the UK's past license plate numbering format. From 1963 to 1983, all plates were in an AAA 000A format, with the suffix letter being the age identifier, in this case T, which is the 1978-1979 model year. That would be inconsistent with the vehicle's age, but in the UK, you can use any suffix you'd like provided that it doesn't make the vehicle look newer than it is (and it's not taken). For instance, F355 GTB is on a Ferrari F355, despite the fact that the F prefix would've been issued in 1988, and the 355 didn't come out until 1994.

It doesn't matter though because it seems I'm wrong - all South African plates up to 1995 carried a T suffix and were black over yellow, as that one is and does, so the vehicle is in fact registered in South Africa.

Anyway, it's all moot, as the Lamborghini Registry puts the car in Germany today and it's not unlikely that it could've spent some time in South Africa between its being built in 1989 and today.

Which still ignores the point that the body style of the green and silver car is considerably different, with the silver car looking exactly like the shots of the car being built that Holdenhsvgtsr linked too.
I say it is highly unlikely that they would completely rebody the car and paint it green, only to rebody it again to what it looked like originally and then paint it silver again, unless they were restoring it (which it isn't old enough to do). This leaves me to conclude that there are two of them: The Silver one made for the Sultan, and the green one seen in South Africa.
Upon further investigation, it seems the website contrasts itself as to where the car actually is, saying it is both in the U.K. and Germany.

Aside from the mirrors, why do you guys think the green one is different from the silver one?

When these Lamborghinis appear at shows, people check the s/n's and give them to the Lambo Registry. The site is quite accurate as far as specific models go.

I'll admit Lamborghini Registry is quite accurate most of the time, but I do feel that sometimes it, like Lambocars makes mistakes.

This LM002 deal is a lot like the Cala. People claim there's only 1, however, 2 have been seen with different bodywork, and in different places.

The roof profile is completely different, with the green one having a double-tiered flat roof and the silver one having a single level roof that gradually slopes up towards the rear. As such, the green one looks at least 5 inches taller.
The front is also considerably different, with the fog lights on the push bar, and there is a rectangular spot light on the drivers side like on police cars.
The interior of the green one is also a tan or white color, whereas the silver one has an all-black interior.

I don't know if I agree with all your statements, but I guess you guys are making sense. I'm going to stick with the Registry here, but I feel like that's sort of akin to clinging to the Warren Commission's report: likely incorrect, and likely to be disproven in the future.

Did you miss the giant blower sticking out of the hood? :sly:

Sure didn't, its still ugly as hell. Hence why I said it was a potentially nice looking veicle. Those 26's look flatout dumb. Stick on some 17 inch Torque Thrusts and some mickey thompsons on it and we got a nice looking car.

Those are twenty-six-inch rims, ladies and gentlemen, and this was simply the loudest car I've ever heard, save the Countach I saw in October

Haven't I seen that car somewhere before? Oh, yes: GTA:SA. What an obscene mess.

The flying buttresses are there to direct airflow from the area around the rear windshield to the very small rear lip and thus making the rear lip more efficient at making downforce that it would otherwise be without the flying buttresses. But if you are talking about drag, then most likely without the flying buttresses would make the car have a very slightly less amount of drag, but at the tradeoff of a little less downforce also.

The buttresses add a good deal less drag than a larger spoiler would have, and a larger spoiler would probably upset Pininfarina's design. Ferrari (and others) are taking a much more active approach to aerodynamics. Things like undertrays (also low-drag) are becoming prevalent everywhere, even to the point of being pointless design elements.

I haven't been able to post anything in a while, so this feels good to post:

Scarsdale Ford

Not a sighting so much as a shot of a great Saleen dealership. That's 4 S281's and a S331 Sport Truck. They had a Ford GT in the showroom (just in sight on the left), but it was sold within a week, and now hosts standard Ford fare. Why the relegate the Saleen stuff outside is beyond me, but I guess it got my attention.

Audi S6 Avant

The second one I've seen in 12 months, but it's strange that I've never seen them when they were new, five years ago. Intensely understated, even more so than the pre-V8 S4, so I may just have never noticed until I started taking photos.

Bentley Arnage T

They're becoming sort of common these days, now that Bentley is becoming a "must-have" brand. Just so long as they don't lose their exclusivity. I wouldn't want them becoming like the near-commodity the SL500 is. ;)

Mercedes-Benz R320 CDI

A new Mercedes diesel? In the US?? There's so few places to get diesel around here, I'm surprised someone even considered this. Still looking for the R63....

Mercedes-Benz SL600

Much love for V12's, but I never cease to surprised at what some people commute 2 miles to the train with.

Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG

This was one of the three AMG models that I hadn't captured yet. It's probably the best AMG model, aside from the Black Edition, which doesn't appear to be available in the US. I'm still looking for the R63 and E50. Was the R129 SL55/SL73 ever sold in the US?

That first picture is the best one...hell I had no idea that Saleen their version of the F150. My dad has a 1989 Saleen Mustang it looks like this one, but his is black and its supercharged.

Yes - it's a 215-horsepower 3.0-liter V6, in the R320, E320, and ML320. That's a good spot - they're just out, and being diesel makes them even rarer, and the R will surely be the rarest of the three. Obviously the E320 diesel has been out for some time, but the ML and R just got the engine.

Still looking for the R63....

That's ironic, because Mercedes is still looking for buyers. Or one buyer.

What's an E50?

No - no R129 AMG model was sold in the States. An SL60 was also made, supposedly.

well, Im off to Marbella on sunday, and im sure to see plaenty of exotics over there! :D

it may be the wrong time of year? but there must be somthing good driving about!

pics when i get back

You don't see one of these in an Idaho mall parking lot everyday. Its a Mercedes of some sort. I bet our Euro friends see this often.

Yes, the Unimog is not that rare in the UK as a commercial vehicle. Although having lived abroad for the last 6 years I never saw the new version!

That is a sexy beast. It'd probably shut up all of the stupid HUMMER drivers here, too. I wonder how much it would cost to have one shipped to the US...
