There's a very nice car showroom near to where my parents live.
I've been there a few times to drool, but they wouldn't let me have a test drive :(
There are generally a couple of Enzos or SLRs for sale in there along with various other expensive pieces of kit.

click here to visit their website.
If you click on show all you will see their current stock list.

And for those of you who don't believe that I've been there, look up their address on a map. About 8 miles away is a town called Reigate where my parents live.

EDIT: Just thought I'd mention this isn't the showroom I work near - that one's in Sevenoaks

Hey pimpin_t - long time no see. What ever happened about your brother (?) brother-in-law coming to HK?

Anyway, to the point in question. What is the number plate on the Benters? Is that Middle Eastern?

Yeh he went over on a six month contract. Found it to be even more expensive and has come back for 6 months. I think if he gets offered another six months he will go back. He also came back with million & one gadgets.

Somewhere concerning the aerospace business, I presume, as it is on airport property.
And it's a wee bit more than $130,000 when you put it in Canadian dollars.

An airline pilot perhaps? They make loads of money.

That's about it. Pics later. I'm going to put all the Porsche pics together just to show you how many there are in HK. The pics count for about 40% of the Porsches I saw in that time too, as the rest were all Boxsters, Caymans, standard looking Carreras and Cayennes - I'm going to be sick if I see another Porsche! Send me some DB9s M5Power!

Take my DB9s - but don't send back your Porsches - I have more than my fair share of that poo. That is - unless you have a 996 GT2, in which case please - gimme.

Wow. Phenomenal photograph. The plate on the Flying Spur does indeed appear to be Middle Eastern based on the writing on its left - it's certainly not British - but I've no guesses as to where it's from.

How about this sighting today:

ahr-esp2.jpg

August 23, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

Interesting story about this one. I was driving along in the area where I normally take photographs and noticed this vehicle coming towards me. I'd never seen one before but I immediately recognized it as a Panoz Esperante. For those of you from overseas, the Esperante is sort of like an American TVR except without any of the badass street cred.

Anyway - it was coming towards me and I flipped a highly illegal and marginally dangerous U-turn to catch up. The U-turn was so sharp that it took my camera and threw it against the car-side door. This happens a lot and I wasn't too worried. The driver - a woman in her 20s who looked stunningly like Rachel Bilson - became acutely aware I was photographing her the second I made the U-turn and parked in a bank parking lot. When she went in the bank I begin taking photos - not one of which turned out clear. Seems when I made the turn, I temporarily wrecked my camera's Auto Focus, so all the other pictures of the vehicle turned out a lot like this:

ahr-esp1.jpg

August 23, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

Still folks - crappy pictures or not, it's a freaking Panoz Esperante. Every year they sell between 80 and 170 vehicles, and it's only been out six years - so there's less less than 750 nationwide. Says Pistonheads, "Ferrari makes more cars in a month than Panoz does in a whole year."

Well, people probably don't need to wonder why when they find out its price and that it has a Ford engine.

Nice car in coupe version, esp. that special version they made (JP something).

Today, saw a Saleen S281 like this.
000771-200512-000007big.jpg

That's probably the only Mustang bodystyle I'd buy from the last gen. excluding the Cobra R (with engine modifications to follow of course).

He was going the other way though, and I couldn't catch him fast enough.:guilty:

Haha! Anytime. Actually my colleague is from the Bronx.

Ah! Then it's do-able. I should be back before lunch is over, right? HK is a city everyone should go to someday, anyway.

Yes - and though harry said he counts them inside shows too, I personally don't - if you did that, it'd be a lot easier. Plus, if you did that, I would've already seen a Veyron! In my view, the ONLY cars that count are in public or private, just so long as they're not on display or being serviced. I would even count a sighting in a car dealer's parking lot, with my sole stipulation being that the vehicle had private plates. But if it's on display or being serviced, then no way.

I think I'm being misunderstood here. I don't mean shows like the NYIAS or Geneva. I mean shows like local gatherings, club meets...stuff like that. In those cases, nothing's really inside anyway.

But dealer showrooms (direct or specialist) are out. At least for me. Too easy.

