Gallardo might look large from some angles but as this picture shows, using the Bentley as a reference point, it's pretty small...

the bentley is the size of a small house though.the gallardo(4.3 metres) is roughly the same size as a diablo(4.470 metres)

4.3 meters - aka 169 inches - may be somewhat close to the Diablo's length of 4.47 meters (176 inches) but when you actually put it into perspective you realize the Gallardo is shorter than a Chevrolet Aveo sedan:

2006_Chevrolet_Aveo_ext_1.jpg

Furthermore, if you're going to say the Gallardo and the Diablo are "roughly the same size," then you're saying the above Aveo and the Volvo S40 are "roughly the same size" and I'm just not buying that. Again, I'll repeat: it's pretty small. For the record, the Diablo's size is more closely matched with the Murcielago, which is 180.3 inches (4.58m) long.

Having seen one of the Bentley Conti GTs in person, I have to say that they look much smaller in person than they do in pictures. The cars looks somewhat awkward in pictures, but in person their size seems to shrink and day I say the car looks somewhat muscular. I was actually kinda impressed by the car, as I had always thought they look "fat" and weird in pictures.

Also having seen three or four Gallardos, I have to say they are similar in size to a NSX, at least it somewhat looks that way. I would say the NSX is longer in length, but the Gallardo is wider and a touch taller than the NSX. Disclaimer here: the above statements about the Gallardo are just based on seeing them drive down the street and not actually standing next to a parked one; I have no idea what the physical dimensions are on either car, so my statements are based on observation of seeing cars in the wild (and many cars that are in motion).

Some more shots with Gallardos next to regular cars for perspective:

I actually think that, since you brought up the NSX comparison, it looks larger than the NSX - based on that heavy-looking rear-end versus the NSX's short unassuming one. It could also be due to the fact that the Lamborghini's styling gives it larger presence which in turn makes it appear larger. Of course, the NSX is the longer vehicle in reality. However I still think the Gallardo is a small-looking vehicle. Next to that Charger and those SLs it really looks like it could be easily hidden from view by those vehicles.

compared to the cars we get in the uk it is a rather big car (eco hatchs ftw!!) and it does have alot of room inside which aids to it feeling bigger than what you might think it is.

since you brought up the murcielago that feels like a smaller car than it really is.inside it is so small even i struggle to fit in!(no problems in a gallardo) and driving flat out it totally throws away its size and weight.

All this talk about the Gallardo! I've seen one on the highway, and I do have to say, it is rather small. I mean really, I've seen an NSX, but the NSX looks a lot bigger than the Gallardo (LENGTHWISE) The Gallardo to me is a short and stocky kind of supercar, while the NSX is more of a lean supercar. The Continental does look rather muscular, sort of like a bodybuilder in real life.

If someone is to think the Gallardo is "big", then you must think the Murcielago is a boat.
But in reality, the Gallardo sizes in about 169.3 inches with the Murcielago in at about 180.3 inches.

Now, put this into perspective. The Maserati MC12 is only 202.6 inches long, and the MC12 looks like a large car. Trust me. However, a BMW 760iL is only 203.9 inches (A VW Phaeton about the same length), and it most would agree while large, that's a bit surprising.

Another fine example of "appearence" is this. A Saleen S7 is a 188 inches long. A BMW M6 is a 191.6 inches. Not shocking enough? A Jaguar XJ Super V8 Portfolio...is 205.3 inches. This means a Saleen S7 is about as long as a Ford Shelby GT500 and a 2008 Jaguar XK. If that's not shocking enough, a Veyron is even shorter.

The reason supercars look so big though is height and width. Match a low height to a good width, and the car looks big because it's "strecthed out". Match a big height to a short width, and it's just tall, not large. You'll see, it's a matter of "trickery". Your mind percieves that the width of the car makes it big, while a tall car is ok. Match both cars up, and the mind sees differently. Now. you'll probably think "Hmm, then it's bigger because it's wider." The same trick applies. The width is also not as wide as you might think. Very few folks actually get a view where they can see the difference in supercars and your average sedan, but once you do, it's quite a thing to learn.

I've seen enough supercars in the flesh to think a car is large. But next to others, these cars actually bring out the size in other's. Now, cars like a Rolls-Royce are just large naturally. The only real way to see how big they aren't is to put them next to American pickups.

I went to Beverly Hills and Huntington Beach the last 7 days, lots of pics. Went to Ferrari of Beverly and Lambo/Lotus. Plus random pics, and my ride, the rental Burban.

