Right. So is the Maserati 4200GT and Mercedes SL and I've seen enough of those that I'm completely indifferent to them. I've seen a total of 7 360 Modenas despite living in the middle of nowhere. I've seen 1 Lotus Esprit.

The Maserati Coupe and Mercedes SL-class, excepting the SL65, are neither rare nor valuable (certainly not compared to the 360 Modena).

Even then it's hard to tell. Aren't Integra's still near the top of the list of most stolen cars? Is it any wonder seeing stock/intact ITR's is a rarity in the US (despite GTP having three sitings in as many weeks)?

They used to top those lists, but I think it's changed now; Integras are getting rarer and rarer. It always seems weird to me when I consider the fact that you could still get a new Integra as recently as 2001. As for stock ITRs in the US - I think about 6,000 ITRs came here all told, and at least two or three owners have kept them stock, so they're are but not impossible. :D

Ferrari 308 - gotta be a fake. Who de-badges their Ferrari? Pretty good kit, though.
Maserati Spyder - these are becoming almost as popular as Cayman's. This is an old one, isn't it? 2002?

... As for the Spider, I think it's recent - the plates suggest it's a 2006, as New York is up to the DZA series, and the plates on the Spider are in the DRK series. Obviously he could've registered it used, but I wouldn't count on it.

EDIT: speaking of plates, the 308 is running New York Historical plates - it must have been manufactured in 1981 or prior. Therefore either it's NOT a fake, or it's an old fake. I'm betting on the former.

Here is one for the BMW experts

I saw this last week or so and snapped a picture quickly, is this some sort of rare or special E30? or just some fake Alpina badged thing?

I don't think it is.
The rims aren't usual Alpina style as Alpina does not build their BMWs with stock factory BMW wheels.
Not to mention, I can't find anything on Alpina building 325is's, only 2.3 models known as C2s.

It could be a normal E30 325is, just with a few Alpina modifications. That seems probable to me. 👍

Since rarity is null in void, as any individual version of the Esprit is probably 1/50th as common as the Modena (I can gurantee they haven't built 850,000 4200GT's or SL's), I fail to see why price is a determining factor. Brand new or slightly used Lamborghini Gallardo's are worth about $175,000-215,000. Lamborghini Diablo's are worth roughly half that. Does that mean the Diablo has less wow factor than the Gallardo? Their aren't that many more Gallardo's on the road than Diablo's, so it must be the case.
And either way, and you may be different, but when I see a car on the road I don't judge how cool it is by how much I think it cost. The Nissan 350Z is a far cooler car than the Ford 500, for example.

Well, based on your logic, the Volvo V90 is something you should wet yourself over. By the way, it's called the Maserati Coupe in the US, not the 4200GT.

Well, based on your logic cars are only cool based on how much they cost and not in any way related to how rare they are. So I guess the Ford GT500 would be the definition of greatness in your book when compared to, say, an '03 SVT Cobra.
And I know it is called the Coupe. But I'd be damned if you could fid me a real example of a difference between the Coupe and 4200GT.
Besides, I never said rarity was the only reason I think cars are cool anyways.

I saw quite a lot the last two days, and ive got a fair few pics at last.
Went to Santa Pod raceway for a day and a bit to watch the flame and thunder event.
on the way there parked up at cambridge services was a black Murciélago:

at santa pod in the car park, a ford F150:

a lovely old beetle:

a sexy soarer:

A couple of gorgeous old girls, '69 super bee and Charger:
img1490hy2.jpg

but one of the best bits of today was being deafened by Fireforce 3, it ran around mid 6's!:
img1479pe1.jpg

:D
there were louder Top Fuel dragsters there though, the fastest, this one ..V..
img1469jk3.jpg

ran a 5.066 @ 290.32mph! You could feel the earth shake, your ribcage being rattled and your ears bleed as it tore off down the strip! Such an awesome feeling, cant understand why people bought earguards!

M5Power
But... I never said that. Basically you should just realize that the Esprit is crap.
I seem to recall:

and

The difference being that the Ferrari is actually worth money. That makes it wow.
Kinda makes it sound very much like you only think cars are cool if they are expensive.
I'd love to here you explain why the Esprit is bad too, because cars like the Lamborghini Countach aren't very good either (one could even say that they were "crap") yet I'm sure you find them to be pretty cool.

So has anyone actually seen anything good today?

All right, ladies and gents, here's my Saturday. Less and less cool cars are showing up as it gets cooler and cooler, but they're still around in force - just not like they were in September and early October. All photos taken November 4, 2006, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Day starts off this way:

cls-amg.jpg

At the time of this photo I'd seen three including this one; it's four now as I saw one later in the day. I only took the photo because I just love that license plate. Alabama.

Next:

maybach.jpg

Maybach 57S. Saw it the last two weeks and posted it then too. The owner just cruises the area on Saturdays. It's amazing how little these things stand out. Two people know what they are: me, and valet parkers. Right after that:

rolls.jpg

Posted that a few weeks ago too. Florida plates. It's a rare late-model Silver Seraph, one of the last "true" Rolls-Royces.

supra.jpg

Not bad. MkIV Supras aren't too rare in Atlanta (I saw two today), but in Denver they're a million to one, so I get really excited when I see them. Tennessee tags.

phantom-1.jpg

See this every week, as per usual; the owner lives in an expensive hotel in Atlanta.

