Gah chaser_fan, please take this lightly as constructive criticism on your photography:

Taking photos of cars at funny angles doesn't make them any more artistic or attractive. It is actually rather onnoxious and nauseating. Most of those shots would've been far nicer with a level horizon.

Yeah I'll take that on the chin for the Chaser photo, but because the resolution on my camera-phone is only 3.2mp I try to fill up the frame as much as poss. I think it's ok on the others, isn't it?

Thanks for the comments everyone else! Great photos of the Diablo Doug! Looks like he was putting a show on for the camera!

I'd say your style of photography makes a pleasant change - no complaints from me 👍

Does anyone know what merc is that?

No offense over the Merc, but the two Americans are far-better spots!

Thats one fine '59 Chevrolet Impala and '58 (ish) Oldsmobile 88 Fiesta...

BTW: Are classic American cars that common in Europe?

====

Edit: Spots from the past two days:

Volkswagen sold so few of the Phaetons in the US that they literally gave-up on selling them, so seeing one in any trim level (at least to me) is a treat. This one was in good shape, but I believe it to be an earlier model in the short run. However, the owner needed to clean his wheels... Bad.

...Speaking of not selling well, Toyota has been having a hard time moving the Tundra off dealer lots. This is the first time I can ever imagine Toyota actually shifting inventory like this, as I've only ever seen three new Tundras on the road here in Grand Rapids. I guess we love our American trucks too much...

1957 Ford Thunderbird.

'Nuff Said...

I'm pretty sure I saw a Mosler Raptor yesterday parked outside a small house in Chevy Chase MD, I almost had enough time to snap it but Was in a funeral procession meaning that a) I couldn't slow down too much or turn around and b) my phone was still off from when I was in the church... It looked familiar as some sort of Mosler and after spending some time on google I'm 80% sure it was a raptor. Are they even road legal? and if so how rare of a spot would this be? I got lost after the funeral when I went back trying to find it to no avail:ouch:

Isn't that the Citroen that the US banned mostly because it was so much better than everything else sold here?

I'm sorry, but classic American car in Europe or not, they aren't better than a Mercedes Type 300 Limousine.

If it is any consolation, those look like Toyota Stupidly Long Cab models, and Dodge can't sell any of those either.

That is a pretty cool spot!

On my spots today, well I did not see anything overly special today, at least for most of the day. Just a while ago, on my way to the golf course, I saw a Shelby Cobra replica sitting at a car repair shop. I was going to stop by back at it on my way home to take pictures of it, but it had already left. I was a little disappointed in that, but still neat to see one nonetheless.

You seem to stop at nothing to tell everyone how much you hate the new Tundra, or I should say Toyota. I know that Toyota isn't making the great stuff that the used to in the 90's. But every company sometime in there life span have a few years that there not doing to hot. Just remember how GM wasn't doing to hot for a few years. Toyota is just new at the whole "trying to make American pick-up trucks game" I think that as a few years past think we might seeing some changes, but we can only hope.

Anyways... how often are Lancia Delta's seen in Europe? I think there such cool looking cars.

The old Tundra was way better.

Which was my point. The old Tundra was more what it really is... a Japanese pick-up truck. The new one is all about, hey look bigger engine, bigger breaks, bigger everything... Kind of how the Dodge Ram is.

If you are talking about brakes, then I don't see why that's bad. I'd love to have bigger brakes on my car.

actually after looking around a bit more I believe it was actually the consulier I saw and not the raptor

Ah, well a Mosler isn't common by any means.

But had you'd seen a Raptor, that'd had been quite the sight. The Raptor was based at $157,980 in '98. But what you did see was, in a way, the first generation Raptor, the Consulier. The Consulier GTP was built by American Consulier Industries around late 1980's. ACI would later spawn Warren Mosler's company. The Consulier GTP sold about 100 vehicles before Warren Mosler upgraded the car into the Intruder. The Consulier GTP was powered by 2.2L Chrysler Turbo II Straight 4. When the Intruder came to be, it took on GM's 5.7L LT1 V8. Afterwards, the Raptor came along and replaced the "LT1" with a "LS1". Production ultimately ended for the car in 2000, making the idea of the car about 15 years old as the Consulier GTP was thought up in 1985.

Seeing a Consulier GTP, is rarer than any Raptor. However, it was also one of the ugliest cars ever made.

And of the 3 variations, there's no doubt the Intruder was the best looking of the bunch.

