The Landcruiser is sold here as that Toyota and also as a Lexus LX450/LX470.

Really?

Is it much different from the Landcruiser itself?

I hear ya.

Nice :)

If you ever see a 1994-1996 Camry coupe, catch it for me :) That's a really really rare coupe.

I see '94-'96 Camry coupes every so often - the really rare one was the SE model, which used a 3-liter V6. I saw one of them last Saturday and was stunned. Horrible shape though.

No - it's quite a bit more expensive and has slightly more stuff, but it's little changed, especially from the exterior. In the states, these are our truck-based Toyota SUVs:

Toyota 4Runner

In Europe, you guys get the Lexus GX470 as a Toyota, and a smaller version of the Land Cruiser (the Prado). In the states, the 4Runner and GX470 sit on the same platform and are considered mechanical twins by many sources, though the 4Runner offers both a V6 and a V8, while the GX470 offers just a V8. Then we get the Land Cruiser and LX470, too. We get no 3-door version of any of the above SUVs, which is contrary to the UK, who gets a 3-door Land Cruiser Prado (aka GX470).

EDIT: by the way, the LX is in its second generation. It came out in 1996 and was sold all the way until 1997 before being redesigned along with the Land Cruiser in 1998. The first-gen looked so much like the Land Cruiser it even used the same wheels, albeit with Lexus badges. Those are rare:

Merrily, I doth proclaim that to be hideous!

I dunno - those wheels are actually pretty rare, and otherwise it's just pretty boring. I'll try to get a shot of one in the next few days; a friend of mine (in Denver) has one. I personally think they're for suckers since a Land Cruiser is notably less and offers almost all the same stuff.

Just how uncommon is the Lambo LP640 anyway?

That's in Europe though where most of them are being spotted because they're being finished and taking less time to find their owners.

The US is only getting maybe a 100 or so. Either way, I'll be waiting for the next person to spot a Nera model.

This past week I saw a black S55 on the highway; it had gunmetal colored wheels and was pretty sweet looking.

Yesterday, I saw my first CLS55 and I must say the magazine reviews are right and by that I mean, Mercedes has definitely made itself a looker in the car. BTW, it was in black.

Between, the S55, CLS55, and SLR spottings of late, I can now say I am a little bit bigger of a fan of the Mercedes lineup. I had always been a little in different to some of the stuff out now; but after actually seeing the cars, I have gained some respect for them.

Today, on my way home from College Station, I spotted a yellow Elise. The first one I have seen on the road, but the second I have seen period. I am a big fan of the car.

Yeah, the S600 looks like ****, but it looks a little different so thought I'd throw it up there. I actually kind of like the CL55, though; but of course the AMG one looks a lot better.

And ITR's are always fun to see.

EDIT: speaking of plates, the 308 is running New York Historical plates - it must have been manufactured in 1981 or prior. Therefore either it's NOT a fake, or it's an old fake. I'm betting on the former.

I see it every so often now, and the careful way he drives it implies that it's not fake. I'll try to get a good profile shot and compare it to a known real photo.

A fake, presumably. Do real ones even exist?! :D

Yes, but only at Barrett-Jackson. ;)

Badges said Mach 1, but in a slightly different manner than most Mach 1 Mustangs. Not a fan of muscle cars, but I thought this one might be cool so I photographed it.

It's legitimate badging for a 1969 Mach1 (first year of production), but without the optional aero kit:

http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-1960-1969/1969-Ford-Mustang-Mach-1-Front-Angle-Maroon-sy.jpg

so it may be the real thing. I'm used to the 1970's badging, too, so I had to double-check. Comparing the two, I like the '69 version better.

This one seemed so legit it was scary - just like a wagon, except with a convertible top - even the wheels and the tire cover were the same as the regular one. South Carolina plates.

 You have to be kidding me (see bottom of post).

CCX

Yeah, but for all sorts of different reasons. :P

I made the executive decision that the SSR wasn't cool enough to be photographed.

I sort of do the same thing. If I've posted it before, chances are I'll skip it. If it's really cool (same Enzo, for example), I'll shoot it every chance I get. But despite the fact that there's not much going by, I can't make u-turns on every highway.... I should really find a good place to sit and watch, though.