I swear I'm right - I'm not sure why you think the DS was manu-matic (the article doesn't state that) but Teletouch is more of a push-button gear selector that anything else. Neither are automatic transmissions with a manual shifter, which is what Tiptronic is. Really - the 968 was the first! (and the 911 which debuted the feature that year also)

I think the DS is the first because it is the first:

Wikipedia
Throughout its model lifetime, the DS managed to remain ahead of its time. It featured power disc brakes, a hydropneumatic suspension including an automatic levelling system and variable ground clearance, power steering and a semi-automatic transmission. A fiberglass roof reduced weight transfer. Inboard front brakes (as well as an independent suspension) reduced unsprung weight. Different front and rear track widths and tire sizes reduced the understeer typical of front-engined and front-wheel drive cars.

Just ask LJK Setright. Until the day he died, he proclaimed it was the most modern car ever made.

I know, I know. Read, read...words, words. But it's all in there. <CTRL-F> to search.

The Prowler is one of the few cars that just looks awful in silver (a color any other car can be safe in). The louder the color, the better the Prowler looks.
Yeah - totally agree. I'm not sure the theory behind ordering one in silver - though the vehicle did have Rotary Club plates so maybe the old guy driving it couldn't see himself in a red, yellow, or purple car.

I think the WRX looks best in WRC blue, but it's just not me. I had to have something gray. Maybe that makes me an old man, too... :grumpy: I think it has to do with wanting the car, but not the attention. As if a ridiculously oversized wing on one car and open wheels on the other car can be features hidden by painting it grey.

M5Power
If I see another DB9, I'll throw up.

Yeah, but it's just so nice looking. :)

You wish. :P

Outside or inside an auto show should be fair game. A showroom or dealership is probably not. ;) But if you see something on the ultra-rare list (classics, 959, McLaren F1, XJ220, Skyline GT-R in the US, etc.) then I'm all for it, no matter where it's found.

There you go then - XJ220 (took it a couple of moths ago, but hey)...

fezzasez9.jpg

And there's three more Ferraris 360M, 360M Spider, 550M (Three colours covered in that one)

I know, I know, I don't have a picture. But I saw a Maybach yesterday at the local Bertucci's restaurant. First one I've seen in the metal.

I went down the old favourite location, the footbridge, today and saw some nice cars but nothing really special...

- Red Peugeot 205 GTi (Common everywhere else but only the 2nd I've seen in HK)
- Red Ferrari 360 Modena on the back of a break down truck
- Yellow Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale (Seen it before though)
- Red Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
- An old Bentley Turbo R in white (Nod to M5Power last week)
- A hatrick of AMG SL55 (I love this car)
- Aston DB7 GT in silver (Never really liked this car)
- Various Porsche 911s in various guises (Highlight was a yellow wannabe 993 GT2)
- A few different Skyline varients (No GT-Rs)

That's about it. Pics later. I'm going to put all the Porsche pics together just to show you how many there are in HK. So, I tell a lie. I did in fact see a GT-R, but I've seen it only a couple of days ago so it doesn't really count...

why does the tow truck put on an additional licence plate on the Ferrari? Is it the tow truck's licence plate? Weird.

Indeed - I still concur on the dealer showrooms bit - but I still disagree on shows. Anyplace where cars gather with intent to be displayed is off-limits. Of course, I say that now and yet my own sightings for today don't reflect that viewpoint, but the point is, I don't count shows. Either way, to each his own - I'm not sure if "car spotting" has hard and fast rules. :D

I think the WRX looks best in WRC blue, but it's just not me. I had to have something gray. Maybe that makes me an old man, too... :grumpy: I think it has to do with wanting the car, but not the attention.

Fair - I wouldn't want ten zillion tickets either. It's also a good reason to consider a Ferrari in a color other than red or yellow. I mean, a silver 575M will never get noticed as a Ferrari. I'm not sure though - if I bought an STi, with all its power, or paid $200k for a 575, I think I'd want to get noticed. :D I'd probably get the vehicles in blue and red respectively - but I'd probably eventually regret it.

You wish. :P

I'm not sure - she became acutely aware I was photographing her almost immediately. Most people never even notice. That sort of thing made me think she was used to being photographed. The car had Colorado plates but given the celebrities who hang out in Colorado, it could've been anyone. Or it could've been no-one. Who knows.

Indeed - I've seen that done before, even in the US, though it's not the law here. Fantastic pictures as always, chaser_fan! :D

Well folks, the first of my last two evenings in Denver before leaving for college yields the following cars:

ahs-4.jpg

August 24, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

Needless to say, I yearned for more. I had a date tonight but afterwards I headed down to the three exotic dealers in the city: Ferrari/Bentley/Maserati Denver, Lamborghini Denver, and Paragon Motors, which is an incredibly high-end car dealer offering sales and service - their motto being "you bought it, now drive it." I didn't expect to see anything too special, but I was quite surprised to see this vehicle:

ahs-300sl1.jpg

ahs-300sl2.jpg

August 24, 2006 - Littleton, Colo.