The Rental. I want one. Very good SUV. GM might actually know how to build a vehicle after all!

After a long, and rather tiresome day at work, I was given word by my Grandfather that there was a car show happening not too far from my house. Apparently this Church has a pretty big showing every year, and given that we are finally in the prime of summer here in West Michigan, quite a few folks came out to show their rides off. While I wouldn’t consider this to be the best show on this side of the State (that title continues to go to our annual cruise-in that coincides with several major dealer-hosted shows), this one is a well-kept secret that had plenty of fruit to bear. Here are a few of my personal favorites:

But, first things first, this one is from the other night:

n78001441_30350669_4552.jpg

That is a ‘69 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, probably my all-time favorite car next of course to the ‘67 Chevrolet Corvette. Which leads up to the car show…

===

On our way to the show (we had to walk about a quarter-mile), we came across this beauty in the parking lot;

n78001441_30350670_4860.jpg

A lovely Ford GT500, probably an ‘07 given the plate:

n78001441_30350671_5156.jpg

(I still hate our new license plates)

Further through the parking lot, we came across this beauty:

n78001441_30350672_5440.jpg

n78001441_30350673_5742.jpg

A ‘67 Chevrolet Camaro, a pretty well kept, but obviously used example. It makes me kinda mad that Dad is still dragging his feet over our ‘68 in the barn…

n78001441_30350674_6030.jpg

A very nice Dodge Challenger, with the standard 340 if I recall correctly. I believe this was a ‘71, but I may be mistaken. There’s a nice Oldsmobile 442 there as well, but it isn’t the best example I’ve ever seen.

n78001441_30350675_6325.jpg

There was a Rat Rod “gang” there (actually, they run a custom car shop here in Grand Rapids), and they brought quite a few of their cars with them. This was one of my favorites, my brother’s as well. He, coincidentally, just got a Rat Rod tattoo…

n78001441_30350676_6623.jpg

You have to see to believe how small this was. My brother didn’t fit well in it, and he is only 5’9” or so. Still, a well-built one at that. It had a baseball as the shift knob.

n78001441_30350677_6921.jpg

One of my favorite finds of the day, a ‘70 (?) Dodge Challenger T/A with the 340 Six-Pack. Usually, I’m a Chevrolet guy, but these cars are just plain awesome!

n78001441_30350678_7226.jpg

Hooray for the Six-Pack! It was quite funny attempting to explain to my friends how the setup works, as they were befuddled by the whole idea… Kids and their computer-tuned imports…

n78001441_30350679_7536.jpg

I wonder what that was?

n78001441_30350680_7827.jpg

Hey! I know that one! Very nice, one of several there. This one was a T-Top no-less…

n78001441_30350681_8137.jpg

n78001441_30350682_8435.jpg

Probably the best car nobody knows about, the late-great Pontiac Turbo Trans-Am. The car was scary fast, was only made for one year, and wasn’t matched again until the 2002 WS6 Trans-Am, which sadly, was the last Pontiac had made.

n78001441_30350683_8729.jpg

An excellent, excellent ‘64 Pontiac Tempest GTO. This one was so plain that it actually had a column-shifter. How cool is that!?

n78001441_30350684_9030.jpg

Now here is a rare one, a ‘68 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. Most you find are generally ‘69 models, so the ‘68, and furthermore the ‘67 a quite a bit more special in my book…

n78001441_30350685_9341.jpg

The engine was worth a photo. The car? Not so much…

n78001441_30350686_9649.jpg

A rather nice ‘70 (?) Pontiac GTO ‘The Judge’, yet another personal favorite of mine. My import friends had a hard time wrapping their heads around the idea of the tachometer being built into the hood (for those who don’t know, its in the small bulge that sits in front of the driver).

n78001441_30350687_9952.jpg

n78001441_30350688_262.jpg

Yes, that was indeed a Mustang GT390, not a common sight in most cases. That would be the same kind of car driven by Steve McQueen in Bullitt, however, this one wasn’t Highland Green.

