Here are some cobra kit cars

Here is a Ferrari

and a nice GTO

ENJOY

That Gallardo should be in the questionable mods thread.

And "loutis" and "lamborgini" don't exist.

Yep, the Intercontinental, on Peachtree and Georgia 400 about a block east of Piedmont. A fellow with a Phantom lives there and it's always parked outside, although that's a different one from the one in that photo. I've also seen Young Jeezy's green Murcielago Roadster there (and at Lenox Mall just down Peachtree, at Lenox Avenue).

Piedmont, that's my hospital. :)

The Phantom is always there. I see 360 Spyders a lot too, never the black Ferrari in the picture though.

Lenox mall always seems to have something though. :)

Porshe 911

Here is a Ferrari

The top vehicle isn't a regular Porsche 911 - it's a Porsche 930 911 Slant nose, and depending on which version it is, it's either very rare or incredibly rare. Less than 1000 Slant nose models were built, and they vary in degree of rarity based on the model. The vehicle was $130,000 new, and that was back in the late 1980s - for comparison, the '85-'89 Ferrari 328 GTS, of which the present F430 is descended, went for less than half of that. It's the best sighting up there, provided the Ferrari is fake, which it appears to be.

i was about to say isnt the slant nose 911 quite rare, i didnt have a clue it that hard to find though! awesome stuff, i really like how it looks too, although a little odd, definately unique, pity a slant nose option isnt offered for any of the current line-up.
Doug do you know how many of either version were produced?
im assuming it'd be either a carrera or a turbo right?

No offense Diablo, but we've all agreed pretty much that dealership pictures really don't count because you could just as easily go and see them there.

  • Dealerships and Manufacturer/Tuner sponsored car shows do not count. This means that a race meeting/track day/concourse show/owner's club meeting does count. However, everyday "traffic" sightings are more interesting.

Well I'm sorry *McLaren* but you see with me its kinda hard to "because you could just as easily go and see them there" you see I'm stuck at home all day long and I don't get the chance to go out and do some thing on the weekend. So going to work with my dad is some thing that rarely happens and I you hold that one rule up that means that M5Power's post of that Ferrari and the Rolls Royce don't count because they are not "everyday "traffic" sightings", and daan I'm sorry for my typo.......and could you please tell me why that the Lamborghini should be in the questionable mods thread?? And M5Power what is the determining factor that makes that Porsche either Very Race or Extremely Rare(BTW its a Turbo), and yes that Ferrari is a replica but at the time that I posted that I didn't know. SOO PLEASE DON'T 🤬 PICK ON ME LIKE THAT I DO NOT APPRECIATE IT!!!! :grumpy:

Despite being a replica and worth less than 1/10th the value of an original 250 GT California Spyder LWB (~$1.5m), that car is not only rare, but now considered a collector car that at auction can sell for over $100,000.

They were built by Modena Design and Development of El Cajon, California, back in 1987 and became famous after their car was used in the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (which also created a huge demmand for the original of course). Like the original, 50 were built until Ferrari filed a law suit against them and forced them to stop all production.

So I'd say that's a very nice spot, even at a dealership.

Yeah, it was one of my favorite cars growing up. I even found a model of a yellow convertible, but unfortunately I broke it some years ago, and trashed it more recently.

Doug do you know how many of either version were produced?

It's hard to find good info, but it looks like less than 600 were built from 1981 to 1989 - however the U.S. only got the car from 1987 to 1989, and only 262 cars came here in those three years. The 930 911 S Slantnose is rare, the Turbo is rarer, and the Turbo convertible is breathtakingly rare. To this day I can't recall having ever seen a Slantnose.

One thing to mention: even though less than 600 were made and less than 300 came here as factory Slantnoses, a large amount of 930s have been converted after the fact. They have neither the premium price nor the rarity of real models. In fact, Porsche Collectors of America has a site dedicated to telling the differences.

Diablomonkey
And M5Power what is the determining factor that makes that Porsche either Very Race or Extremely Rare(BTW its a Turbo),

Whether or not it's a Turbo. The Turbo is the rarest, with the Turbo cabriolet being the absolute rarest - think, like, 30 cars in the US. But before calling it, you should figure out if it's a factory slant or an aftermarket conversion.

SOO PLEASE DON'T PICK ON ME LIKE THAT I DO NOT APPRECIATE IT!!!!

I think all the pictures you took were wonderful and a nice addition to the thread. I personally could care less where the pictures are coming from. Keep up the good work! 👍

Same. There are some people out there whose only chance to see exotic cars is at car shows and car dealerships etc - like me. Only Porsche Cayman S's i've seen are at car dealerships, same with the one and only Porsche 996 GT3 i've seen.

So personally i don't really think that rule should be there unless you live in a place where you see exotic cars every day. :/

Doesn't make any difference. M5's shots technically count b/c they aren't in dealerships or auto shows.

And, honestly, I don't care it's too "hard" for you to see sports cars in your area because you aren't the only one. There are other members here including myself who don't see too many nice cars, but I don't go posting all my photos of local dealers here.

So you shouldn't be excluded neither b/c if so, all of us should be allowed to run down to our local dealers and jus take pictures of the first nice car we see.