It's at a dealer so for me, it doesn't count - if anyone asks if I've seen one, I'd say no - but I figured I'll probably never see one outside a dealer (or maybe a show) so I might as well photograph it while I can. Plus I wanted to show it to you guys. The vehicle was silver over red and had an asking price of $499,000. Had I seen it on the street it would've been the second most valuable car I'd ever seen (following the ~$550k 365 GTS/4 I saw being driven in Aspen). A sign on the vehicle proclaimed that it was one of 1,450 ever produced. Though I'd love it to be sold into the Denver market and driven often, my guess is it'll be sourced elsewhere and garaged as these things aren't for sale too often. Regardless, it's a fantastic vehicle and was in great shape. Pablo Picasso owned one, for god's sake.

Lamborghini Denver had a couple of Lamborghinis, and Ferrari/Bentley/Maserati had a good set of cars including a few 575s, a Vanquish, and a rare Maserati GranSport. Paragon also had a 996 GT2, the first one I've ever seen in person, which you can see in one of the photos of the 300SL.

Ok, do today I was riding down to the local Cosi (because I'mso hip) and a pack of Corvettes is going by in the other direction. And in it's midst I spy a Grand Sport Convertible. Also yesterday I saw a new M6 and 2 M5's chase each other off of a stoplight.

Just seeing the car(S) like that reminds me of "gone in 60 seconds"

A few good ones out today:

An SC430 and a red C5 in the backround

And for sheer randomness, the CNN weather truck (only 5 in the US)

Also saw a old alfa , maroon prowler, 2 celica convertibles, a dodge SS/T( the V-10 one with stripes)

why does the tow truck put on an additional licence plate on the Ferrari? Is it the tow truck's licence plate? Weird.

It's the law in the UK (though I'm not referring to the pictures). The rear displayed plate must be that of the driven vehicle - be it a car towing a caravan, an articulated lorry or, as above, a car being towed by a tow truck.

It's not just the police attention, it's the attention from meatheads who want to race. I currently get enough crap as it is. If I could have a fleet of cars (like, 5) so I wouldn't be stuck with the same car every day, then the STi would have been blue. And any Ferrari I could afford would be red. :D

Hey - don't call us meatheads! All we want to do is see the capabilities of your vehicle! I rev at every Evo I get next to at a light. My Volvo is quick, but it's not that quick (or anywhere near). Once I came up next to an MR at a light and revved. I power-braked and took off at least a car-length ahead. I was in heaven. He then shot past me so fast I can't describe it. I used to race at the dragstrip, so I know quick. This was absurd. For the record I've never revved at an STi - though that's because I've never been next to one at a light - but I'm sure it's the same deal. I imagine it'd get boring for you, but for us (the non-STi-owning crowd) it's fun. :D

The last group of sightings from Denver:

aht-mbcc.jpg

August 24, 2006 - Denver, Colo.

Next stop Atlanta - sightings will be sporadic at best (but assuredly at least once a week) until next spring, when I return to Denver for another summer. :) The last time I was in Atlanta I saw four Phantoms, a 360, a CL65, and a Maybach in the space of an hour so I'm pretty stoked. I guess we'll see what happens...

EDIT: one thing I'm ready to get away from:

"High altitude gas."

Having watched far too many episodes of 'MTV Cribs' i guess they were all black or white and "running on 24's"

I got lucky my dad took my to Acura Smithtown yesterday, On the lot they just got a few Acura RDXs

Man they look GEWD!

My friend's dad now owns a new VE Commodore SV6 in red, which looked great in the carpark but I also sighted the new Dodge Caliber as the brand is being reconstructed in Australia.

today I saw:
2006 porsche cayman
two Mercedes SL500's
A ferarri F40 (or F50 not sure) !!!! it was awesome I freaked out
range rover
Sorry No pictures I didnt have a camera with me

M5, I'm starting to think you're seeing the same DB9 Volante and 2 SL65 AMGs.

That, or your fellow citizens like to follow the same style. :P

but I also sighted the new Dodge Caliber as the brand is being reconstructed in Australia.

I saw 5 of 6 calibers in a Chrysler dealer here yesterday, Chrysler don't even meantion them on their Australian website.