n78001441_30350689_584.jpg

Okay, I’m a VW-dork, so I had to take it… It was for sale too, I should have asked for the price, but it had a slush box, and that’s a no-no in my book…

n78001441_30350690_909.jpg

n78001441_30350691_1212.jpg

That’s one sweet ‘70 Plymouth Superbird. I don’t see them in white too often (most are purple or yellow around here…), and although it went without the HEMI, the 440ci V8 still made it a fast car. The fellow there in the blue shirt, had a hard time believing that NASCAR had to ban them, much less that these cars were capable of such outrageous top-speeds out on the track…

n78001441_30350692_1517.jpg

n78001441_30350693_1823.jpg

I was told by my brother that, “Mercury Cyclones are rare cars.”
To that I replied, “I don’t know about the Mercury cars, so yeah…”

n78001441_30350694_2121.jpg

I think I was the only person there who actually knew what a Merkur was…

n78001441_30350695_2433.jpg

When I made the guys aware of the fact that back in the day, this Typhoon was quicker than a few Italian exotics, I think I just about blew their mind…

n78001441_30350696_2746.jpg

It may be the coolest Datsun Z-car I’ve ever seen. The paint may have something to do with it… There is a DeLorean back there too. But you see those at every car show around here these days…

n78001441_30350697_3059.jpg

I usually prefer mine in white, but this ‘69 Z/28 is a beauty. Still one of my all-time favorite cars…

n78001441_30350698_3368.jpg

By this point in automotive history, the Oldsmobile 442 had lost much of its charm. But this ‘72 still looks good, and I’m sure it would be happy to leave a patch as well…

n78001441_30350699_3671.jpg

Bo and Luke were gone, and surprisingly I couldn’t find Daisy to ask how many rivers were jumped by this wild wonder…

n78001441_30350700_3981.jpg

Last but not least, on the way back to the car I came across this ‘67 Pontiac Firebird. The overwhelming majority of the first-generation F-bodies are Camaros here, so seeing this mostly original Firebird, much less an introductory ‘67 was a nice cap to the evening.

===

If this is just the start of car show season, I can’t wait for it to get into full swing…

When I saw the R8 at NYIAS, it looked considerably larger than that, but I guess that's because it was in isolation. Compared to even your A4, it looks downright diminutive! But I agree that the wheels are poor, and the R8 in grey looks much better with the carbon side panels.

The C63/SL63 photos are a nice catch, too. You're getting all sorts of sneaky these days. ;)

As for myself, not a whole lot, but it's something:

Studebaker Avanti

For some reason, I see more of these now than I ever did before. It must be one of those out-of-sight, out-of-mind things...or at least the opposite of that.

Porsche 911 C4S Targa

Just about every option possible, I think, even the Turbo wheels and fugly color. I may have been wrong about orange looking universally bad, but it definitely looks wrong on a 911.

Chevrolet Vega Cosworth

Neat little car. Not in mint condition or anything, but seeing "Cosworth" on an American car is always nice, even if it did arrive after the muscle car era.

Dodge Dart Swinger

I was hoping for a Demon, but this is neat, too. This and the Vega were together headed somewhere. There are a few classic car meets around, so I should probably start looking for them. It should be fun to hang out with like-minded people for once.

i somehow doubt a ferrari dealership would sell a car so distasteful, so im presuming its a where the light is coming in from that side of the picture.

plus you can see an all red reflection on the door of the maser..

Well i'm new to this thread and i'm not a good photographer either so don't blame me for my low quality post.I'll try to improve.... :nervous:

Well its not exactly new,but it was quite recent.

Photo of a Ferrari 360 Modena in the background (can actually see the red blur)

Photo of a AMG CLS55 in the background

A more recent photo. This time its a Honda Civic Type RR (or is it a body kitted civic?)

Anyways, sorry if it was bad.I was totally unprepared and have to capture it with my fathers camera phone.

Nah,it was just a 360 Modena Spyder. The car was going quite fast,so maybe when i capture it,the photo looks quite blurry.Maybe it was just a normal CLS500.Ah never mind, first time i did these things....sorry if the image was that bad.And thanks for the comment.I really appreciate it :)

I saw so many nice cars on the weekend i lost count, i reckon i saw about 30 porsche caymans, 20 new Jag XK's & XKR's about 3 DB7's, 3 M6's and about 40 911's including this one which was the only 'good' car i could get a photo of:(
877038104_ea82a921b7.jpg

Some of you probably don't believe me but most of the time these cars were on the opposite site of the motorway or the road and not stationary.
I should be able to show you soon some pics of an R8 i saw a couple weeks ago, soon.:D

I know these arent in the UK, but here's the hamann one compared to other cars. The first picture makes it look large, but the next picture make it looks like a Lotus Elise sized car!
