Today for me was a black 745Li, not to rare, but I detailed and drove it. A nice car to drive. Also, a 50th Anniversary Corvette Convertible automatic, Not that rare, but once again, detailed and driven. Very sweet car, sounds good and when started it shakes the whole car. When started, the gauges do a full sweep and the HUD pops up in the windscreen. I love the car. Sorry, no pics.

Do you have any more info on the E55 wagon? I've never seen one, and it's high on my "list of cars to see."

The particular one I saw? Local tags I think. Mercedes originally said they'd only release them in 2005 and only make 100, but then they decided to make '06 models as well, so a bit more than that float around. They're still rarer than hell - first one I've ever seen. Not sure if E63 wagons will come out, but if so they're not out yet. Very cool car, and possibly the only one I'll ever see.

Also, speaking of red Mercedes, have you ever seen a red E55AMG?

Yeah, I've seen one or two. Definitely a hard color to see on that car, but AMG offers a lot more colors than people realize. I used to think Mercedes offered just three SL65 colors. Looked it up after seeing that red one and it's actually almost 15! Then again most are shades of silver...

Went to the Rally services and saw:-

Two Ford Focus RS. Yes I do see them fairly recently, but for once I have a pic to prove. 4501 made. Also saw a billion Imprezas, and am now officially sick of them.

Same one later on, didn't photo the other.

Also a Sagaris in a display tent.

Of worthy mention..
'Tuned' Nissan Skyline GTR
Subaru Tribeca. Couldn't bring myself to photograph it.

gallardo-3.jpg

Caught this on fraternity row (Emory University; Atlanta, Ga.) at 2:15am on December 3. Owned by a student. Not many of these about at 2:15am...

Nice Sagaris picture! I really like the Sagaris a lot, too bad the US does not get them. And how the bloody hell does a student own a Gallardo?

Found out today it's a student's non-student business partner. I sure see it at school frequently for that to be true. Either way, it doesn't live on campus, whether or not it's a student.

I think I know why the all the ///M6s you see here are fake, they aren't released here until Feburary or something.... :indiff:

By 'here' do you mean the States? I was joking about them being fakes - I've seen three real ones, and they're assuredly out. Perhaps you're confusing them with the convertible, which should debut around that time?

Speaking of M6's, I saw one today in black in the mall parking lot. Pretty good looking machine if I say so myself. The driver was an early 20's white guy with hair spiked probably 4 inches and those "aviator" sunglasses. I think the car belonged to the old man that got out of the passenger seat.

I never understood why people knock these, I think they're awesome; especially these.

Yeah, the Turbo S is awesome. The Turbo's nice too. Still, it's a lot of money for what it is. It's also a bit too heavy, in my book, to serve the sporting pretensions Porsche wants it to.

Is the front end all smashed up?

Yes: front passenger just below the headlight, and a bit of the passenger-side side skirt.

 Wow! I need atlanta, NOW!! I hate you and you Atlanta-inclined area.

It's not so much the specific area that's important (although there's quite a difference between Boise & Beverly Hills), but constantly keeping watch, being able to see the right car from far away, and, of course, always carrying a camera. ;)

Indeed. Another hugely important factor is knowing where in your city the expensive cars congregate. Los Angeles is known for its cars, but if you stay in the ghetto you'll never see anything good. In both Denver and Atlanta, I venture to the rich shopping districts in order to see good cars - otherwise I wouldn't see anywhere near what I do.

That's the problem with this place; there all over the shot. There're loads of richy people living in unknown places. Usually sat on the bank outside Tescos, but the lovely UK winter has seen to it that that can't be done anymore. (For now)
Dunno what the boot space is like in some of them but oh well.

Indeed - weather is a huge limiting factor. One of the good things about living in the American southeast - it doesn't snow here! (or get cold - in fact, those photos were all taken in 56-degree weather - in December!!)

I dunno. It looks like a Guila, but I don't recall their ever being a Guila Spider. Hmm.

It existed, although it may just be some other Spider.

Something old:

Citroen 2CV:

For sale, from 1960. All this time, all the places (museums & collections) I've been to, I've never seen a 2CV in person. Good thing I was only going 20MPH when I saw it.

Porsche 911T (targa):

Probably a 1974, but probably nothing special. Especially not in the condition it was in. I'd buy a 70's Porsche, but never an old Targa, only the new ones.

MG Midget:

The "Sun Runner" tag caught my eye. I thought it was some special edition, but I don't think it is. There's another Midget I found online with something similar. Never seen a Midget, either, until today.

Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG:

It was two cars behind me, having turned in at the previous intersection. I thought I was "following" it, but he cut out onto the highway behind me. Quickest shot I've gotten in a long time. Not that it's a particularly great one....

Pontiac GTO 6.0:

I know it's a 6.0 because of the dual exhaust, but I've never seen that front end treatment. Why didn't more people buy this? GM is even giving the Monaro VXR more power for less money (500HP for UK1,000 less!). What the hell's wrong with the USDM? :grumpy:

Also, how rare are Mary Kay Cadillacs, and should I be ashamed that I didn't think to get the photo? :guilty:

What?!?! This is crazy! Never?!

I'm not sure. I see pink-shaded Cadillacs on a regular basis in Atlanta (I saw one Saturday - a new DTS) but then again, what's the difference between a pink Cadillac and a Mary Kay Cadillac? I know pink's not a factory color, but what's to stop someone from getting a regular one and painting it?

They hand out about 2000 MK Cadillacs a year to travelling sales people, so they can't be too rare to be spotted on the roads.

OMG! I saw a DB9 Volante this morning on my way to my college orientation. Looks like I'll be spending some extra time on that side of town when I start college in January. :D

Seriously? I see 2CVs almost daily. Got a resident cream and red one... very rusty.

Saw a Mary Kay last summer. That'd be my 1st and only. It was part of a convoy of various Cadillacs.
I wish I'd got my camera out on the road to Donnington MotoGP. Big convoy of american cars (including: 1970s Dodge Challenger, I think a 1960s Buick electra (?) and a Chevy Impala.) Of course with the Dodge vans, flags everywhere. Twas amusing.

Edit: On the highway if you were driving on it or at the highway if you were next to it. :D

Mary Kay Pink is more of a yellowish, shell pink rather than 'light flamingo' color. It's distinctinve. The Mary Kay Caddillac is the car reserved for the company's top sellers - and getting a company car at all means you're in the upper eschelons of wrinkled up old powder pushers.

I've seen a number of Deux Chevaux throughout my life, including several station wagons. A friend of my parents had a 2CV when I was a kid, which he traded in for a DS. Later on, I almost bought a DS when I graduated from college, but sense won out.

I've seen dozens of Midgets, if not hundreds. What I used to see all the time as a kid, but never any more, were Austin Healey Sprites, or the bigger Healey.

What do you mean crap, Doug? That Alfa is gorgeous (particularly with the Panasports) and looks clean and straight. I'd love to have it as a 3rd or 4th stringer for nice-weather driving.

Panasports! - p-lease, that's a European car. You've got to call them by their real name - 'Minilites'

I don't believe they made a Alfa Giulia sans roof officially. Although i'm sure many firms will chop one for you.