spider.jpg

Not bad. They're everywhere though. Saw a white one later today, but couldn't get a photo off - they're very cool cars. Next up:

cobra.jpg

A fake, presumably. Do real ones even exist?! :D

Speaking of fake ones, this is something I've only seen before on three occaisions:

cl65.jpg

Every time I'd see an S65 and an SL65 on one day in Denver, I'd look high and low for CL65s, trying to complete the trifecta, but I never did. Today, I saw all three. I only got a picture of the SL, though:

sl65.jpg

Still - all three in one day! I also saw the Maybach 57S, so I think I saw every use of the 6-liter biturbo V12! Next up:

360spider.jpg

I love getting to see these things up close. Last week a Gallardo was parked in this spot, and it's awesome to just walk around them once. Parked supercars are second to none. Right next to it:

mini.jpg

Soon afterwards, I saw this, though getting a good photo was tough because it went by quickly:

db9.jpg

Still haven't seen a Vanquish. Right after that came this:

mustang.jpg

Badges said Mach 1, but in a slightly different manner than most Mach 1 Mustangs. Not a fan of muscle cars, but I thought this one might be cool so I photographed it.

Speaking of Mustangs, saw these two today:

saleen.jpg

saleen2.jpg

I remember when I was younger I thought Saleen Mustangs were amazingly cool. Not so anymore. I also thought these were cool:

nsx-1.jpg

I still think that though. :D Minutes after the NSX:

viper.jpg

I will always love the look of the Viper - the '92-'02, the current one, the old coupe, the new coupe... it's gorgeous.

rolls2.jpg

This Rolls was sitting a couple of cars behind the Viper. Not rare, not valuable, but a Rolls, so I photographed it. Boring, but hey. Seconds later:

g500.jpg

This one seemed so legit it was scary - just like a wagon, except with a convertible top - even the wheels and the tire cover were the same as the regular one. South Carolina plates.

mdx.jpg

New MDX. Wasn't aware they were out yet. Originally I thought it was an RDX, but it was pretty big. Very cool car - I really like how it looks.

Next up was the highlight of the day:

456.jpg

I get disappointed every time I see this car. In fact, I consider June 30 one of the most disappointing days of my life. After calling this the most beautiful Ferrari ever for some time, on June 30 I finally saw one and had to pick a new favorite. "Boring" is a better term to describe the car. Yes it's awesome, but it's nowhere near as nice as I thought from pictures. This is only the second one I've ever seen.

Saw two of these today:

8ser.jpg

The other was white.

Saw two of these today:

maybach2.jpg

Very cool, but, as I said: me and valets. Everyone else walks right by. And the big finish:

cars-1.jpg

Flying Spur - Phantom - Arnage

A close up of the Arnage:

arnage.jpg

A close up of the Phantom:

phantom2-1.jpg

The Phantom belongs to Atlanta-based rapper T.I. My brother knew who he was; maybe some of you guys will. It's the best-looking Phantom I've ever seen (minus the wheels). The two-tone was fabulous, particularly those exact colors. Gorgeous car.

Can't not do the Bentley collage:

conti-gts.jpg

I actually saw five Continentals and a Flying Spur today, but declined to photograph two of the Continentals; the Flying Spur can be seen in the Phantom/Arnage shot.

That's my Saturday! Not sure if I'm doing this next Saturday or not, but I'll definitely be back on the 18th - then it's back to Denver for Thanksgiving, meaning I might see a Continental GT if I'm lucky (in the winter, the supercars all go into their garages in Denver). 👍

Nice. I never knew there was a soft top. I'm assuming that was an actual Geländewagen and not a G-class, yes?

No - the badges on the rear said "G500" and the wheels and styling indicate a W463 model ('90-'05) from the most recent period ('97 and on). Here's a shot of a similar vehicle I took in June in Aspen where you can see the badges a bit:

028-gconv.jpg

These cars were Europe-only, but there was a dealer in New Mexico called Europa which sold them in the states for a long time. I wouldn't be too surprised if the Mercedes dealer would've sourced one for an eager buyer or two from 2002 to 2005. The only actual Gelandwagen I've ever seen is a ~1988 model, which I saw in Aspen a few minutes after the above sighting in this post.

I love the fact that Minis are rarer than Phantoms in Atlanta :) Of course, they haven't been sold there for about 40 years, but it's nice to know my daily driver is a worthy sighting elsewhere in the world.

Another great post, but you completely blanked possibly the most achingly pretty car ever created by man.

God. If I took a photo of one of those every time I saw it, we'd be here all day. I'm not a huge XK8 fan, either - the design went waaaay too long.

 Indeed - Minis are rarer than Phantoms anywhere in the States. I believe the Mini was officially imported for a small period, in left-hand drive, but this was a right-hooker, which makes it even rarer. It's a very interesting car to see, and really stands out among all the SUVs. I mean, you can see it parked next to the Xterra, which is only a midsize, and its roof only barely comes up to the Xterra's windowline!

Just how uncommon is the Lambo LP640 anyway?

Less and less. ExoticSpotter is absolutely flooded with them. I still haven't seen one, but given the size of the Lamborghini dealer in Atlanta, I will eventually.

You photograph the boring Rolls but totally ignore the SSR!

Same, but if I photographed every relatively rare car we'd be here all day too. And trust me - you'd get a lot of photos of stuff no-one cares about, like the Volvo S90, the Buick Regal Olympic Edition, the Jeep Grand Cherokee TSi... I made the executive decision that the SSR wasn't cool enough to be photographed.

If you want to see something really rare, check the second photo of the Saleen Mustang - there's a W124 E-class coupe in the background. The convertible is the really rare version, but the coupe isn't exactly easy to see. But then, in Atlanta, no Mercedes is rare.

I hear ya.

Nice :)

If you ever see a 1994-1996 Camry coupe, catch it for me :) That's a really really rare coupe.