The Raptor only looked good in race form though which isn't saying much since the racing version of the Raptor was essentially, the Intruder in new light, excluding ugly split front windows.

...I'd take the Impala, but thats because I'm a crazy redneck. So what do I know? Its part of the reason why I've been posting soooo many Thunderbirds lately...

Prosthetic
You seem to stop at nothing to tell everyone how much you hate the new Tundra, or I should say Toyota.

I pick on the Tundra because it was supposed to be the grand "Game changer" according to Toyota and half of the Toyota-brainwashed press, particularly Motor Trend and Truck Trend. They say they've got the most horsepower, but its the highly expensive optional engine. They say that they tow the most, but simply put they do not. The interior and exterior design was supposed to be made for "men," but I don't know many who like it, even if it does have the all-important filing cabinet in the glove box (if you went to the debut in Chicago two years ago, you'll know what I mean).

In a world of promises, Toyota failed. Sure, the truck market shrunk up faster than most people had expected, but Toyota really didn't seem to put everything together quite right. Thats why they have come out the door with $2000 price discounts (that NEVER happens at Toyota), and then there have been the issues with the camshafts, crash tests, etc that have basically piled up to the point where many people, and I assume this includes the folks at the dealers, just have to laugh.

Its not always being negative, its pointing out the truth. Toyota screwed it up. The last Tundra was a halfway decent trucks for guys (or girls) who didn't need a REAL truck. Lets face it; GM and Ford still have this market cornered, and Nissan has done a damn-good job of scaring everyone into building something better. But when Toyota comes out the gates with this new "Messiah of trucking" and loses out to a design that is nearly three years old, thats a problem.

So, I apologize for pointing out Toyota's failures, but quite frankly, it isn't the end of the world. I do it with most companies, be they Japanese, American, or European, but its always fun to beat-up on the "bully" out on the playground once in a while...

The old Tundra was way better.

Agreed, but even I would take the current Tacoma over the previous Tundra. If memory serves, isn't the Tacoma more capable these days?

Perfect Balance
If you are talking about brakes, then I don't see why that's bad. I'd love to have bigger brakes on my car.

Heres the problem with the brakes in question: They're an option in the tow package, not standard. Standard brakes on the Tundra are completely inadequate to handle large loads, be they in the bed or on the trailer. Quite frankly, I'm surprised they didn't take a page from the GM or Ford book and just shove the huge brakes in there in the first place. If I recall the information correctly, towing anything in excess of 1000lbs with the Tundra (sans big brakes) requires trailer brakes. So, say I want to pull two jet-skis on a trailer, I'm going to need trailer brakes.

...The Silverado and Sierra? Standard equipment goes up to 2000 lbs before trailer brakes are required...

One would hope so, due to the amount of ugly strapped to the new Tacoma, but I would rather have a 4.7 V8 first gen Tundra than a current Tacoma. More power, you see.

I've always fancied the X-Runner, with the 350Z benchmarking and all. But, the last Tacoma I looked at had a really awkward seat in it (it just didn't feel "right"), so thats a big black spot on the checklist. I should take a closer look at the Nissan Frontier, as they don't seem too bad...

...Although, GM is sticking the 5.3L V8 in the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon this year. If they'd offer that with the sport pack and the stick, I'd be sold right there...

Yeah I get what you mean about Americans making the best trucks, I have no doubt in my head that they do. Since America uses them more then most other countries so I'm no surprised that where good at making something we need. My friends mom drives a 00' blue Silverado and it's a great truck. Big bed, decently reliable, not that bad on fuel. And I think it's a great looking truck, but it does have one flaw; and that it has very little room in the back and the interior is very boring.

Let's get back to good spots.

I need your help guys. Yesterday I saw a 2005/6/7 Shelby GT500E. I was completely confused when I saw it as I saw it from the rear. Instantly I thought it was a GT500, however when I got to the side I saw the extra letter on the bottom. When I saw the front I was dumbfounded, it looks like a normal Mustang GT, but with a extrusion thing (can't remember what it's called) on the hood. Can someone explain to me what a GT500E is? I can take pictures of it if needed, I know where it is parked.

Updated pictures.

Rear, I know you can't see "Shelby" but it's there, phone just blended it in.

Pretty self explanitory.

The front that confused me to no end.

did have my cam out at the time (wish i had :( ) but i saw a ferrari 456 ESTATE (wagon). it looked very strange. just whizzed past and i couldnt catch it cause the lights caught me out :irked:

Sorry, but either Ford made another Mustang, or you just caught a wanna-be Mustang GT owner.