Stock, and in black! I've never actually seen a black ITR. Were any sold in white in the US?

So I mentioned something about that G500. I had a bunch of semi-interesting SUVs from this past weekend that I wanted to put together in one post, but I haven't gotten around to editing down all of them. When M5Power posted that ragtop G500, I thought he had stolen my camera. I had never heard of this thing before and thought I saw some bizzare conversion (like the 300C convertible). Anyway....

Mazda Mazdaspeed Protege - another corner-of-the eye finds. In the dark, no less. Not expensive, not incredibly rare, but a hard-to-find fantastic front-driver.
Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG - uh, just helps the segue from "small sedan" to "Mercedes SUV".
Mercedes-Benz G500 ragtop - only mention I can find outside of the original 1980's version:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/MediaNav/articleId=102468/firstNav=Gallery/photoId=14806
Even though Edmunds talks about it there, and even has a photo, it does not list it in their used car database. Not even Google has valid info (or photos). All mentions of the short-wheelbase version refer to the German army.

I've seen them come in black, white, and yellow.

White only for 1997 and 1998, from 1999 to 2001, black and yellow were only available. 99-00 models are not the same shade of black as 2001 models, however. Also fairly interesting, Canada never got black ones, but had white available all the way to 2001, including complete red upholstery in 2001 on white cars. The 1997 models are the hardest ones to find, and are easy to recognise due to the different, pre facelift front and rear end.

Japan, meanwhile, had white, silver, black and red on 1996 models (which had 4 lug wheels), with red Recaros on the white cars only. In 1998 yellow was added. 2000-2001 yellow cars had yellow seats, and yellow stitching on the steering wheel and shift boot. Europe and Oceania had the same colors, but with the USDM front end rather than the JDM one.

Anything else you need to know? :P

So apparently the red one I saw was either a fake or aftermarket paintjob then.

Thanks for the info, Fred. It's really interesting. :)

I guess I'm a bit of an ITR whore... Having owned two, and picking up my 3rd one this weekend... Finally came back to my senses. :D

Sorry for the question but are you not getting a Subaru anymore? Or is the new ITR as well as the Subie?

I'd seen an F40 before, but not the Enzo, so I was more excited about that. So were all the French kids that were running around - a sharp intake of breath, and "Enzo!" repeated endlessly in a French accent.

In any case, the totally original Mk1 Mini they've got was better for me anyway.

I want that model Mini so very much. No-one seemed to know anything about it when I asked.

Nope, that plan backfired... I started to look at MKIV Supras around the same time, but realised they weren't really for me. So I went back to my roots instead.

Wish I brought my camera along with me today... saw a black CLS55 overtake me... quite a stunning car in the metal.

I agree with your opinion of the CLS55. I saw one on Saturday and have to say they are definitely a looker, especially in black.

I dunno... sitting and watching gets kind of boring, and it can get very depressing if you sit and watch for a while and nothing goes by. I think I've sat at one particular Atlanta intersection for about 30 hours total now. This weekend I finally saw an accident, though it was a very minor fender-bender between a mid-90s Ford F-250 and a rented Hyundai Sonata. Traffic problems are frequent and interesting.

As far as the G-class is concerned, the W463 convertible is uncommon but not incredibly so:

The range was refreshed again in 1997, including the introduction of a power-topped convertible and two new engines - Wikipedia

The G-class Cabrio is the only handmade 4x4 in the world that has a power-top and the highly sophisticated off-road vehicle utilizing three fully locking differentials (The only SUV sold in the U.S. to have such). There are only thirty of these handmade vehicles produced a year Graz, Austria. Mercedes Benz USA does not import the G-class Cabrio to the United States but private importers such as Europa G-Wagen has imported these vehicles that cost up to 135,000 U.S. dollars. - Wikipedia

I'm not buying the thirty a year thing considering that would mean only about240 are in existence and between the two of us we've seen three, but the rest of the stuff is relevant.

i know an orginal vw beetle isnt really that special but when it was decked out in the number 59 sticker and racing stripes