Okay Okay guys, Diablomonkey knows now about the "dealer pics rule", don't give him hell, it was just once alright. I'm sure he ain't gonna be posting the same cars over and over again. ;)

Let's just settle down and keep the nice pics coming.

I agree with both parties. *McLaren* has it right in a lot of respects. For instance - dealers don't count when you're talking about cars you've seen. If I asked Diablomonkey if he's ever seen a 930 Slantnose, I'd hope he'd say no, or at least say, "once, but at a dealer." And while the dealer pictures are nice, he's right - any of us could go to a dealer and see some nice cars; the point of the thread is to showcase what we've seen on the streets.

However, as I've stated in many past posts in this thread, I'm a huge proponent of picture-less posts, and that extends to photos from dealers and shows. I'm sure we'd all rather see on-street photos, but we should take what we can get. As with the 930 Slantnose shots, they generate intelligent discussion, and given that this thread has been hurting for photos lately, it's nice to see photos of any kind.

So I vote they stay, and that he continues to post whatever he sees - with the reminder that we'd rather see photos from on the road. Everyone agree?

I can agree with that.

The thing about the rarity of the Slantnose sort of portrays to when I think a dealer pic is allowed.

I mean, some cars have to be seen at dealers in reality. Let's use th Edonis for example. Very rare, and to see one in a dealership alone, I believe guarantees it's right to be here.

So, perhaps, if the car is new or rare enough (or costly enough), it should probably be fine here, like say, a 1995 Diablo VT in...yellow?
EDIT: Or even better, a black 1988 LM002! I think I'll see you guys in a few days!

Man - there were a bunch of those in DuPont Registry this month. I've still never seen one in my life though; dealers, shows, whatever. They're so damn cool.

daan I'm sorry for my typo.......
A typo is when you press the wrong key when you're typing. You originally typed "Aston Marin" and "Porshe", but I didn't mention them as they were clearly typos. You spelled Lotus and Lamborghini wrong all the way through which indicates you did not know how to spell them.

and could you please tell me why that the Lamborghini should be in the questionable mods thread??
Because its got dodgy skirts, dodgier wheels and a wing glued onto the back.

Lose the attitude please. 💡

As far as I know, the 996 Turbo S did come to the States because I remember magazines talking about it when the 997 was first released. By that I mean, the 996 Turbo would stick around for a year or two, with the 997 Carrera and Carrera S being offered, until a 997 Turbo was released.

I know the 996 Turbo was out, and stuck around until the 997 Turbo debuted - but was there a Turbo S? I strongly think not - in the States, I mean - but I haven't done any research yet. Give me a bit.

Decent sightings today, but the snow's keeping most people out. However:

Jan. 14 '07 - Denver, Colo.

That's a 996 Carrera 2. Temporary plates, so I guess the owner decided he couldn't wait to drive it! :D

Stranger still is this one:

A 993 Targa is rare enough (this is the first I've seen) but in the snow?

hummer-011407.jpg

Jan. 14 '07 - Denver, Colo.

I usually forget how big these things are until I'm right next to them. This one had a Hummer of Silicon Valley license plate frame, and temporary tags out of California.

Just-out Lincoln MKZ. Colorado dealer plates, meaning I have yet to see one that's privately owned. Wonder if it'll sell well.

Yes, Doug, Turbo S' were brought to the states.

There were a couple Turbo S' in this last picture, primarily, the white one and 1 behind it.

Comparing the pricing of the current Turbo and the previous Turbo S, approximately $10,000 difference in price, with the S being the more expensive. This difference could be a little more or a little less with the previous generation Turbo. For reference, the current Turbo costs $123,695 and the Turbo S cost $132,195. (Also of importance, I got the information off of Car and Driver's website.)

Saw some vrey tasty cars yesterday amongst them a Honda NSX-R and a couple of Ferrari 355s (but no pics)

What I did mnage to snap were this DB9...

p1140628lm7.jpg

And this Conrniche Convertible...

I don't get the 911 Turbo S. Did they make a 996 Turbo S? I never saw one, but there are photos of them. Perhaps it didn't come to the States?

It did. It's not too rare, at least not around me. Probably for every 2-3 Turbos, I see 1 Turbo S. I posted two here (both convertibles, one red, one black), but I can't find them. The search on this website isn't finding anything for me.

Just two over the weekend, both yellow....

Lotus Europa

I saw "something" sitting in a closed repair shop. I initially thinking there was an Audi Quattro, and went to check that out. The Lotus was behind that, but I was hoping it was something different (Miura or DeTomaso). Poor thing had the driver's window open all weekend through the rain. Not that having the window up would have prevented any water getting in, but it's the thought that counts.

Ferrari 250 Testarossa (~1958)

Still trying to figure out exactly what it is. Nothing on Google matches exactly, so it may be a replica. I know it's in a showroom, but among all the other stuff there, and considering the rarity of this if it is real, I thought I'd post it here. If for nothing else but to figure out what it is, exactly.

I have another thing that I'd love to have someone tell me what it is. The showroom was closed, so this was the best photo I could get. Studebaker? Stutz? Is it even American?

These are the only cars I'd post from a showroom: either I'm trying to figure out what it is, or it's FXX-rare.
