Just out of plain intrest, when I was taking the photos of the cars, I somewhat felt guilty. I don't know why, I just felt guilty that I was perhaps doing something wrong. Does anyone else get this feeling or is it something I should just ignore?
Ignore it. You are doing anything wrong, and the only time you should be worried is when some douche in a Mercury Cougar starts following you.

Is that a BMW Aztek Mk. II that I see?

No pics, as the car wasn't particularly good or today, but on Monday I saw a Suzuki Samurai. It was notable both in that it had not a spot of rust on it, and that it had a decal on the rear window that said "This Side Up," causing me to laugh uncontrollably for several seconds.

One of the main probelms I have is often getting the camera to turn itself on quick enough. Also taking photos of cars heading towards myself I find quite difficult too. Any tips?

There are several things you can do about not turning on fast enough... like always keeping it on if you think you might see something... of course this drains battery quickly but alas, it's the best suggestion. If it has an auto-off feature just keep pressing 'zoom out' and that overrides it. As far as cars heading towards you, you can always do what I do and make crazy U-turns in the middle of the road, but if that doesn't work I strongly suggest aiming the camera where the car is going to come and then waiting. The camera will focus on the road but that's okay; the blur will look kind of cool when the car's in the shot. Best wishes.

New A4!!!!!!!!!!! Stay away from America and don't destroy my resale value even further!!!!!!!!

Is everyone aware that the A4 has had FOUR generations exist in the last seven years???? in '01, mine was out... '02-'04 was second-gen... '05-'07 was third... and here we are with the '08. Fourth. It's ridiculous. Mind you in the same period of time, Saab has had ONE 9-5.... which BTW is now in its tenth year without major redesign.

Spots today:

International MXT - the most valuable and craziest of International's "extreme trucks" line.

Ferrari Dino GTS... only around 1,300 of those manufactured; only built from '72 to '74... I've only ever seen one Dino on the road (three years ago!), and it was the more-common hard-top Dino GT, so this is my first-ever GTS. Wowwie!

👍

Great shots as usual Doug. Well congrats on your GTS find and might I add, the car looks great even if the color looks a bit odd. Also, International MXT looks humongous!!!!! Even the house next to it looks small compared to it. Also, the Psychedelic V8 Vantage shot looks really artistic. :)

I think these shots show exactly that argument about Ferrari's on-road presence. Look at the first shot of the parked Ferrari - it looks dull. The shots of it moving show the power of this design.

And that Caterham is hot, as usual. If only they were legal here...

Venari? :scared:

Anyway thanks for the support. 👍

Thanks Doug, I can't wait to get out and about to spot some cars! Your right about the U-Turn thing, I wouldn't be able to do that as I don't drive :( Thanks again for the tips 👍

I always just keep my camera on. I think it has caused issues with my last two cameras though as they currently both suffer from the same focusing issue. Let me know if your Canon encounters the same problem at any point, Doug!

Thanks for the kind words! Best wishes!

The MXT is absolutely HUGE and in retrospect I wish I had gotten some other stuff in the shot for perspective... that Volvo behind it is as good as it gets unfortunately. Unmistakably gigantic; I originally came up BEHIND it and was trying to figure out why there was a semi-truck (lorry for UK?) was parked in this neighborhood -- honestly.

Actually, the Canon turns on so fast that I just keep it off. The button is kind of little and honestly the hardest part about turning it on is pressing the button with my large fingers (:))... after that it's on before you can even hold it up to take the photo.

Actually I'm ashamed to admit it but following the car I didn't get emotional at all and I knew EXACTLY what I was behind -- that car desperately needs a color change. Owner must love it but I wouldn't be happy unless mine was red or yellow... those wheel arches and that INCREDIBLY GOOD design just beg for a look-at-me color.

BTW... is it just me or do I see MUCH more interesting cars in CO than Atlanta??? I would NEVER see a Dino in Atlanta... or an International MXT parallel parked next to a Volvo... they might not be as outright common but I'll take Denver over Atlanta any day -- I'll never forget the time I saw three F430s in five minutes in Atlanta -- seen one in Denver the last three weeks total and I wouldn't trade Denver for Atlanta at all right now!!!

I'll take either of the two please. :sly: Both have much better cars than in the place I live.

True, it would work infinitely better in another color - maroon or dark blue would be my pick, though - but there's still a difference between the parked shot, and the two where it's driving.

If your camera is on the whole time, it is always focusing on something. If you're walking around, moving at all or anything is moving infront of you, the autofocus will always try to sharpen one thing. As you can imagine, having your camera on for long periods of time wears it out compared to having to focus once to take one photo.

There is also the question of continuous autofocus versus one-time focus: In my camera, I have the option for it to keep refocusing on the object, or focus once when I half-depress the button. I find the latter better, since it allows me to pre-focus, and determine the exact time I want to shoot - with the continuous mode, it might choose that very moment to focus again.

Ok people, I promised something special, and here's a preview. Even I didnt think I'd be seeing something this rare today.

It's numero dos, ladies and gents. Full update to come soon.

oh oh oh i know who owns that and ive been in it! and its not standard (slightly modified)

he also has 2 spykers,a zonda, a Ferrari 250 Testarossa (which does get driven on the street) and a ton of other cars.

I agree. 👍 The Dino really does need a stand out color like red or yellow. The silver on the one you saw just looks a bit out of place on the Dino. It really needs a brighter color to show off the very curvy design.

Trip to London started off walking around Leicester Square and the like doing nothing much, having lunch etc. Then we went to park lane in hope of me seeing some exotics (as it is a very rich area). Walking past 'the ritz' hotel, this was outside (check that plate!)
P1010179.jpg

We got to the dorchester hotel and I couodnt see anything from behind the hedge, and lost hope. Until I saw a guy's camera flash, pointing at something very low down. I walked around the corner and this was the scene:
P1010181.jpg

I was totally shocked as I thought the car was based in scotland, but snapped these pics anyway, we nicknamed it the 'coneigsegg' :D

Also, parked a couple of spaces to the left, was a drophead coupe:

Then in a dealer down the street, I spotted this in the back:

Turns out it was sold. ('sold' sign next to it)

Great day, and I feel very lucky to have spotted these.

Lotus of London always had good stuff when I was there, but I'm really impressed with the Dorchester spot. I didn't manage anything that cool.
